January 9, 201411 yr Author My bones hurt from all the shows A3jzMyYgPQs 03. Lady Gaga ft. R Kelly - Do What U Want This is how you do it Gaga. Different enough to stand out from the rest of your discography, deceptively simple and just a big, bold song without the flares and sirens. The song works on a number of levels: on the surface it's a playful sexxx fuelled romp, but deeper than that it extends to the media that seeks to continually destroy her body, and also the hip-surgery which effectively did do just that. All of this makes the song the most personal on ARTPOP and further cements that it's Gaga that knows herself more than anyone as this is where she feels most comfortable in her art. I adore the opening beats and how smoothly they allow for Gaga's vocals to merge in, the middle-8 is cheesy but it works and R Kelly shines surprisingly bright. Yes we're still waiting for the video - it appears that the lyrics of the song may be turning into a nightmarish reality, and yes they brought out the big-guns in Xxxtina to revamp the existing killer duet to not quite the desired effect, but removing these theatrics (or lack of) and you're left with the best song Gaga has done in years, or more specifically since 'The Edge of Glory' which happens to also be one of her most personal songs. I still hold the upmost love and respect for Gaga, she's defined the past 5 years of my life and i don't think there's anyone outside of my immediate family(!) whose body i care more for. And although she'll get back up and walk again, I just hope the painful lyrics of the song don't actually come into fruition for her like i fear they may.
January 9, 201411 yr Author Pray for a rainbow 0QgYmIzucvQ 02. SZA - Julia When those heavenly synths open out, i'm transported to SZA's hiding place. From the very first listen i knew that this was going to be a year-(life?)-defining song for me. I'll wait to see how well it holds up, but in its simplicity, Julia is perhaps the single most beautiful piece of music i have heard in recent memory. Her delicate tones, broken lyrics and colourful imagination throughout the song send it so high up in my affections i don't think she can ever top it. The first half of the song is as described, but as it climaxes it's brought back down to a shuddering new low-place as she directly addresses the listener allowing us to delve further and further into her mind and rich background. In different moods i can skip to the denouement and just listen to her speak on repeat, at others i can't bear to go through it and just shut the song off before it reaches there. When both are combined it sends me to dizzying highs and devastating lows all in one single listen. Recently signed to a record label, here's hoping she doesn't lose the raw innocence that has plagued her music to date. This really did act as the rainbow in a stormy year and i'm so so blessed to have discovered her beautiful presence. I can't fan enough. SZA is a queen, and Julia is her temple. And now for the storm~

January 10, 201411 yr Author This is not the way that you expect to be _qhHUmL0U6k 01. Autre Ne Veut - Counting Quite an obvious #1 for me. Nothing came close to it eventually and from February onwards i had an inkling that the song would stick with me in this way. What i didn't prepare for was quite how strong a connection i would make with it. I've explored the reasons why i love the song so much in other places (and it is love - the intense emotions it gives to me are unrivalled) and so i won't go into the gory details again. Music is second only to family for me, so when a song speaks out about my family and becomes as close to me as them it can only be considered the most important piece of music this year. Keeping it short. Everything i say is breaking off.

January 10, 201411 yr Counting is one of the best and the most powerful BJSC songs of the year. Brilliant #1. Do What U Want is also fast becoming my favourite Gaga song, its very refreshing when she tries something less...overblown per se. Lot of last year's very best BJSC hits around the chart as well, particularly John De Sohn, DeLong & FAUL to name a few. Quite glad NO CEREMONY finished ahead of Korallroven in here, I'll take it as an honorary 12 :kink: Edited January 10, 201411 yr by Chez Walrus
