the bbc says:

Former Popworld presenter Simon Amstell is to replace Mark Lamarr as host of TV music quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Amstell will take over when the BBC Two show returns for its 19th series later this year, having been one of several guest presenters in the last series.

He said he hoped to beat "the universal, exceptionless rule that when a new host takes over an old show it is a horrible, embarrassing disaster".

The 26-year-old left Channel 4's Popworld in April after five years.

Amstell is also a successful stand-up comedian who has appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the last two years.

Fellow comics Bill Bailey and Phill Jupitus are to remain as team captains on the programme.

Lamarr presented the first 17 series of the programme, which was first screened in 1996.

thats great news! Think there's gonna be many funny series to come
