Posted September 2, 201311 yr Second single announcement; It's called 'About You' which is different to the digital spy interview where he announced the 2nd single being 'All You Need To Know'. Loving the artwork for this and apparently we'll get to hear it next week which is cool. http://i41.tinypic.com/2qbfypc.jpg
September 4, 201311 yr Well on the whole this has so far done a bit better than I thought it would. One of my friends is a huge Westlife fan and loves this new solo stuff of Shane's so perhaps I did underestimate the strength of his fanbase even if it's not quite the 2000 levels of hysteria. That is quite understandable, I would be very surprised if that had happened. It is very different for him to start the career now 14 years after the band than say, Brian, who left the band in their heydays - if Shane had left then, I think he would have been a lot more successful as he was always the favorite member.
September 4, 201311 yr Shane confirmed on Twitter that new single isn't a ballad and that he wrote it with Steve Mac and Wayne Hector.
September 4, 201311 yr Author So excited for the new song, love Steve Mac & Wayne Hector songs so really looking forwards to this and am personally glad it's not a ballad! Ballad for single #3 when we're still in the winter months sounds good to me. :) Keeping everything crossed radio might not snub this one, as despite a regional radio tour most of them onto ignore Everything To Me, despite it being a catchy summer number. He said 7 days to the premiere on twitter! for some reason I'm more excited to hear this than I was about listening to his first single. The documentary sounds like a great idea too. Like I was saying above, he struggled with radio with single #1 and Westlife struggled too, so I think he is going to have to rely on tv more than radio. Love that it's going from the day of Westlifes last gig, very interested to see how he dealt with everything! Strong rumours he is helping Louis on XF this year, he said in an interview he doesn't think he'll get a slot on the main show, but helping Louis out at least gives him some big exposure.
September 4, 201311 yr I find it ridiculous that Radio 1 and Capital don't want to support him. They support 1D now but they never did Westlife - I just don't get that and it frustrates me. They are truly hypocrites - If 1D had Shane's song, they would play it constantly. I mean, the song is perfect for radio - it has that summery pop radio friendly vibe. I just don't get it, who are they to judge artists? I'm also happy it is not a ballad - I seriously don't remember when was the last time that a ballad ended up high in the charts. But I do think a ballad for 3rd single is a good idea to show variety. I still kind of hope that he will perform on The X Factor - one music site said he will perform in October so who knows. However, even as a guest judge will be great, he was very good in that year when JLS formed. I can't wait for the documentary - I have a feeling it will be aired a week before or during the week of the album release. Also, he gave a clue on Twitter for the 2nd announcement - he drew 3 lines, I think that could be either the name of the album or the album release date :) Edited September 4, 201311 yr by zeze88
September 4, 201311 yr Author Capital and radio 1 were never going to play him, I was hoping Capital might but realistically it was never going to happen, without one of them though getting a hit single is extremely hard. I'm more confused that Real Radio, Heart Radio and the group Metro Radio is part of (not sure what their stations are called) etc didn't play him. His song was perfect for those stations and it's sad the lack of support it was given from radio. Still though, delighted Radio 2 are backing him and the single did very well despite that. Just hopefully single #2 will get stronger support and might give him a successful single before the launch of the album which is likely to be his strong point *touches wood so not to jinx it*. I hope the documentary is out near the album time too, definitely would be good promotion for him. I have no idea what that hint meant, all I could think of was hangman. Hopefully it is album news, totally excited for that!
