TANIKA

Definitely one to watch next year is the sensational Tanika! We first heard of her when she cropped up out of nowhere on Naughty Boy's album 'Hotel Cabana', featuring on a cover of Daft Punk's 2013 smash 'Get Lucky' (ultimately making it better than the original which is quite shit). Since then, she's gone on to give us one of the best songs of 2013 in the form of 'Bad 4 U'. It's a Sandénian SMASH, not only in terms of personal charts, but in terms of BJSC. She gave us our very first top 5 hit. The video, on top of that, is just SEX. Sex, and all forms of sexy. A complete turn-on. Whoever thought dancing in front of a lorry and leading it on would be as WOW as that, eh? I gather 2014's going to be a very big year for her, and it's all started here! Presumably we'll be hearing more singles from her and then getting a début album, but if you haven't checked out any of her material on YouTube already, you should get on it - such a talent waiting to smash! And it obviously helps that she's great friends with the Queen herself, Emeli Sandé.

Luke Friend

Yet another X Factor alumni, but this time from the UK version. Luke Friend is waiting to be a smash hit artist, even if he's had a bit of a bumpy time of it on the show. He's been in the bottom two several times and we have to wait until next Saturday now to find out whether he'll make it into the top 2 and go on to win the show, or fall at the very last hurdle. I wasn't that big a fan of him to begin with, but since the live shows he's proven how much of a talent he truly is, and he deserves it just as much as Sam Bailey (I won't be disappointed with him winning if it is between the two of them in the end game). He definitely deserves to go on and do great things in 2014, so here's hoping that no matter where he finishes next week he lands a record deal and goes on to make some great tracks! Will be great to hear more original stuff from him, aside from 'Commitments'!

Luke Friend is literally perfect.

SAM BAILEY

Just noticed Luke was far too good for block capitals (that's right. fabulous singer. fabulous looking (would LOVE to see what he's hiding under there x) fabulous everything), but we're back with those now for Queen Sam Bailey - another of this year's X Factor UK alumni. She's by far and away my favourite contestant from this year. I loved her from the moment we first saw her and she graced us with a note perfect cover of Queen Sandé's 'Clown'. She then went on to perform the song twice more (at Boot Camp and in week 8 of the live shows - both of which were stunning, especially the latter because the last 30 seconds were PERFECT). I definitely think she has the potential to be a massive star next year, if she is managed in the right way by whomever she goes on to sign an inevitable contract with, and I'm also looking very forward to seeing what she'll bring to the table... Who knows? 2014 is where it's at!

MADISON BEER

Madison shot to fame after placing ninth in the BJSC final just months ago after releasing her début single 'Melodies', and it was possibly helped by the fact that Justin Bieber featured at the beginning of the video, and she'll be attracting largely the same fanbase that Justin has. The song itself is absolutely fantastic, so it's going to be interesting to see how she can follow something as catchy as that and pop-amazing-ness up with her next single. Hopefully by 2014 we'll have that, and a début album from her, and I reckon she's going to be very successful in the UK. I can't really judge how she'll perform in the UK, but I see good things on the horizon for her!

NINA NESBITT

I suppose I wouldn't really say she's the 'top' artist to look out for next year considering all of the afore-mentioned should hopefully be doing a fair bit next year, but Nina certainly has exciting things coming! She's already had several singles and EPs... 'Stay Out', 'Way in the World' and a recent cover of 'Don't Stop' for an advertisement (I can't actually remember what company it was for, oops, was it John Lewis?). And now, as we move into 2014 Nina will be releasing her début album 'Peroxide' which we have all been waiting for so desperately! It's going to be fabulous if any of her past EPs are anything to go by. Hopefully there's some music on there in a similar vein to 'Way in the World' because that's my absolute favourite by Nina, but whatever happens I assume she's going to smash with this album, and hopefully we get a little tour out of her as well!

Don't Stop was indeed for John Lewis! I'm really excited for Peroxide actually, hoping it can do really well for her as she's SO talented. Stay Out and Boy are her best but I don't dislike any of her songs so far.

