I would love it to reach #1, but it just screams T10 to me sadly :( it's my second most played song on my iTunes library,

and is far better than Can't Hold Us and Thrift Shop.

To me, that says very little... ;)

You are the single least witty person I have ever met.

Whereas you, good sir, are an absolute shining beacon of wit!

I don't think it'll get the airplay and it's massive in America/ Australia where there are still civil rights questions, whereas here the issue of marriage/ equality isn't nearly as controversial and equal marriage has already passed, taking away some of the song's impact. It's post-album too and there are other massive songs around,

Anyone know the release date?

I predict top 3, with about 6 weeks in top 10 and then slowly slipping away.

Great message.

10th September.

I really want this to be a big hit. It's such a beautiful song and Macklemore even Tweeted that out of all the certifications he's had, platinum for 'Same Love' in the US meant the most to him. I'd love this to smash over here but I'm worried it might just scrape the top 40 or miss it completely.
I'm hopeful of a T3 position at the least. I think once the airplay kicks in, it'll blow up huge (much like "Thrift Shop" and "Can't Hold Us").
They supported Thrift Shop and Cant Hold Us .... I see no reason why they wouldn't?

'Same Love' wouldn't appeal to the younger demographic in the same way that the previous two singles did, though. I can't see young straight men tuning in to hear it, for example. It's far too controversial (even though it shouldn't be) which is why I think Capital will ignore it and it'll be up to Radio 1 to promote it.

I do agree that it's not going to be as simple as playlisting it and not expecting some sort of backlash from it but I just think that they'll play it less than his previous two singles. It's a shame really.

There is no way Capital won't support 'Same Love'... if anything they'll probably overplay it.
I know I'm in the minority here but I just can't see it having wide enough appeal to be the big hit that everyone seems to be predicting. Yeah it's a nice enough song and it has a great positive message and everything, but it's not as radio-friendly as Thrift Shop or Can't Hold Us. I'm pretty sure it'll go Top 20 but I'd be surprised if it went Top 10. I might be wrong but I'm willing to stick my neck out on this one!
I think the fact it's pretty much always top 300 on iTunes even though it hasn't even started to be promoted yet is a pretty good indication it'll be big. And it's been big in the USA as well although admittedly not as big as its predecessors yet.
I'm worried about the music video as well. Remember when the gay kiss in 'Firework' got censored?

When did that get censored? I thought it hadn't, I've seen it on all the music channels.

The video is a bit long too - is there a short version that still makes sense?

There's a 5 minute version -

And it got censored at the time of the video release. I didn't see it specifically but there was a ton of articles about it so I'm assuming they stopped censoring it after the backlash they got for it.

'Same Love' has done better on US radio than it has on sales - I think it's pretty obvious that radio are going to similarly love it over here. If anything playing a song of this nature is a boon for Capital - it allows them to look hip and somewhat forward-thinking for once in their lives. Radio 1 will hammer the song and Capital will follow suit.

The censored thing about Firework was just a rumour apparently. Which makes sense. Nobody in their right mind would censor that from a music video, everybody knows the backlash would be huge.

Same Love also gets the highest ratings on US radio currently. Every week there's a company that polls radio listeners on what songs they recognize, and if they like them or not (I think so radio stations know which songs to play more and less), and Same Love always gets an extremely positive reception in those polls (Bubble Butt by Major Lazer gets the lowest :().

Somehow I think this gonna become the next Domino on Capital...

Either that or they'll playlist it and NEVER play it.
