Lana gets a second week at the top and heads yet another highly active chart as I go download mad for the fourth week in a row. Records have dropped out of the chart that would normally still be in the Top 40, such has been the pace of new stuff (that's around 60 new entries in 4 weeks, long runs are the exception!)

 

Glen Campbell finally comes out on itunes and boosts into the Top 5 with his gorgeous cover, and will.i.am gets his umpteenth Top 10 a bit belatedly, but that 1920's charleston ragtime sound to a banging dance tune sounds really good on repeat. Lolo's new track is out this week, it's a major diva vitriolic ballad and is bound to go up from its high climb into the Top 20 when I download!

 

New band F.U.R.S is highest new entry at 19, jangly indie rock of the melodic variety, hooray! Dan Croll, another (Scouse) newie isnt far behind... Gaga's back, will it repeat previous success? Jury's out, so far. Madness' Lee Thompson brings ska proper back into the charts for the first time in ages, quite a joy to hear the sounds again, and joined by Bitty McLean, not seen in my charts for about 18 years. Then there's Duane Eddy. 1950's twangy guitar legend, he may even be older than Glen Campbell to become one of the oldest acts to chart with new material (Richard Hawley-produced album track from a couple of years ago). He first made my charts in 1975, and again in 1986, but would certainly have charted in the 60's (if I'd done them then) as his twangy instrumentals were very familiar growing up. Not quite a sold, but The Boomtown Rats are back with a brave new sound of revamps of old stuff. That'll be 1985 since last about then...

It's agreat shame yes, at least buzzjack made Lana number one! I suspect it will outsell a lot of number ones from 2013, though, I've already forgotten some of the earlier ones from this year, but this one will be a golden oldie in years to come... B-)
