HMV says:

Following the Top 10 singles 'Sewn' and 'Fill My Little World', new MOR kids on the block, The Feeling, release 'Never Be Lonely', the third single off their smash hit album 'Twelve Stops Then Home'. Regarded as a particular album highlight, 'Never Be Lonely' brings to mind solo McCartney at his best and 10CC at their mid 70's peak with its perfect summery chorus and retro harmonies. - HMV

however can't place a really really old McCartney record it sounds like, but i'm sure it sounds like some old 1970s soft rockers, especially in the chorus. its annoying me as i cant place a name of face to the tune.

any ideas?

Doesnt he mean the style is reminscent of Mccartney and not that the actual song sounds like a McCartney Song? A DJ on the radio said they were like Supertramp, tho not entirely sure! Great song tho!

The band themselves have admitted that the track was inspired by Neil & Tim Finn's first band Split Enz.

With the verse being a homage to the writing/singing more melodic style of Neil Finn & the edgier more frenetic chorus being a homage to the older brother Tim.

SPLIT ENZ - One Step Ahead video (1981) Neil's vocals/song

SPLIT ENZ - I See Red video (1979) - Tim's vocals/song.

I got you by Split Enz is such an awesome song, was playing it just the other day, and forgot how good it was! Surprisingly it was thier only big hit.
sounds like "Dreamer" by Supertramp at the chorus, just a little
