Since I Saw You Last sold over 105,000 last week bringing sales over 298,000 and now his biggest selling solo album which is great news. That said i am a little tinged with disappointment that Open Road only sold 287,000 as i had thought it sold more. Since I Saw You Last will be his first ever solo platinum selling album.

I'm puzzled by that figure. Open Road is widely reported to have sold over 2 million worldwide, to date.

I too believed it had sold 2 million worldwide, but the UK figure does not seem to back our thoughts up.

Open Road is platinum on the BPI website, so guessing that's down to shipping and not sales. It was massive worldwide on the back of TT so it wouldn't surprise me if totals add to 2 million

Needless to say selling over 100k again is fantastic! To go platinum in 3 weeks is superb!

I too am disappointed with Open Road UK sales as i thought it had sold over 400,000 but obviously i was wrong. 12 months 11 days sold around 15-20k in total and sing album version has sold around 200,000 so Since I Saw You Last will easily be his biggest solo seller currently on sales of 298, 853 and i think with this coming weeks sales it will pass 400,000. It should also do ok the week after but after that we return to low sales climates as January sales kick in so he will probably drop down the chart.

A Brit Awards performance would do no harm in February if he can get a slot preferably singing with Elton agin to boost the album and face to face.

Yeah definitely! I think he's probably got another couple of weeks selling 100k each and then we'll see what happens! Double Platinum isn't out of reach either!
This week and possible next are is only 2 chances of achieving 200,000 after that the slow and low sales kick in but has promotion coming up in January which will help, i would agree, double platinum is not out of the question.

Hearing mixed reports this week, I've heard gary was in the lead by 2k on Monday, but also hearing robbie and Beyoncé have overtaken him with 1D in 4th

28.7k in todays mids, still at 3 behind Robbie, who is 4.3k ahead and 1D leading him by 700 copies.

Surprised at how well Robbie has done tbh. I don't really like his new swing album, his 2001 album is much better bit fair play to him

From the Chart Thread:Wednesdays Midweeks:

1 One Direction (50,7k)

2 Robbie Williams (48,9k)

3 Gary Barlow (43,9k)

4 Olly Murs (36,5k)

5 Beyonce (31,3k)

Gary will stay number 3, sales are higher than last week at this point so 100,000 and over looks certain which means the album will pass combined UK sales of 400,000.

Could sell 120,000 this week which be be brill.

If he does that this week and gets another solid Sunday Monday and Tuesday worth of sales combined with hopefully long period in the top 40 he could actually reach double Platinum

while the album has done fantastically as it is double platinum would be brill.

Up to number 2 (a new peak!) in Ireland this week!

And officially certified by the BPI as a platinum selling album!
The album will get a bit of exposure tonight as Gary is performing 'We Like to Love' live on Text Santa on ITV1.

Really?? How comes? Bit of a strange choice of song to sing when he has much stronger ones to pick from

I love the song. He edited it slightly so that the lyric fitted perfectly to the theme of the evening and the videos they showed during part of his performance. He sang it beautifully and it was pretty moving tbh.
