Noooo, not this song being compared to the majestic 'Some Girls'... :o Sacrilege!

I really have no idea how this is likely to do, but from my point of view his single doesn't seem to be creating any buzz at all.

I wasn't necessarily comparing, just in terms of this and 'Black Magic' being out and out pop stonkers in a chart littered with countless tedious 'featuring' records and vague dance records and...*throws comparison ideas book in the bin*

The compilers at Now 91 have faith in it anyhoo. Track 9 on Disc 1 'n all that.

Out today and already #14 on iTunes. As good as I'm expecting in light of its complete ignorance by radio, hopefully that means at least a top 20 debut next Friday.

Perhaps most interesting though is the performance of this on Australian iTunes - it's been inside the top 20 there for a week now and the top 30 in New Zealand, thanks to support from Smallzy on Nova amongst others, if anything that's amazing when you consider JLS' success was mainly confined to the UK only.

Debuts at #28 in ARIA charts in Australia this week

He played at GAY last night, performed several of the songs from the new album and a cover of Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' (the remix version).

The fact it's charting at all is satisfaction enough for me, and something I made peace with about three weeks ago when it became apparent this wouldn't perform as well as even Marvin and LuvBug did with their singles, let alone JLS.

Especially since I seem to be the only one on here who actually loves this record and Radio 1 and Capital have been ignoring it like the plague.

Just hope Warner doesn't get cold feet and still lets him release the album, from what I've heard of the tracks he did at the weekend it sounds brilliant.

I'm kinda over this song already - I liked it at first but it just seems like an inferior 'Lloyd - Dedication to My Ex' -_-

I've heard it on the radio a couple of times, and was CONVINCED it was Lloyd. Actually got round to listening to this off my own accord for the first time today, and out it was actually Aston.

Not what I (or anyone) expected from him, but it's pretty decent!

I wanna see a Pensmith meltdown tbh

How unfortunate for you then that you're not getting one.

Considering the no airplay factor and everything else added in I've made peace with the fact it did as well as it could in the circumstances. And I still love the single. So that's it.

For no airplay and it's been what, three years since JLS material it's not too shabby, I'm just getting Nadine Coyle vibes a la Insatiable!

Admittedly 'Get Stupid' not getting Radio 1 / Capital airplay was a big stumbling block, but it wasn't totally ignored: http://comparemyradio.com/artists/Aston_Merrygold/tracks

He needs to come back with something fresher, if he gets the opportunity to release another single. Rehashing a hit from 2011 (and not being anywhere near as good) wasn't the way to go!

Maybe he left it too late. I certainly wouldn't have predicted him to do this badly with a debut single though.

Following several performances and interviews on Aussie TV and radio the single's now up to #8 on iTunes there. Nice to see it do well in one country anyway!
