Posted October 24, 201311 yr http://i.imgur.com/GdoM1cM.jpg The more successful the villain, the more successful the picture. Every good hero needs a villain. Any that steal the spotlight for you? The more evil & twisted the better...
October 24, 201311 yr Author I have a major thing for basically any and every Disney villain. Scar from 'The Lion King' takes it for me, probably my favourite movie villain EVER - so camp/over-the-top/theatrical and just pure evil :'( Over notable mentions to Nurse Ratched in 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest', Lancaster Dodd in 'The Master' and of course Jack Torrance in 'The Shining'. Love to support a good villain!
October 24, 201311 yr My favourite movie villain ever is, by a few thousand light years, Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars. Pure evil and all the better for it. Almost without fail though I prefer villains to heroes, the latter are always so DULL and WORTHY.
October 24, 201311 yr My favourite is Khan from the original Star Trek movie, The Wrath Of Khan definitely in ny top 3 too. With hates last breath I STAB AT THEE *.*
October 24, 201311 yr Does Regina George count? Of course  I always prefer the villain in almost every film. I used to love Ursula from Little Mermaid when I was younger and secretly hoped she would beat that ginger hoes ass.
October 24, 201311 yr Slightly agree with the statement. A great villain can make a film iconic. Darth Vader is probably my favorite. Gollum too.
October 24, 201311 yr Well, the first post hints at it but as no one's actually mentioned it, absolutely no villain beats the Joker as portrayed in The Dark Knight. The main thing that I think that got completely right was there was nothing that he actually wanted (like world domination/money like the standard villain wants) he just lives for being evil, it really shows what a true villain should be about.
October 25, 201311 yr The Joker is probably the greatest (and among the most complex) fictional villians of all time. Not just films, comic books or even video games... when done right. Heath Ledger got it right, Mark Hamill got it right. Jack Nicholson got it wrong. Fun but wrong. Beyond him, Vader is obvious, as is Khan (the original of course). Louis Cyphre in Angel Heart is a favourite too. Hannibal Lec(k)tor is a great character that's not quite always well done.

My thoughts exactly. I quite like Nicholson's portrayal too (but then i think i'm more a fan of him the actor and so just ride along with him as the character too). As far as other Batman villains go i also have an ingrained fear for The Penguin (Devito). One of my favourite films in the franchise and he's just so bizarre & creepy in it. The fact that i love penguins doesn't help matters either :/
November 19, 201311 yr Not a movie, but Walter White is probably my favourite villain of the last few years. Not in the least because as Breaking Bad goes on you get to watch in great detail how the man transform. The Joker is great but over-used by a mile. I'd like to see Lex Luthor done well on screen. Great potential there.
November 19, 201311 yr Best one for me is Bill Foster (Michael Douglas) in Falling Down, towering performance, you really wanted to side with him even though he was seriously evil Others who completely stole the show from the good guy imho Hans Gruber - Die Hard Colonel Stuart (the crazy f***er who crashed a plane) - Die Hard 2 Gunnery Sergeant Hartman - Full Metal Jacket Cyrus The Virus - Con Air Norman Stansfield - Leon Edited November 19, 201311 yr by Sandro Raniere

Sure, he's hard on them but that's his job and he's not doing it to be malicious but to help these kids survive what is to come. If there is a villain in FMJ i'd say it's the war itself. You could arguably say that Pyle himself becomes a villain

Not in the least because as Breaking Bad goes on you get to watch in great detail how the man transform. Of course! One of the most complex/detailed "villains" to ever hit the screen?? Also can't believe i made a thread about villains and didn't include Javier Bardem's Anton in 'No Country For Old Men'! So simple yet made more menacing because of this.
