Yes, I rather liked Ruby. She was one of those who had a bit of a let-off thanks to Toby's blunders so I hope she can gain in confidence now.

 

I also agree that the silver bear comment was brilliant :lol:

The Squirrel Cake was amazing.

 

Laugh out loud moment when Toby used salt in his cake :( but I'm glad he is gone, he wasn't the brightest spatula of the team :D

 

Ruby was a close second to last, I quite like her, hopefully it was first week nerves, and could potentially get better.

 

Let's hope they still have a first aid box at the end of the series. :lol:

I felt so sorry for Ali - bless him!!! At one point I was sure he was a goner but thankfully Toby was just a walking disaster. I quite like a lot of them this year actually, with Ruby, the man from Sheffield & the woman from Grimsby being my early favourites. Oh, and the dentist for special needs seems lovely too. And squirrel cake lady.......

 

The only one who's really getting on my nerves is the guy (Mark???) who is just so bloody loud!! Yes, you're happy with your cake, but you don't have to yell about it. Hopefully he'll be out soon - the quality is so high this year that I can't see him lasting more than a few weeks.

Hmm, I think it must be just a British thing. There is also an element of post-modern irony here.

 

I can't imagine Russians baking, they probably smash the egg into the bowl then smash the bowl up and threaten to veto any calls from the UN to liberate the bowl.

Oh Russians love baking! They have cooking shows and everything too. A few of them that are still on started when I probably wasn't even born yet!

I feel an urge now to re-watch Julie and Julia for the millionth time.

Week 2 mere minutes away!

What a turnaround for Ruby after her disaster last week, I must admit I was well impressed.

Poor Lucy. I kinda admired her stance of simple over complex but it was never going to work out for her in a showstopper challenge. Still, give me her tomato bread over that octopus monstrosity any day.

Well they did manage to turn Masterchef from a borefest into a complete MASTERPIECE of TV.
