BILLBOARD ERROR

'Icona Pop' should NOT be on the Hot 100 this week - should have gone recurrent as:

  • they've fallen out of the Top 50 (and not increasing in points) AND
  • they've been on the chart for more than 20 weeks.
As for who 'Icona Pop' pushed out of the Hot 100, it could have been:
  • 'K. Michelle' who's #1 on Bubbling Under,
  • a track with enough points to re-enter the Hot 100 which hasn't gone recurrent yet or
  • any of the tracks that fell out of the Hot 100 that haven't gone recurrent yet - eg, Major Lazer (LW 56).

No Gaga sales?

I told y'all Katy would clear 500k :jump: Insanely impressive sales, says a lot about how big 'Blurred Lines' is that she couldn't overthrow it.

edit: britster you shady person you. 7k below the estimate but not awful.

Obviously 'Blurred Lines' is still massive on sales as well but 'Roar' is doing great on airplay, yet still can't overtake 'Blurred Lines' on the Hot 100 with that sales lead. Not sure how streaming is for both of them but I'd assume Robin is slaughtering that chart as well. (I hope that paragraph actually made sense).

Lorde top 10 on Digital Songs

Oh wow at Lorde! Really hope she gets top 10 officially on the Hot 100, but even she completely dropped off now which of course hardly ever happens she's done fantastically for a 16 year old from New Zealand with a style of music like Royals.

Disappointed for Roar, Blurred Lines really needs to f*** off now, but it was inevitable it would get a little longer. It's really monopolising the charts!

Aww it wasn't enough for Katy to get #1! She'll get there in a week or 2 though for sure :)

On the subject of the 'style of music' Lorde is, 'Royals' has become the first ever song by a lead solo female to reach #1 on Rock Airplay and the first in over a decade (IIRC) to get #1 on Alternative Songs - I kind of get the latter but how is 'Royals' in any way 'rock'? Good for her though getting her very own share of the hundreds of dubious Billboard 'records' <3

EDIT: Yup, first lead female solo Alternative Songs #1 since June 1996 - a few months before she was born. Can't get over that.

Happy to see that airplay helps Chris Brown to jump from #90 to #73. It has also climbed on the iTunes' sales.

Let Her Go #74 !! Bastille finally enters and Can't Believe It by Flo Rida jumps from #111 to #109 ! But Robin don't want to descend from the throne this week, hope next week Roar at #1.

Not sure, but maybe the Rock Airplay chart is a combination of Alternative, Triple A and the rock formats? If so, that would explain it.

I agree, it sounds nothing like a rock song. I heard it on Radio 1Xtra, and it sounds like something Tyga or 2 Chainz would release (except with rapping instead of singing ). I hope the song is huge, it's brilliant!

Control by Big Sean made the Bubbling Under chart! :D I thought it would be higher though, since the song must've got over 5 million streams on Youtube last week.

Oh my Lord ! This is quite THE dreamed comeback for her. Those sales are mental, I'm so happy for her right now.

Of course we can be "gutted" she missed on the number 1 but we can hope she makes it at some point.

She's the biggest Hot 100 star of this decade so those sales are not that surprising imo.

According Billboard, Rihanna is the star of the decade.

According Billboard, Rihanna is the star of the decade.

Yeah, the advantage with Rihanna is in addition to her own songs, she 'features' on a bunch of other rappers' as well.

Icona Pop have somehow dropped to #51 on their 29th week without going recurrent. What's going on? That's got to be an error surely?

Maybe they have dropped without losing points ?

It dropped from #34. But it's been confirmed as an error anyway:

The chart was originally processed with the song in the top 50, but when points were added to other songs, it fell to No. 51 and was not removed, unfortunately.

3.3% difference in points between Robin and Katy, wonder how much that really amounts to?
