Gary is performing a concert on NYE at Westminster Central Hall. It will be aired live on BBC 1 and includes fireworks and the midnight countdown.

This could be a fantastic mechanism to drive single and album sales!

Is it a Gary with guests thing? Or Gary on his own?

Maybe this will get the album to number 1 as aren't sales usually low in January?

I'd expect there to be several guests. It's a sort of 2 part party, with Fireworks and the Big Ben countdown in the middle.

Yep, I hope he does new material as well as the TT classics

I suspect it'll be largely a crowd pleasing set. Hopefully including some swing and other covers, not just TT stuff.

It sold out in 20 mins this morning, btw.

Enjoy the programme and the night and i would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy new year and i hope it turns out to be everything you wished for.
Would be nice if this gave Face To Face a boost, I don't get how it's not catching on, it's such a solid gold pop song.

I agree its a very solid catchy pop song so hopefully the show will see it return to the top 100 at least. Great show really enjoyed it, wasnt so keen on the swing section but i hate that style of music in general, let me go went down so well, again very catchy and so sing a long likewise with since i saw you last but the show may help let me go return it to the top 10.

Hopefully the concert now gives him a shot at number 1 in the albums this week.

Got the following from digitalspy:

""The BBC continued its ratings success with Gary Barlow's Big Ben Bash Live entertaining 6.76m (38.4%) in the run up to midnight. 13.7m (67.5%) welcomed 2014 with BBC One's New Year Live, an impressive 3m increase on last year's celebrations.""

Ratings like those have to have a very positive effect on album sales surely, granted album sales will plummet in comparison to the last few weeks but hopefully low sales or not Gary should take the number 1 slot.

That's incredible! At its peak, he reached nearly a fifth of the UK population! How can he not be number one?

Price is what may stop Gary going number 1, over in the chart forum many people reckon Rudimental could go number 1 as they did some new year shoe as well and they are selling at 5.99. We probably wont get any midweeks this week either so we will have no indication how its going until we see the official chart on Sunday.

It's going to be close with Rudimental, really really hope Gary can edge it!

i hope we get some mid week info tomorrow.

Looks like we will. Really hoping for the best now!

Such a great performance though. Loved the swing version of Sure, F2F and LMG were great, and the duet with himself was fantastic

I didnt like the swing section at all, it was the only part i didnt really enjoy but i hate swing music in general so i was never going to enjoy it.

I hope the New Year gig makes its way to Youtube - I've not seen it.

Part 1

Part 2

I watched the concert and I had to smile because suddenly I realized why so many people were critical of the show. I did enjoy it, but I think the format wasn't right. He should have had more guests and maybe some humor in there.
