September 22, 200618 yr Posted by Cocopop on Devoted: Posted: Today at 12:40 pm Post subject: Glasgow Evening Times Review (it's ok to look!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HIGH FLYING WILL KEEPS FEET ON THE GROUND by Maureen Ellis He might be reality pop's top gun, but that doesn't mean Will Young is above being brought down to earth with a bump. The PI 2002 winner revelaed to a buzzing SECC last night that, following a walk earlier at Loch Lomond, he was told off in the city's swanky Corinthian bar for resting his feet on the seats. Around 8000 fans saw the 27 year old singer in cruise control as he navigated through two hours of stirring vocals, fantastic dance routines, and enough costume changes to rival Kylie. Striding on stage wearing ice-cool aviator shades, a sharp uniform, and erm, baseball boots, Young launched into KO, the title track from his third, and most recent album. Set against the backdrop of regal red swags, the concert''s many themes flew back and forth through the decades - and each one more imaginative and eye-catching than the last. there was the understated lounge theme for LMF and LRN, an uber-camp jockey setup on AIW. And he was transformed into a cute, rotating toy soldier for ATL, flanked by two pirouetting jewellery box ballerinas. Then it was back to the 70's for a funk-driven medley before a heart-rending 6 part harmony on FC. Young proved quite the charmer, modestly showing off his tum, and trading quips with the audience in the front row. The show could have used more pizzaz such as pyrotechnic or lighting dislpay, and judging by the people leaving before the end, fewer ballads would definitely have been more ? (she doesn't say what !) A very powerful performance of Y & I signalled the beginning of the end, with a spangle-tastic version of YG and, finally, the new-romantic-themed encore of SIO. For a reality TV star who has performed the unimaginable - outshining and outlasting the show that spawned him - it was a soaring effort that more than earned Young his stripes. Sorry, can't scan - but just the standard KO piccy with it Someone who wanted more pizzaz not less and less ballads - even though they are off the album ^_^ Some of the people some of the time :P
September 22, 200618 yr Author That's not a bad review at all and I adore the harmonies part as well, as for more pyrotechnic's and lighting dislpays, I can remember Will saying on radio 2 that this tour would not have them this time and I don't think it's the type of show to need them actually.
September 22, 200618 yr I do wish they wouldn't call him a reality TV star. He is nothing of the sort and never has been. He won a TALENT show for goodness sake!
September 22, 200618 yr Thanks for posting Munchkin. Around 8000 fans saw the 27 year old singer in cruise control as he navigated through two hours of stirring vocals, fantastic dance routines, and enough costume changes to rival Kylie............ Set against the backdrop of regal red swags, the concert''s many themes flew back and forth through the decades - and each one more imaginative and eye-catching than the last.......... spangle-tastic version of YG Well with all that going on "more pizzaz such as pyrotechnic or lighting dislpay" would seem to be a little over the top. Actually I think it's quite a good review, apart from the apparent inability to differentiate between a TV talent show and a TV reality show, or indeed the need still to mention it.
September 22, 200618 yr Will's no1 best seller on Getlive tickets, those last remaining tickets must be shifting now. Brilliant! And that is without much on TV about the tour.
September 22, 200618 yr Well I think that'a a pretty goood review. I sometimes wonder if these critics watch the same show some want it more showy & others less. Why do they need to compare Will to other artists hasn't the penny dropped yet he's UNIQUE not a follower & does things his way& amen to that. :yahoo: I suppose he'll never please everyone but he seems to be delighting most of his fans & attracting new converts from the news filtering back. September 22, 200618 yr great review and judging by the people leaving before the end, fewer ballads would definitely have been more ? I think most thought it was the end and dashed out to get transport, Will made it seem like it was really over when he leaves the stage, i did notice that the last of those who were leaving at Nottingham came running back in when they heard the screams and the opening beat of SIO
September 22, 200618 yr great review I think most thought it was the end and dashed out to get transport, Will made it seem like it was really over when he leaves the stage, i did notice that the last of those who were leaving at Nottingham came running back in when they heard the screams and the opening beat of SIO  That's what I think too - some people want to be out of the car park before everyone else . Also he's doing a full 2 hours this time and not finishing until 11 - quite late for peeps who have a train to catch. On the whole though his reviews to date have been very favourable. It seems to be difficult to get public transport anywhere provincial after 10.45/11.00pm. Certainly I wouldn't be able to get home if I was reliant on it. Indeed where I live I wouldn't even be able to go if I relied on public transport.
September 22, 200618 yr Thanks for bringing the reviews over I don't want the dance moves of Justin, the arrogance of Robbie or the skinny ass of Madonna thank you very much. I just want the 'one off' that is Will
September 22, 200618 yr Great to see the tour being discussed favourably on other forums. Thanks to Lydz on Devoted for this link. http://uk.sonymusic.co.uk/forums/beautifulsouth/viewtopic.p hp?p=209905#209905
September 22, 200618 yr Thanks for posting that review...very happy today..it' getting nearer to wembley...YES! :cheer: i'm actually going both nights.. ..need to stuff myself full of Will ready for the long drought!..
September 22, 200618 yr skinny ass of Madonna Or her out of tune singing! When she does sing!
September 22, 200618 yr Author They started leaving after Your Game in Sheffield as well, but they ended up standing on the stairs and in the aisles.
September 22, 200618 yr I dont know what i would do if i had to miss the last song to get transport home :o I think i would just say sod it and walk, and I usually live on average about 2 hours away from the venues  i just couldn't miss a single minute http://bestsmileys.com/nono/7.gif
September 22, 200618 yr It is frustrating living on the Isle of Wight because as well as the train/bus/car, we have to get the ferry! They run at 2 hourly intervals throughout the night so if you just miss the 1 am you have to wait to 3 am and then there is the hours journey plus the journey home.
