Eurovision.tv confirmed on Facebook today that Portugal have confirmed participation to Eurovision 2014!

Where did RTP get the money from? Lol. We are even worse off this year... Not excited for our return at all, but Spain should be thrilled.

Good news, good news. Now don't waste it Portugal, let's have something good for once.

I can only assume RTP will internally select an "established" artist (probably from their version of The Voice), give them yet another beige ballad à lá 1997 or 2003 et voilá! another DNQ.

 

Waiting to be surprised though.

I should hope this thread doesn't resurrect that Odaisul THING that claims the contest is biased to the East because 'only countries to the east of Portugal win these days' (NO SHIT LOVE) and then trollopes about with a stuck out lip about how it's good that Portugal do bad because Lordi won that one time so clearly doing well must mean you're awful. The composer and the songwriter Andrej Babić and Carlos Coelho will compete in the Portuguese “Festival da Canção”, the national selection to the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Croatian and Portuguese team was invited by RTP to compose and produce one of the 10 entries of the contest. Babić and Coelho was the team beyond one of the most successful Eurovision entries “Senhora do Mar”, performed by Vânia Fernandes back in 2008. AND ONLY BLOODY 'CANTA POR MIM'!

Emanuel, composer of Portuguese entry in 2007 – “Dança comigo” performed by Sabrina – was also invited by RTP, according to the news spread today.

Further details about the songs’ titles and artist’s names will be revealed in the next few days.
