No Bee Gees or ABBA then. :( For a moment I thought they totally blanked Donna Summer - aka the Queen of Disco - too but it turns out 'No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)' is her and Barbra Streisand.

At least there seems to be some more inspired choices (by that I mean there's a few I don't recognise from title alone) but typically 'Relight My Fire' appears again. Doesn't appear to be anything modern there which I'm surprised about.

Well, they're sticking to the theme which is all good and fun, but this is gonna be one HELL of a chore to sit through.

I can tell some of those will be PAINFUL :/ I imagine Sam Bailey, Tamera and Hannah will steal the show again.

Apparently Tamera's is actually Wishing On A Star and it's a typo on the list.

No Bee Gees or ABBA then. :(

I'm hoping the lack of ABBA songs means we'll be getting an ABBA week later in the series. Probably won't happen though :(

That would make sense, since Wikipedia did not recognise 'Wishing Your Star'.

I'd hate to hear the contemporary touch they seem to put on songs and a fair few will be karaoke disasters, but if 'Lay All Your Love On Me', 'One of Us' and 'The Day Before You Came' were performed, I would die (in a good way)

Do the contestants have any say in these songs that keep getting chosen for them?

And why have a theme like Disco when NONE of these artists will ever ever release a disco record in the slightest :drama: Great to see 'Rock With You' there but what a complete dud week this will be on the whole looking at most of the song choices. The producers are so stuck in 2005 and its dragging the show down majorly :/

I'm not sure - there was an issue last year (or maybe the year before) when Kitty wanted to perform 'Born This Way' but Misha B was given it instead. Might need to check back to that to see.

This year it appears they are being told what to sing. We are usually led to believe that there is a list of songs and the judges in a different order each week. Which led to the Louis+JLS vs Dannii+Rachel Hylton argument.

Sam Callaghan singing Relight My Fire is going to be karoketastic.

Most of those song choices are meh. Don't think I've heard the song Hannah is singing.

OH LORD at Abi's song choice. Thank God i'm working i'll skip her when I watch it on iplayer.

I can just imagine dearest Abi sitting at her piano destroying 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' or something else, trying to put "her own spin" on it...

Eww. Those song choices are bland. Especially Tamera's! I really hate that song even when the X Factor finalists covered it. :puke: Not going to be a good week for me. Although I'm intrigued as to what Nicholas does with that Michael Jackson song though!

Yes, another night of uninspiring song choices. <_<

I don't think Abi will survive after that. :kink:

Some awful choices. They needs to be more contemporary songs.

Kingsland Road to be bottom two this week. Louis is right, they're so dated.

Oh god at Abi's choice could have guessed she'd get a classic and ruin it into a slow ballad. Never heard of 'September' before. Loving Hannah and Sam B's choices.

Well, not too different from most X Factor alumni then :D

I think Gary really needs to go back and have a look at Kingsland Road's audition... They weren't this group where none of them had a lead role in the group, or where they sang over-the-top-with-cheese songs all the time - they were an inventive and creative (but still fun!) group who should be treated like that. Gary's focusing his energy FAR too much on Rough Copy (but even now cracks are starting to form there), which is why Kingsland Road have been in danger and it's why Miss Dynamix left the competition. He could have done so much more to help them stay in the competition.

I've seen a couple of examples in the US and Australian versions and also a couple on ours where the contestants just say 'I literally cannot sing this, I suggest maybe _____ instead' and them and their mentor come to a compromise. But Dami Im (to namedrop her yet again) was given a song she hadn't heard until Dannii gave it to her (One by U2, god knows how she managed to not hear that!) and just did her best, I suppose it's down to whether the contestants are confident enough to go against their mentor like that, or if they're willing to take a challenge and work hard for it.

Also I remember Rachel Hylton got in a strop over song choices and she was apparently choosing her own for the last few weeks she was on the show.

That's one of the main points of the whole mentor thing :P

Edit: Completely agree with what Calum said about Gary too. He acts like he's into all his acts, but with the song choices you just know he's pushing for Rough Copy. Not that Kingsland Road are much better for me, but still I think I might have grown to like them if Gary hadn't turned them into what they're becoming slowly. I don't think they'll last much longer though, they could be goners this week if they land in the bottom with Abi which it must surely be time for this week... I can't see anyone other than Kingsland Road, Abi, Sam or maybe Luke bottom 2. Hannah will do a Rachel Adedeji/Katie Waissel I imagine when they came 1st and 2nd in the vote with Proud Mary and Help respectively.

Love Hannah's choice. It has some great vocals on it! Laura White auditioned with it and also performed it at the live shows. Have high hopes for Hannah.

Also glad with Sam Bailey's song choice! Not really bothered about the other song choices though. Although Abi's song choice is rather interesting.

This is what I think for Abi (although I know most of you here will be all 'lol she was always shit hehehe') - much like Kingsland Road, Abi has also been lost in her mentoring too. As much as the VT's try and show Nicole/Abi bonding over bowling, she'll push harder for Tamera/Hannah to do better. Abi is confident when she has her piano or guitar, she was way too exposed and 'over delicate' last week, which isn't what she is.
