He ain't made a bad film yet so YES

How did I know this would be a Jake topic?

Looks a bit... We shall see. He does seem to continuously nail it.

I haven't loved everything he's done (pretty much though), but it's bound to fascinate at least. And he's coming off a high from Melancholia.

And Uma Thurman is so rarely good but when she is...

omg it's UMA?! :o Didn't even recognise her!

And I'm GLAD I'm not the only one who didn't like Melancholia.

Well you all are SILLY then. It's just a bit of pretentious CRAP though, no? Kirsten and Charlotte are fab in it but it's just MEH. Can't get my head around Kirsten's character as well but that's only one of the problems.

ANYWAY, hoping this will be good.

I watched the part 1 three weeks ago. I have watched a lot of films of "Lars Von Trier" (Dogville, Manderlay, Antichrist, Melancholia) and i don't think that Nymphomaniac is his best movie. "Dogville" is still my favourite film because it was quite different than the rest. The new one has many explicit scenes and i found it annoying in some parts. It would be better if it hadn't so many naked scenes. The directory was very good as always. Nevertheless, it has some funny scenes (Throwing dice for her lovers) and we laughed a lot with my friend.

uma stole it

the rollercoaster of emotions i went through during that last 10 mins of pt.II YELP

Uma Thurman was very good but i think that Charlotte Gainsburg is the whole "Nymphomaniac". Her role was so challenging but she managed to play so well. It's not very easy to accept all the madness of Lars Von Trier.. :P

have you seen part 2 since?

I watched part 2 the last week. I wouldn't say that it was better than the first part. The latter was certainly funny when the part 2 was more dark. But the scene with the quacking duck was totally hilarious!!!I liked the fact that it had an unexpected end!!! I couldn't help but i wonder if Charlotte Gainsburg felt uncomfortable on the sofa..I have read that she will play in his next movie too. Charlotte is probably his muse..:)

If i rate his movies (which i have already watched), my favourite/first will be "Dogville"..But i'm not sure for the rest (Melancholia, Antichrist, Nymphomaniac and Manderlay). They have all of them interesting directory and original concept..Melancholia and Antichrist had amazing cinematography, Manderlay followed the steps of Dogville and Nymphomaniac wasn't boring (when the other three were boring in some parts). So, it would be very difficult to rate them..

I really want to watch his oldest movies such as "Europa", "Breaking the Waves" and "Dancer in the Dark". One of my best friends has watched "Breaking the Waves" and he told me that it's very good movie.

aye I didn't expect the ending until he walked out and it went silent for a while and it clicked to me what was probably gonna happen after such a joyous moment just before (i definitely weeped at the scene of them being 'friends')

(would also highly recommend dancer in the dark)
