this on net - hope she doesnt mind me bringing it across.

I found this on The Passage website but obviously it's still to be confirmed that Darius will actually be there:

A Night Under The Stars 2006

The last five concerts have raised nearly half a million pounds for The Passage, a charity in Westminster which help homeless people get off the streets and back to society. Stars who have appeared include Sir Roger Moore, Sir Donald Sinden, opera divas Dame Ann Murray and Maria Ewing. We have had young Musicians of the Year including the gorgeous Nicola Bennedetti as well as stars from the TV and theatre, Anthony Andrews, Patricia Hodge, Steve Coogan and Darius. Rory Bremner has also starred in nearly every show.

For our 2006 concert the theme is 'Comedy in Concert'. i.e. a mixture of music from the classical, and not-so-classical repertoire and performances from the country's most original comedians. All our stars give their performances free and so if a film or TV recording intervenes they may need to pull out. However this has rarely happened. So far we have either commitments or promises from Rory Bremner, Ned Sherrin, Rula Lenska, Maureen Lipman, Patricia Routledge and Miles Crawford and we hope to be inviting Sir Charles Mackerras and Tamsin Little to perform. The Orion Orchestra conducted by Toby Purser will accompany the evening which will be completed by 'A place for us' led by Streetwise Opera, the opera company that gives homeless people a voice.

The concert will be preceded by a sumptuous reception at Banqueting House, Whitehall, accompanied by talented young musicians. After the concert, under the Reubens ceilings, there will be a fantastic champagne party with big jazz band and the acclaimed solo singer, and heartthrob, Darius performing at least until midnight.

Our Royal Guest of Honour will be HRH Princess Michael of Kent who is patron of the evening.

'Comedy in Concert' will be launched by the Princess at the State Rooms at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea on September 4th at 7pm.

I do so hope that this is true!! It doesn't sound as if he will actually be performing at the concert but we may get 1-2 hours of just Darius at the aftershow party!! It certainly isn't cheap but it's for charity and 1-2hours of Darius is certainly worth it!! (champagne too!! - one or two glasses might help me to stop shaking when I speak to him!! LOL! )

(Don't know why, but Smilies wouldn't work!! )

Thanks, Preston. I'd only go to the actual show if Darius was going to be onstage.

Rubens' ceiling, champagne, food, loads of friends and Darius - art, gastronomy and entertainment. Cheap at the price!

Is it Darius with Jazz Band or is it Jazz band then Darius or vice versa?

If it's the first option, we may have to settle for covers, unless of course he's writtten a few more like Devil In You.

If it's the second, it could be like an acoustic session with original D songs.

If they've given his name, do you think that means he's confirmed ?

I dont know that it means he has confirmed although he did appear last year and Natasha accompanied him..

I would love to go but its so expensive and just before Christmas :(

DD it is expensive, but we had a lovely time last year, and it is for a good cause too. If you can make it it would be lovely to see you there :)

Like you said, mid-November ! How does he know? You haven't mentioned it on D's sites, have you? Ooooooh, does he read bj?

Go on, Darius what have you planned for my holiday in December?

Do you think I'll have to go the actual concert if I want to be at the aftershow champagne party? I paid for both last year but I had one very big reason.

too expensive for me, would need to stay overnight too.

I do hope he does it though.

Liking the bit "acclaimed solo singer and heartthrob" bit - I personally hate the term "popstar" so prefer singer

I think The Passage has to ring the changes because there's probably a reasonable core group who attend every year without fail. Darius has been in the concert for 2 years. It's great that he's apparently coming over to do his bit for a great charity. Fingers crossed!

Much as I love D's performances, I hope he isn't singing all night. If he is we may not get the chance to talk to him.

I can't see Darius not making himself available for a quick meet and greet with us, either before he sings or after. I think we will be ok BT :) and it will be great to see him singing for an hour or more

Regarding the concert, there are tickets at just £10 available, and there is always a possibility that D may make an appearance, so it's probably worth a shot :) I am assuming you are able to get to the show on time BT as I don't know your travel arrangements! It will be so lovely to see you there, there seems so many from .net who can't make it :(

But surely the whole reason for going is to see Darius perform, not necessarily to speak to him. It is always an added bonus -and I'm speaking as somebody who travelled to London just to see him at the stage door-but if I had the option of a 2 hour D performance and no chat or a half hour set and a quick hello I would chooses the first option!

I have to agree with you Madame Cholet ..... Paying all that money I would want a decent length of performance ... but I certainly wouldn't expect him to make a personal appearance afterwards, it sounds like some people DO expect it and would only go for that reason!!!! I've paid less than that to see Robbie Williams in a few weeks, and I will be more than happy for a great show

It's unlikely he's going to be doing his own stuff, maybe Colourblind and Live Twice at a push, so its not like you're even paying to see him do proper gig

Well Kinky boots you obviously dont know much about Darius is all I can say. A number of his fans have already seen Darius at this event last year , then met him at the aftershow party, and he is always more than happy to chat to them and at any other event or gig he is at. The same applied to when he appeared in Chicago, many people fans and otherwise got to see him and chat to him at the stage door most nights after the show and and there are some wonderful pictures to prove it on the chicago thread. Many people paid to go to the show several times, and got to meet him several times. No-one expects it but it is Darius' way.
Actually ... I am a long time fan of Darius, have met him several times myself .... but the more I read, the more I just get the impression several people expect it of him. He's far too polite to say no, he doesn't want to disappoint etc, and I know he does try when he can (although circumstances don't always make it possible) ... but some people seem to go purely with the intention of just speaking to him, and would come away disappointed if they didn't ... rather than just seeing any extras above and beyond the gig itself as a huge bonus

As long as Darius is there, I will be happy with whatever we get :D I must say though, it was a real pleasure chatting with him and his family last year, and I would love the chance to repeat it. . Talking about repeats, I would love another kiss with Natasha if she's there too

I am excited at the prospect of him singing for well over an hour too, but I am taking nothing for granted!

I would only pay good money for a pure DD performance, it would cost me over £100 for a possible two songs- and probably not even his own. I don't fancy paying for a short set and then hanging around at some "party" even if Darius mingled I know I wouldn't be in the crowd around him, I am not that pushy and if I did get to meet him I would only look like my normal self when confronted with him - a stunned goldfish and I am sure he would not appreciate that.
Ooh, Kinky- I like your style!! I do agree that as Darius fans we are very lucky indeed that he does take the time and trouble to speak to us, but I agree that we should always see it as an added bonus and not an essential part of seeing D perform. I did go to last year's performance and I paid a lot of money for 2 songs by D and a brief mingle afterwards.

I'm sure Darius has approached me more often than I've approached him. He seems to actually like to talk to people. There's many times he could have just walked past and I'd have not even noticed but, he is a good, friendly person and he automatically comes to say 'Hi'

If he's busy, I don't go near him. If there are people who don't talk to him much, I take a back seat. If he's harressed, it's noticable and I leave him alone and try to never get in the way.

I think I'll leave it up to him. If he choses not to talk, that's fine. If his family are in a private part of the room, I'll leave them to it. There's no problem really.

I bet we have to take a chance with this. He's doing it unless he's needed by a producer for work on his album. I suppose it's open to other similar things as well.

I wish I knew what the future held. I'll leave it a while but, I could end up wasting a lot of money.