Landing straight in at #100 is another entry from Nina Nesbitt, and this time it's her amazing single 'Way in the World'. By far my favourite of hers, and she definitely should include songs like this on the album (please say there are!). KT Tunstall just edges ahead at #99 with the fantastic album track 'Made of Glass' from her newest album 'Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon'. Stunning song, and it's great that it's soon to be a single! Cody Simpson is next with the lead single from 'Surfers Paradise', 'Pretty Brown Eyes' (sorry it's this low, Joseph!) - the thing that makes this video good is that a) he's shirtless and b) he looks STUNNING, as always. That physique, ooft! And the song itself is amazing, even if it did grate on me for some time. Austin Mahone's newest single 'Banga! Banga!' is just ahead of Cody! Not as good as 'What About Love', but it's still fab, and I can't wait to hear his début album! Rounding off this segment is Queen Carolynne Poole of Fame Academy and X Factor fame. This was a song she recorded for Ont' Sofa - 'Too Good For Me'. Absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait to hear more original material like it from her!

Gabrielle Aplin and Bastille's haunting and beautiful duet 'Dreams' (a cover of Fleetwood Mac's song) is also in here! I spent a period of absolutely LOVING it so I think I need to go back and listen to it again. Nina Nesbitt's John Lewis cover 'Don't Stop' is next, and it's a great, fun one. Definitely better than the original, I'd say. Naya Rivera's début single 'Sorry' featuring the one and only BIG SEAN (if I swim with the piranhas, guaranteed I'ma have a fish dinner scare: bigsean bass:) is a corker of a song, definitely a good way to kick her solo career off and I can't wait to see what she follows it up with! The first single from 'Demi', 'Heart Attack' sneaks in here as well, despite having a horrendous chart run. Great song, but not quite comparable to the rest of the album! And finally, HRH Emeli Sandé finishes this section with an unreleased / leaked song 'Easier to Cry' which is beautiful! Honestly can't wait for new music from her, it's been so long (even though we've had about 100000000 new songs this year, lmao!).

The BLANDNESS of that Naya song above Cody makes me sad.

Heart Attack :D I did listen to the demo and you're right! It sounds so much more...complete!!
Sam Bailey!! Queen of the charts next year?
I too hope Sam Bailey, Luke Friend and Nina Nesbitt can make it big in 2014 too! I'd say Tanika as well but I've not heard 'Bad 4 U' yet (her input on Naughty Boy's 'Get Lucky' is fab though!). I liked Nina Nesbitt's cover of 'Don't Stop' but for some reason I tired of it quickly and it only spent 3 or 4 weeks in my chart despite a #4 peak! :o

82. Jason Derulo - The Other Side - 35-38 [2 weeks]
81. KT Tunstall - Invisible Empire - 28-31-38-48 [4 weeks]

Bastille are in here (with another yet to come, I believe) with 'Pompeii' - an absolutely fantastic single! One of the best on the album, and the chorus is just stunning! Jake Quickenden, the absolute GOD that he is, is also here with his first of two entries 'Walk Away'. Australian and Bellamian star Delta Goodrem is up next with her single from this year, 'Heart Hypnotic'. It's great, but it's worn off a bit since the first listen, sadly. Cody Simpson, also of both Australian and Bellamian fame (funnily enough) - and of course MUSCULAR and HOT fame is here with 'Summertime of Our Lives', the second single from 'Surfers Paradise', and one that has an absolutely stunning video! He looks great in it and it matches the song perfectly. Finally, Mika and Ariana Grande are here with 'Popular Song' - it should have been a SMASH, but needless to say it wasn't. Great pop, though!

Rizzle Kicks' first single from 'Roaring 20s', 'Lost Generation', kicks off the next five - and it's an absolutely fantastic song! Despite not liking much of their first era, this is amazing and the lyrics are SO representative. Their first of two outings also! Eliza Doolittle is here once more, and this time with the second single from 'In Your Hands', 'Let It Rain'. This is yet again another great pop track, shame it didn't do much officially for her though. 'Bounce' by Iggy Azalea is here, her highest entry and her best song to date. Looking forward to more music in the same vein from her début album. 'The Other Side' by Jason Derulo really should have performed better looking at that chart run. Great pop song, and so fun! The video is excellent too because he looks f-i-t. And finishing this section is KT Tunstall with the second single from 'Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon', 'Invisible Empire' - a stunning ballad with a well thought out video to match it!

'Bounce' was one of my favourites of the summer. I AM READY FOR HER ALBUM OKAY.

Interesting chart run for 'Pompeii'! I like the song but nowhere near as much as those who obsessed with it when it was released, claiming it "song of the year". 'Things We Lost in the Fire' is much better.
