When do the remixes for this come out, the same time as the physical? I feel they may improve upon the original a little bit (which I still don't think is as bad as the whole of the UK thinks like~)

Well the remixes were supposedly from Disclosure and Underworld, but NME's just posted an article saying Disclosure have/had made no plans to make an official remix. Not really sure what they would have added except a beat in the background, so that's probably a good thing.

I have to say I'm really disappointed with this track, it just sounds so lifeless and dull until the end. I think I'd rather download the original and donate my money another way

 

And the video is just what I expected...might as well be a 1D video as they're in almost every frame in the last minute or so......

Disclosure were also on the official line-up on the Band Aid website though... (and it's certainly not a good thing if it's not happening, I was looking forward to that!)

May as well be posted here too - it's midweek #1 with almost 206,000 sales in its first day!
I know it's for a great cause and everything but here's an interesting article slamming Bob Geldof.

 

There's so much in that article I really agree with.

 

Bob Geldof didn't need to make that comment about Adele. Just because these other stars would turn up to the opening of an envelope to promote their own careers/albums doesn't mean he can say that. Maybe he knew this line up needed her to make this special?

 

I completely respect and love Adele more for the fact she's actually made a donation to the charity rather than do the single. If only all so called celebrities behaved this way and acted like a role model and set a good example.

 

How many of the stars on this have done the same I wonder. I'd hope Bob would have said you can be on it if you make a donation in my opinion.

I'm not even an Adele fan but I'm glad she's stood her ground and not lent her name to this.
I'm fairly sure all the stars performing on the single will have donated, and by all taking time out of their busy schedules (well Jessie Ware probably wasn't busy... but hey :lol: ) they have done a huge amount to help raise awareness for the good and charitable work going on in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. I agree that the lyrics are patronising, and I don't really like this new version all that much, and I think Geldof is a bit of a dick, but I still find it hard to actually slam something that in the end will be doing a lot of good in the world.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that a lot of money has been raised to try and stop Ebola claiming any more lives but there's just something about the track and other elements that I've read that just doesn't sit right with me and I'd rather donate my £3/4 that I would have spent on the single to the charity directly

 

I really don't like the single, it just sounds so dull and apart from a couple of artists the vocals just don't have that epic quality of the original and that's just my opinion!

Bob denied that he ever 'shamed' Adele and expressed complete acceptance of her decisions in an interview yesterday. That article is largely biased, exaggerated rubbish from what I can see.

Indeed. I agree with a lot of that article (although I wouldn't have put it so harshly) but it's important not to assume that the artists that did choose to participate on Band Aid 30 didn't donate.

I just can't stand Geldof and his like.

I agree him and his like are a disgrace. If he paid his dues there wouldn't need to be so much begging the ordinary man on the street to dig deep and support charities and overseas aid.

If he paid his dues he and his ilk would be without fame. Who knows - maybe its an incentive for him/them.

Anything would be an improvement...even 4 minutes of silence (though that's a bit harsh) I am looking forward to the remixes though if they're any good and they can be bought I might buy it but I'm still going to donate directly to the charity anyway

 

Just a shame this version is outselling the original and 2004 version :(

Is the UK version the single that has topped several countries I tunes,or are they different versions?

What % lead does it have over #2 now & how do you find this info out?
