Swedish metal band Ghost, known as Ghost B.C. in North America, are known for their highly visual live shows, elaborate costumes, and complete anonymity. The band, helmed by inverted pope Papa Emeritus II and flanked by a quintet of Nameless Ghouls, have been spreading their Satanic vibes for several years, wracking up quite the cult following.

 

Ghost B.C. took Toronto by storm back in May, and we had the opportunity to sit down with one of the Nameless Ghouls to discuss the band. The Ghoul talked about the group's visual gimmick, the benefits and downsides of anonymity, and being the "best horror rock band of the 1970s" despite only forming in 2008.

 

Ghost B.C.'s latest album, Infestissumam, was released on Loma Vista Recordings in April, and is the follow-up to their 2010 debut LP, Opus Eponymous.

Oddly enough I find their sound a lot more accessible than most other 'doom metal' groups, and their sound doesn't really match their image. It's quite theatrical but interesting enough. I've been listening to some of their tracks and their ABBA cover (with Dave Grohl as drummer) is kinda good:

 

I've always liked Ghost although thought of them as a Radio Werewolf for the 21st century. They're almost old school Goth in a way.
