Will Young is top of the A-List

Source: Music Week

Will Young has claimed top spot on a countdown of the most popular artists of the past six months on commercial radio’s The A-List chart show.

The Sony BMG artist beat off the likes of Universal’s Sugababes and Warner’s Gnarls Barkley to head the chart, which is determined by airplay and sales of downloads, albums, physical singles and music DVDs.

The six-month chart was unveiled as part of the the weekly chart show, which is hosted by Melanie Sykes and Nick Snaith and is broadcast to 57 commercial radio stations from 4 to 7pm every Sunday, including Heart, Real Radio and the Century FM Network.

Since the programme started in March Young has spent nine weeks at number one, while Sugababes and Gnarls Barkley have managed four weeks apiece. The other chart-toppers have been Warner’s Madonna (three weeks), EMI’s Corinne Bailey Rae (two weeks) and Sony BMG acts Kelly Clarkson (two weeks) and Pink (one week).

Thanks for this Mikey...it's great he's been at the top for so long..he's down to 7 this week..not bad after all this time..

Thanks for posting Mikey.

Will is a huge hit in that chart & is still doing well now he's out of the spotlight. :cheer:

Thanks Mikey, it's good to see Will still doing well each week, especially as his last release was in April, but he's still selling pretty well each week on his back catalogue.
Thanks for this Mikey. Will has done exceptionally well in this chart - it warms the cockles don't it?

Thanks Mikey - nine weeks at #1 will take some beating - and add to that the #2 and #3 positions too. He's done bloody good  :dancing:

Just a little something for the record :yahoo:

Since his debut release back in Feb '02, Will has sold an amazing 6 & a half million singles and albums in the UK.

:cheer: And at least that figure is accurate, unlike some other inflated, exaggerated ones we read about.

It's very accurate and in fact Will's only another 180,000 short of selling 7 million. :cheer:

Toni - how do you get one quote inside another?. Whenever I click on quote it only gives me the last one.
