His biggest mistake was the million love songs duet with himself. Possibly he should have sang one or 2 less Take That songs and more solo stuff. I was a tad annoyed he performed none of his old solo material, it is almost like he wants to forget about his first 2 albums but many of his fans like myself enjoyed his first 2 albums and still enjoy the music so its a little disrespectful in some ways. That said, i really enjoyed the show, he sang excellently and i really enjoyed the new tracks of the album he performed.

I thought the duet was quite funny! It did say Gary Barlow and not + guests so can't really see the problem. 6m people watched it, we are only hearing the minority vocalising on social media and the journalists looking for any story regarding a well know person

Very true. It was a good show, but I don't think the sound quality was there. His voice often seemed drowned out by the music. But the whole thing was a Gary Barlow concert. I expected something more of a New Year show - maybe a bit of fun with the audience - a couple who were going to get married on New Year's day up on stage, a serenade to a fan, a bit of talk about the past year, a few more guests. So, I see why some people are critical.
