I wanna be free

61. T.H.I.E.F.S – Breathe

62. Postiljonen – Help

63. Tove Lo – Habits

64. Lady Gaga – MANiCURE

65. M.I.A. – Bring The Noize

66. SZA – Ice.Moon

67. Olly Murs – Dear Darlin’

68. Azealia Banks – Yung Rapunxel

69. Tyler James – Worry About You

70. Britney Spears – Work Bitch

Britney's return to the pop scene hasn't been as glam as may be expected but thankfully she gets all that done in her vegas shows. 'Work Bitch' was a damn fun return to form and though the rest of the album pails in comparison it's good to know she's still capable of making killer anthems selling out or remaining true to herself. Tyler James managed to score a top 40 hit against all the odds with this, but it deserved so much more. His voice is lush and the instrumentation is so tinny and delicate that i can't help but swoon at it. Throw in some devastating lyrics and it's the full package. Elsewhere Banks bares her teeth in devlish style, Murs offers his best song to date with his gorgeous love letter and M.I.A. does as the title suggests. Tove Lo became a hit for me out of nowhere; her styling, vocals and lyrics all blend into the perfect pop song and i'm so so excited about her in the coming 12 months if this is her potential. Another 'ARTPOP' track crashes out, one that took a long time to hit me but left me cured to the core when it did. Demands to be heard full-out at the RAVE and i would happily let her release it (and for it to not do anything worldwide) if only to see the video! SZA and Postiljonen offer two stunning dream-like journeys into their art before another Haus BJSC entry; the dance-tastic (ONE POINT) wonder (ONE POINT) 'Breathe'.

BAL <3 So much stuff to comment on OMG. Exhausting. Lots of stuff you're reminding me I need to listen to, like A$AP, Autre (I really should give it another try!)

Katy B tracks too low!! Especially 'Aaliyah'. But then I know how hard these things are when all the music is SO GOOD so forgive.

'2025' is one entry of yours I didn't give fair props to in my BJSC countdown (as I recall), but it's survived my iTunes culls and listening to it now, it really is something special. Love the jerks of the music in the chorus.

And 'Habits'! So good, love the dirtiness of the lyrics. Has 'Out of Mind' been, or to come, or...?

(p.s. 'Dear Darlin'': no. x)

You must! And those are just the A's!!

Hurt putting those Katy tracks so low. She's been SUCH a massive part of this past quarter and i'm so excited about 2014 for her.

Glad it's finally hitting you. Got me on the first listen but it does seem to be a sleeper hit for some.

'Out of Mind' isn't to come i'm afraid. I like it but never really gave it as much of a chance to grow like 'Habits' which has stolen all the limelight.

p.s yes so so much :(

All my life I want money and power

51. Minnie-Oh - Step Up

52. Kendrick Lamar – Backseat Freestyle

53. Iggy Azalea – Bounce

54. M.I.A. ft. The Weeknd – Exodus

55. Kelly Sweet – Sirens

56. Disclosure ft. Eliza Doolittle – You & Me

57. Miguel ft. Kendrick Lamar – How Many Drinks?

58. Tom Odell – Another Love

59. SZA – Bed

60. Paper Crows ft. Major Look – Happier

Starting off here with one of the most bittersweet songs i've heard this year. A song so wonderfully constructed you think you get it until that final minute where it's all switched up a notch, catching you off guard every single damn time. I can remember agonising about 'Another Love' at the start of the year. Luckily it actually got the recognition it deserved but unfortunately he hasn't quite come close to matching that premature peak. Still a wondrous beauty though. Kendrick's dream comes ever closer, with more to come from him later, but featuring twice here too; one as a feature on sexier than sex's dream single and one of his own with the eccentric/manic/very good single off his own album. Disclosure's highest entry is of course the delectable 'You & Me' (perhaps the only time you'll ever see the Ms anywhere near this Haus). M.I.A. teams up with The Weeknd in a genius collab/reworking of his material, i NEED to come, and Iggy makes her long-awaited first appearance, not quite managing to Bounce into the top 50 but then the song did tire on me somewhat. Still one of the videos of the year though. Kelly Sweet sounds the sirens in almighty fashion and the section is topped off by the campest & juiciest bjsc entries to date *.*

Aargh, this makes me realise I forgot about Worry About You, another to add to the forgotten list for my countdown :drama:

So many higlights here though including Katy B ofc, Disclosure, Tyler as mentioned, Tom Odell, Olly and Iggy.

