We are proud to announce our 51st entry, to the 72nd BuzzJack Song Contest in Darpabrak, Altyr Muunilinst, comes from American singer and former member of flop girlgroup Danity Kane / slightly less flop group Diddy - Dirty Money, Dawn Richard with the stunningly atmospheric electronica/R&B track 'Tide: The Paradox Effect', a vinyl bonus track on her second solo album 'Blackheart'.

Well this sentence was enlightening to say the least.

She was in Danity Kane?!

She got to release a second solo album?! :o

This was a BONUS TRACK?!?!?! http://fun.resplace.net/Emoticons/Dead/DeadBanana.gif

I need to check this girl out. 'Tide' may just overtake 'Give Me You' as my favourite Persephonian entry since I joined!

I believe both of her solo albums were independently released :magic: And yet this new one reached the dizzy heights of number two on the Billboard dance/electronic album chart, what kind of slayage? I am meaning to listen to the rest of the album at some point, heard a couple of the other songs from it and they are very good as well (though they sound a bit more like a former member of Danity Kane ~)

Glad you like the song, the return of Persbuanda

Her songs are nothing like DK songs. She is completely unique in her own right, you should listen to her Armor Up Ep as well.

She also has non album tracks she put on on the soundcloud her self (I think), checkout: Physical - Proffesional - Judith

I love DK, but please don't judge from that background, because she is really something different.

Sorry Bre that I rudely promote her on your thread, but it's your own fault yes :)

Wrecking Ball itself easily wrecks Dawn Richard's entire discography put together!

Did it also wreck her face :kink:

In all honesty though, Aubrey last EP was cute. Cute.

Yes she had a EP.

i've really liked this song ever since you sent it to me via pm but it's literally just clicked and i am in heaven <3
I wanna say thank you, but I keep forgetting this isn't my song :)

Persephonian News Bulletin ~ 25/02/2015

From bottom 5 to top 5 courtesy of Dawn Richard

Our 51st entry 'Tide: The Paradox Effect' by Dawn Richard has given us a well-needed hit after bottom 5 irrelevance in three of the previous four contests, giving Persephonia a fifth top 5 hit and sixth top 10 with a fourth place finish. It's the first time we've finished in that position and in fact only the second time we've ever finished between 4th and 10th (after Spark's 'Revolving' a whopping 42 contests ago in BJSC XXX).

The song received 178 points from 31 countries (our fourth highest raw score and sixth highest adjusted for number of voters), including maximum 12s from Ajanaeda, Isconia, Jukianië and Quintessa - all helping to break our four contest run of no 12s - plus 10 points each from Séyetana, Syndare and Terra Avium and 8 points each from Cadelicia and Desbuanda.

The success signals the end of the recent crisis mode of the Persephonian BJSC Committee.

Final results commentary + Persephonia's televote results

The run of four straight first-time winners was halted by Altyr Muunilinst last month but in their second hosted contest (which was also jointly hosted by Daehun, Ashton, Séyetana and Bignia-Zaragovina for the final results due to EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES) it was restored as Hushkanukia picked up an impressive win in their first ever appearance in a BJSC final.

The LXXII winner was 'St. Patrick' by PVRIS which achieved the rare feat of simultaneously being a rock song and having wide appeal in BJSC, receiving by far the most votes and an incredible 247 points. This was the sixth entry from Hushkanukia but in stark contrast to this song's success, all their previous entries failed to reach the final, the first of them coming dead last in its semi-final. Desbuanda made up the other half of a top 2 of fairly recently debuting countries, scoring their second top 10 hit and a new national peak of 2nd with Eves The Behavior's 'TV', one of the runaway favourites along with 'St. Patrick' but ultimately finishing a fair bit behind on 195 points. That total did however include 9 sets of 12 points, just one off the all-time record held by Daehun LXI. Speaking of Daehun, they came 3rd this month with Louane's 'Avenir' (their second French language entry after the aforementioned 12s record holder by Indila) on 179 points, one more than our entry.

Jayrusalem came 5th, a new peak for them, the last time they entered and a four contest break didn't taint their magic as they repeated that position with Natalie La Rose's 'Somebody' (feat. Jeremih) on 161 points. Just behind them Danaelanda finally picked up their first ever top 10 hit after falling short 33 times before, making the top 20 on 9 of those occasions. Pep & Rash's 'Rumors' provided their breakthrough coming sixth. Another returning nation, Utopia, came eighth with Brenmar's 'Hula Hoop' (feat. UNiiQU3), while Bellamia achieved a second top 10 hit fifteen contests after their first (and after a run of 4 DNQs) with Lia Marie Johnson's 'Moment Like You' in 10th. Completing the top 10, host entry / auto-qualifier / pile of shite 'Show Me Love' by Sam Feldt feat. Kimberly Anne was 7th, giving Altyr Muunilinst four consecutive top 10s, and D'yermak'er came 9th with Kitty's 'Miss U'.

This contest's only debuting nation Triangledonia fell just short of the final with first entry 'Squirrel' by LarsM. It was a big month for returning nations though - Terra di Campioni and New Lexico (FKA Lexico (FKA Allecian (FKA Scruvovnia (FKA Allecian)))) came 11th and 12th with their respective comeback entries, Troye Sivan's 'Touch' (becoming the biggest hit for Terra di Campioni) and Ivy Levan's 'Biscuit', while Elëdan's attempt to sneakily return without anyone knowing (anonymity now abandoned) under the new name Aeondia gave them a 23rd place finish with the Boehm remix of 'Won't Back Down' by Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

Isconia and Jukianië also broke long strings of DNQs this month, five and six respectively. Isconia came 16th with EXGF's 'We Are The Hearts' but Jukianië still found themselves struggling in the final, coming 30th with Kehlani's 'First Position'. Their last and only previous semi-final qualifier came 26th a month after their debut entry came 33rd in the one big final contest of LXIV - though it has now been revealed that entry would in fact have qualified anyway if the semi-finals had gone ahead as planned.

To complete the Jubirdia final news as usual: Hendinia came 15th with Ida LaFontaine's 'Anthem'; Ramrynia were 17th with 'Mine' by Phoebe Ryan; Bignia-Zaragovina repped the ponies into the top 20, finishing 19th with Daniel Ingram's 'Love Is In Bloom' (Archie First Remix); Skall managed 20th with 'Pulling Me Under' by XO feat. Leo Kalyan; Sandebörg were 21st with Ola's 'This Could Be Paradise'; Aquafina were 27th with SomeKindaWonderful's 'Reverse' (Oliver Nelson Remix). The Union of Jubirdia has admitted a new member in the form of Florina, who DNQed this month.

Espen were the unfortunate recipients of the wooden spoon for BJSC LXXII, finishing 31st out of 31 with 'Baby Don't Go' by Tiffany Evans on 50 points.

LOL at your hatred for Show Me Love. Still, it's nice to see order being restored to things after some horrifying forays into non-hatred.

Completing the top 10, host entry / auto-qualifier / pile of shite 'Show Me Love' by Sam Feldt was 7th

I LEGITIMATELY CHOKED IN WORK

Good job, Bre. Your best song and should have won of course.

x FOR NOW x

Let it be known she was MINE FIRST tho (or possibly 2nd, I don't know when 152chris found the song).

Rejected by N DNTN. Rejected by Aeroche. Accepted by Persephonia. Currently. With that pedigree how could it not be a winner???

BRA. Sorry for not replying to your PM! Thanks for the feedback - it actually helped because I've dumped all of them. AND, if you're going with the song I think you're going with, then good choice!
