This album is actually quite good (quickest come around ever) but the messy campaign and the fact there are probably no hits on it make me want her to move away from it very quickly.

where the f is that dior x florence welch song !!

Goodnight Gotham apparently has the Florence sample.

I listened to the iTunes bonus tracks. Sex Me is good, not feeling Pose and Gotham is a 1.29 minute interlude.

Rihanna does Tame Impala is so good. I'm obsessed.

goodnight gotham samples florence's only if for a night and features no vocals from rih herself

not at this being her best album since Rated R

yes, just when my expectations were at all time low, it is brilliant!!!

It's really not.

Calm down.

was there any need for this reply? i can have my own opinion without someone undermining me, thank you v much.

this is exactly what i wanted from her ('work' aside which i might remove). great production value throughout, little sweet moments along with the bigger ones. she got the contrast just right for me.

It's really not.

Calm down.

Calm down Micheal, you may not like the album (have you even heard it) but others do. There's no need for this continued bashing of Rih

I liked this on first listen, it did get a bit messy during Desperado/Woo etc. but it starts and ends really well and her voice does fit this more urban sound imo. Rather pleased with it and definitely a jump in quality from Unapologetic! Work is a massive earworm too

My early rate:

8.5 Consideration

5.0 James Joint

8.5 Kiss It Better

6.5 Work

8.5 Desperado

7.0 Woo

6.0 Needed Me

6.5 Yeah, I Said It

8.0 Same Old Mistakes

7.0 Never Ending

9.0 Love on the Brain

9.0 Higher

9.5 Close to You

Pretty consistent album, definitely her best. This is also her new 'Rated R' so now that doesn't have to be so overrated anymore!

What an album. The first two tracks I'm not keen on and I wouldn't be sad to see 'Woo' go, but the rest is pure amazing! 'Kiss It Better' is my initial favourite but I can see a lot more growing on me even more, especially 'Same Ol' Mistakes'.

Definitely Rated R 2.0! Who would've thought this was coming 24 hours ago?

First rate:

08.5 Consideration (feat. SZA)

07.0 James Joint

11.0 Kiss It Better

04.0 Work (feat. Drake)

10.0 Desperado

06.0 Woo

08.5 Needed Me

08.0 Yeah, I Said It

09.0 Same Ol' Mistakes

08.0 Never Ending

10.0 Love On The Brain

08.0 Higher

09.0 Close To You

i'm so happy this album is as great as this, i was really willing her to deliver the goods and she did. i have always thought Rated R aside, Rihanna has always just made albums that were full of hits and then a lot of filler. a bit like Beyonce's self-titled album, i quite like the fact there isn't big stand out hits (kiss me better aside, which has to be single 2) because it has meant for her producing a well thought through and consistent body of work. this is definitely the most "album-y" album she has ever released and after the disappointing quality of the last few albums she definitely needed something like this at this stage. on repeat

9 Consideration (feat. SZA)

3 James Joint

11 Kiss It Better

4 Work (feat. Drake)

8 Desperado

6 Woo

6 Needed Me

7 Yeah, I Said It

10 Same Ol' Mistakes

8 Never Ending

8 Love On The Brain

8 Higher

8 Close To You

2 Goodnight Gotham

8 Sex With Me

8 Pose

Not a bad album on the whole. I especially like 'Kiss It Better', 'Same Ol' Mistakes' (although I'm now going to have to search out the original of that) and 'Love On The Brain'. I like the general vibe of it, I could definitely do without 'James Joint', but it's so short I can ignore it and I can't identify anything else I want to write off at this early stage.

Natalia Kills wrote 'kiss it better' apparently, all is forgiven

it's like the 'fire bomb' of this album, coming for my fav track of her's ever already

I don't think this is close to Rated R standard (but that is impossible to beat anyway). If it was all as good as track 9 and onwards, maybe.

I'll check out the bonus tracks later.