(oops at my Drake/Sampha mistake :kink:)

SO MANY GOOD SONGS

Bounce, Can We Dance, Satisfaction Guaranteed and especially Another Love

oh and:

Surprised to see Kendrick and Iggy SO LOW given that you looned over them pretty hard.

I'm a new classic

41. The Saturdays ft. Sean Paul - What About Us

42. A$AP Rocky ft. Skrillex – Wild For The Night

43. Misha B – Here’s To Everything (Ooh La La)

44. Janelle Monáe ft. Miguel – Primetime

45. London Grammar – Wasting My Young Years

46. Pitbull ft. Ke$ha – Timber

47. Iggy Azalea ft. T.I. – Change Your Life

48. Le Youth – C O O L

49. Kanye West ft. Charlie Wilson – Bound 2

50. Lady Gaga – Aura

Starting off the top 50 on a high just as it does the album, is the infectious 'Aura'. Was very excited about the prospect of Gaga letting it all out for the album when i first heard this thankfully and she did not disappoint. Sometimes less is more, but here's it's the excess i revel in. Hoping it can continue the 'Telephone' trilogy in 2014?? The sultry C O O L, country-swag Timber and an anthem of the night from A$AP also feature. Kanye's antics riding that bike do enough to secure him a top 50 position at the cost of his dignity and Iggy makes her second of three appearances with her top 10 smashher teamed with T.I. A couple of real underrated gems follow from Janelle (with her incredibly beautiful love ode) and Misha B (with one of the most underserved flops of the year - hoping the new year brings more fortunes for her). The Saturdays score their biggest ever hit for me with BJ anthem 'What About Us', just narrowly missing out on the all important top 40.

'Aura' is a bit weird and I was unsure of it when I first listened to ARTPOP but there's something so intriguing about it which makes it really good!

Iggy was one of my favourite acts of 2013, three excellent singles with 'Work' probably being my favourite so nice to see that set to be highest on your countdown! London Grammar were also one of my favourites, I can remember 'Wasting My Young Years' suddenly just clicking with me and then I was excited for their album.

'What About Us' was the best single from The Saturdays last year, but there's a big handful of songs in their discography that I prefer (i.e. 'If This is Love', 'Up' and 'My Heart Takes Over').

Timber/What About Us  Loving the Gaga tracks too, definitely amongst my highlights of the album!

I'll take the trouble with the risk

36. Goldroom - Embrace

37. Wynter Gordon - Lucky Ones

38. Brandy – Never Say Never (EOTY Remix)

39. Katy Perry – Unconditionally

40. Lady Gaga – Sexxx Dreams

I WILL get a move on with this, promise. Gaga gets filthy with another album track making an appearance (not quite the highest one though!) and Katy's latest but sadly not biggest single crashes out too. My favourite from her in years and years, it holds a special place in my heart even if others didn't quite get it. One of the feel good tracks of the year from Wynter's latest EP squeezes into the top 40 alongside a surprise entry from none other than Brandy, remixed to near perfection with the sleeper hit of the year. Heard it at the start of the year, loved it. Heard it late into the year, became obsessed with it. And my biggest BJSC entry to date with the voters comfortably makes the top 40; a trippy dance bop sequinned with dotty vocals and a whole heap of warmth.

It's leaders and it's followers

31. Autre Ne Veut – Ego Free Sex Free

32. Jaymes Young - Dark Star (Kiely Rich Remix) [Hitstastic Black Dwarf Radio Edit]

33. London Grammar – Nightcall

34. Lady Gaga – G.U.Y.

35. Kanye West ft. Frank Ocean – New Slaves

The first song to surface from 'Yeezus' and what simply MUST be a future single is the atmospheric 'New Slaves'. Lyrically it sums up a lot of the album's themes and musically it's almost leagues ahead of the rest of it. So manic and frantic, yet oddly calculated and meticulous. And then Frank comes in and it's taken to new heights. London Grammar score their highest hit with their haunting cover of 'Nightcall'. Again it's much further into the song that the magic truly starts, as it all falls silent allowing for that beautiful beat to kick in again as you will it to start all over again. Jaymes Young teamed with an army of contributors and ~hype~ from Bra brings the much needed DANCE to the section as it all descends back into dark and obscure territory with Autre Ne Veut; the orgasmic 'Ego Free Sex Free' is anything BUT sex-free and worthy of the biggest ego i can muster. Just so damn hot. And Gaga again.

