Diana Vickers has revealed today on Twitter that she is filming the music video for the 2nd single from her upcoming second album 'Music To Make Boys Cry' following the release of 'Cinderella' this month!

 

Diana tweeted "VIDEO SHOOT number 2! Make up time ☺" this morning! While this doesn't necessarily mean it is a music video (even though it is very likely), another couple of people have tweeted about being in Diana's new music video today. So this seems to confirm that Diana is filming a music video today!

 

So so exciting, looks like Diana will be releasing a 2nd single just before the release of the album at the beginning of September but we'll see! If all of this doesn't turn out be the case, I can easily merge it back into the album topic.

As much as I adore the song, I don't agree it's more catchy. I think if 'Cinderella' goes top 40 like it's likely to then that's a result, I never thought she'd get into the top 40 ever again.

I'd love it to be Boy In Paris or Music To Make Boys Cry but we don't know the rest of the songs yet, there might be even better ones.

Apparently, a setting is a "retro house party" and there is another picture of what looks like Diana Vickers (I can only see "kers" but I assume that is what it must be) written in graffiti on a wall behind a drum kit. Also a couple of tweets by people who seem to be associated with today's video suggest it could be for the song 'Music To Make Boys Cry'! :D

All it said was "music to make boys cry... #videoshoot" and that was tweeted by someone who was at the video shoot today. So we'll see! :D

I've just looked back at Sunday's Twitter Q&A session and a fan asked Diana if she had chosen her second single and she replied "YES!", I missed that question when I read through first time! :kink:

The second single is Music To Make Boys Cry, someone tweeted a person who was on set yesterday, asking what the song was, and they replied "Music To Make Boys Cry".

 

There are good and bad points to this...

 

Bad points: Diana gave us the song as a free download 2 years ago, so god knows how many people have it, therefore how well will it chart?? Also similar song to Cinderella.

 

Good points: It is good promo for the album, especially if it is released on the same week as the album release (remember Katy Perry with Teenage Dream). Also the album is released 8 weeks after Cinderella is released, so there would be very little promotion time for the second single; therefore i would think any other song (e.g. Lightning Strikes or Mad At Me) would go to waste as they would probably chart poorly with so little time to promote.

 

I think MTMBC is being release purely for promotion reasons for the album, and i dont think Diana is really bothered about its chart position as the album position is effectively more important!!

Ah, I think it's a fantastic choice! With the album release being less than 2 months after 'Cinderella', there probably won't be any time to do any proper promotion for another single so by choosing the album title track will give the album extra promotion in a similar way to 'Teenage Dream' as you say. Plus it is an incredible song as we all know! :D

 

I don't think the fact it's already been given away as a free download in 2011 will matter as I think her fanbase will still download the song to support her and we know that it has been remixed since the 2011 version from the clip we heard on the BBC Radio Derby interview the other day so it will be a new version of the song anyway. And for the rest of the general public, it will be a brand new song for them anyway!

Just gave it another play on Youtube, so glad this is being released before the album. So much more instant than 'Cinderella' (which is still a great song tbf). I wonder what the video will be like. I hope it is as creative as 'Cinderella'.

I've just looked at Diana's YouTube page (not the VEVO page) and I've noticed that the audio of 'Music To Make Boys Cry' that I seem to remember was uploaded in 2012 along with 'Kiss Of A Bullet' (which is still there) seems to have been removed! :o Is this further confirmation that 'Music To Make Boys Cry' is definitely the 2nd single? I think it might be! :D

I would suggest it is probably the next single announcement (which we think we already know anyway) and its music video. :cheer:

Diana accidentally uploaded a preview of her new vid onto youtube today but was set to private 5 mins later....it is definately Music To Make Boys Cry because that was the backing track, and in the vid we saw diana in a bath of balloons, lying in bed, partying and going through records and throwing them over her shoulder lol. and at the end it said "video out tomorrow" (paraphrasing), but on facebook they said the video is out on monday, so the preview will probably be made public on sunday!!

I'm glad they are moving on quickly with this release. MTMBC seems far more accessible than C.
