'Human Nature' is underrated? Definitely not. It seems to be worshiped by many when it is just average at best.

Yep, so POPULAAAH it finishes outside of the top 15 here!

I don't think a single person on the street would name Human Nature if you asked them for 5 MJ singles.

I'm not talking about LAY PEOPLE, we all know they are tards when it comes to all things musical. I'm talking about people who are familiar with the majority of his body of work and shockingly enough that includes a great many people not on Buzzjack.

One of the songs that caused the most erratic voting but still comfortably in the top 20 is the manic and frenzied

one of Michael's many lashes out to the media and hounding paparazzi. The Grammy award winning music video is a real treat and perfectly summarises the rollercoaster that was MJ's life. Elephant Men, plastic surgery mishaps, space-age diets, alien weddings, hyperbaric chambers and Gulliver's Travels all seemed to feature in a normal day's work for the "wacko". Tongue-in-cheek humour that covers the seriousness of what was lurking under the murky media circus surrounding his private life.

From the zany to the sublime and a song i wish i had scored top marks for now. Who Is It is a beautifully crafted song that remains serene and haunting throughout without any of the excess that characterises most of the album it's taken from. One of the most accessible choruses that he's produced and a painfully heartbroken sentiment it's a shame the song has crashed out at this stage as with repeated listens it still sounds like a major top 10 contender. Coupled with a music video directed by David Fincher it's one of the few MJ songs that seems to get much, much better with age. I am the damned. I am the dead.

Two songs that received completely varied sets of votes. The first,

, didn't get a vote below 5 or any 11's and so rides this high on pure standard, average appreciation alone. The second single (and second Billboard #1) from Off The Wall, it certainly lives up the album's name as it bounces along with groovy style. Pretty standard disco affair and one of the definitive hits of the genre, i challenge you to not funk along when the music kicks in.

Bringing proceedings crashing back down to earth is officially the biggest song to hit the UK from the King of Pop,

. A Christmas #1 and a true testament to Michael's will and dedication as both an artist and philanthropist, it also amassed a wave of top scores from a lot of you guys. It's probably too cliche'd to be fully appreciated by the masses now, but that's only because it's been done to death and parodied ad infinitum in every quarter since the mid 90's. An operatic ballad of immense proportion, i challenge you to not be moved when the music kicks in.

Earth Song #13?!?! FARR too low! Don't get the hate for it, one of the best songs of all time, and easily the best MJ song imo.

Rock With You is nice but rather too high here. Earth Song is legit amazing. WHAT ABOUT ELEPHANTS?

The Seoul tour performance where the crazy fan clambers his way up the cherry picker while in mid-air, and MJ holds onto him for dear life is really quite amazing.

'Rock With You' is in my top 3, simply flawless!

I was expecting 'Give In To Me' lower, but still it's my favourite and mega underappreciated. Such an epic masterpiece.

'Leave Me Alone' and 'Who Is It' are both good songs, both very catchy, especially the latter which I heard for the first time during the voting stages and it's been growing and growing on me ever since. Happy with their placings though.

Happy with where 'Rock With You' is too - such a lovely song, so calm yet it's a "toe-tapper-finger-clicking-hand-clapping" track at the same time - but as for the position for 'Earth Song'. I agree with above, this should be in the Top 5 at least as it's my favourite single from MJ. Very emotional and haunting song with an equally so video - the beginning especially gets to me with the tree falling with that tinkly piano piece and the sound of nature over it.

'Earth Song' far, far too low - I know it's divisive but I thought top ten at least.

On a completely different note, 'Human Nature' gave us this classic and therefore gets a free pass:

Getting into serious territory now as we near your top 10 favourite tracks and two signature classics crash out at the last hurdle. The first,

, is the fourth single taken from History and continues along the aggressive tone that saturated the earlier part of the album campaign. Controversial (US radio did not pick up on it easily at all) and brash, the song was a big success across Europe and showed that Michael was not going to give up easily. An incredibly rich and equally as controversial music video came with the song and has since gone on to become one of his most influential, daring and iconic projects.

The second big shock here, but how many more are to come? Very narrowly missing out on the top 10 (and i mean very narrowly) is the second single from the album with the same name;

is about as classic MJ as you can get. A brilliant way to start the album, it’s all eyes and ears on the rest from then on. The music video, directed by the equally as iconic Martin Scorsese channels the darker underbelly of youth culture, that gradually gets alleviated through the power of dance. A video that cemented some classic Michael moves as well as the now iconic fashion choices, it was Michael showing that he was still very much in touch with the dissociated youth and was still going to continue giving them the music that they needed.

Surprised 'They Don't Care About Us' is this high. I find it quite average, but since I've heard it quite a lot, I can still hear it and sort of enjoy it, I suppose. I don't find 'Bad' as good as its legacy would suggest, but all the same it is a very good song and quite a shock to see it outside the Top 10.

Who Is It has reached a new peak for me too, so good to hear you're loving it now <3

Your top 10 (in no particular order)

  • Beat It
  • Smooth Criminal
  • Dirty Diana
  • The Way You Make Me Feel
  • Billie Jean
  • Don't Stop Till You Get Enough
  • Thriller
  • Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
  • Man In The Mirror
  • Black Or White
WHO IS IT!?
Two more gutting exclusions from the top ten - 'They Don't Care About Us' is just so fierce and incisive, it deserves more respect. That said, it's a strong top ten, although 'Black or White' isn't one I'm fond of.