But they both have more to come :o

Kendrick was much more for the album as a whole. The fact that the singles i loved too was a bonus.

I thought i was the only one that loved 'If This Is Love'. SO GOOD and i just don't get the hate. I think this could be my fave single from them now though and good lord it's miles better than what came after it :drama:

Timber/What About Us  Loving the Gaga tracks too, definitely amongst my highlights of the album!

Thanks Rich! Hopefully there's a load more in the top 30 you like too :D

Can i be your best friend?

26. Austin Mahone – What About Love

27. Cody Simpson ft. Becky G - Wish U Were Here

28. Lady Gaga – Gypsy

29. M.I.A. – Come Walk With Me

30. Ellie Goulding – Figure 8

A fivesome of lush pop. Starting with 'Figure "criminal that it performed so badly in the UK official singles chart" 8'. M.I.A.'s official return was as big and zany as i've come to expect from her and it really sold the album to me after a shaky last era. Definitely the highlight off it, the first minute or so is just a middling introduction to the highs it gets to eventually. Gaga's final album track is of course the stunning 'Gypsy'. Must be the third single following on from TEOG last time; it's a beautiful ode to her life as it is currently and demands to be chanted out as it closes the upcoming tour. Make it happen please :/ And finishing off the section is the twink war to end #JJ! Cody vs Austin very very narrowly pipped to the post by new obsession Mahone. Cody has been a babe this year releasing his latest album, but it was the stuff he mastered last year that really struck a chord with me. A song that i jammed to for weeks on end that still holds a major place in my heart. But man of the moment/future(?) just steals it with the delicious 90's throwback 'What About Love'. Came out of nowhere and instantly connected with me and hasn't showed a glimpse of ageing mainly due to how funkily-retro yet oddly current it manages to sound; it's in it for the long term. He's also just an absolute beautiful specimen (which may have been the deciding factor between the two x).

There's comfort in dying, comfort in burning

21. Jai Paul – Jasmine

22. V V Brown – The Apple

23. SZA – Aftermath

24. Jai Paul – Str8 Outta Mumbai

25. Mausi - Move

Early in the year i was debating which artist to send to BJSC: SZA or Mausi. I decided on 'Move' and since then the former has become one of THE artists of the year for me and the latter has managed to create one slice of pop magic that has stayed with me since. An absolute corker of feel-good dancepop and one that never fails to uplift my spirit. Conversely one song that never fails to get me down (but in a beautiful "i need this" kinda way) is 'Aftermath' from SZA; brooding, melancholic and so deeply personal. She has a rich past and her lyrics open her up better than i've seen any artist do, and the fact that this personality transcends onto the listeners as easily as the synths do make her the big rising star for me. Jai Paul features twice here, the first 'Str8 Outta Mumbai' takes so many familiar sounds and mashes them up into an odd mess that just works. 'Jasmine' is the highlight off the album. The complete opposite to 'Str8' it's an intensely heart-breaking look into the man behind the bravado and really lets him open up smoother than a bottle of gin. And V V makes yet another appearance with 'The Apple' where she shows off her new prowess as she leaps back into the pop she's best at but with a slightly edgier twist.

Well that last five is just FLAWLESS. Especially VV. Also, really like 'What About Love', still, but don't tell the cool kids.

Yeah I'm not really sure why it's so disliked. I mean if you like The Saturdays' music or are a big pop fan then I can't see how you'd feel differently about this. 'Up' is fab but I'll let you off since you like 'If This is Love'...maybe. <_<

'Gypsy', 'G.U.Y' and 'Sexxx Dreams' - all highlights on ARTPOP. That album has really grown on me although there's still tracks like the horrendous 'Jewels n' Drugs' that I have to skip.

HEY i like 'Up' too! Just 'If This Is Love' is the best from that era by a long shot <3

They are the clear highlights (and only viable single choices). Glad it's grown! JnD will get you too don't worry.
