That was a good year for M.I.A. Releasing new tracks every few months, keeping the hype going and then finally revealing her record which is pretty solid and fabulous. No tracks that would grab you and not let go until a few months after but as long as the whole album is strong, it's really not such an important requirement. /\/\ /\ Y /\ despite still being considered her weakest record, charted at #34 in 2010. Kala was considered 'disappointment' at the time of the release and there was no album chart at the time of Arular's release. That's quite a baffling statistic as I definitely love Kala now and wouldn't even chart /\/\ /\ Y /\ in the Top 75 of the year. Oh well.

Well that was quite a U-turn! Before this year I never really liked them. But this album changed my mind completely. Meet Me In a House of Love spent 7 weeks at number one (joint record for this year) and won BJSC60 - this says it all. The whole vibe and the sound oozes *.* I don't like saying this but it is definitely KEWL to like this album.

However it still spent a month at the top of my chart, and The Weeknd scored his 8th number one making him extend his lead from iamamiwhoami who now has six #1s to-date having had two new #1's this year (t and n) due to my seeing the act live in London.

Well, that was so stupid of me to not include this album. I relistened to it right now and it's so f***ing strong I have no idea what drug was I on at the time of compiling the list. This is an incredible record, miles and miles better than the debut. Worsening, No Eyes ("it's only a matter of / come and f*** me" is pretty much the lyric of this decade so far), Earth Death (that beat! stunning). So yeah I think I need to make it into a HABIT to start refreshing older albums in my memory about 2 months before end of each year because those f*** ups are getting ridiculous.

So hard to decide which AF album is the best one but talking numbers, this one would win. Of course Neon Bible and Funeral weren't able to chart at all so it complicates things a bit. One things I can tell for sure though. All four albums are fantastic. Each has at least a couple of RIDICULOUSLY strong highlights and very few filler tracks, if any at all. In this double album the clear highlights are Afterlife (spent 4 weeks at #3 in the chart) and Reflektor (peaked at #2). I'm sure if released at the beginning of this year, this would've made the Top 10 easily. Canada f***ing rules. Seriously you guys.

Pretty much the only time ever being Russian actually WAS USEFUL. I won this album in a Facebook competition because they noticed I was from Russia (and the band was going to come here in a couple of months as well). Fabulous start of the (very eventful) year. The debut album finished 3rd in 2010 but 12th place for a follow-up album is not too bad either. The record was slightly patchy and less cohesive than the debut. But the energy and the melodies were still very much there. A stronger 3rd album though please and thanks x

Well, that's a bit misleading because I would obviously put it at #1 if it was a fresh release from 2010 DUH. ; john finished at #181 and t at #91 in 2011 and 2010 YE charts too so it's already a HIT and a WIN for Jonna and her team. Plus kin was my runaway favourite of 2012 with all 9 of the songs finishing in the Top 14 of the YE chart. A record I don't think anyone in this generation could be able to even EQUAL. Her LDN show in May was beyond incredible and I would kill to see her again. HURRY UP WITH NEW TRACKS AS WELL. I CAN DIE I AM THAT EXCITED EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS BEEN NO NEWS ABOUT ANY NEW RELEASES OR SHIT LIKE THAT. Now imagining what would happen if she DID release a new track. (would probably start uncontrollably crying, laughing and peeing myself; #truefan)

Every time I hear a new song of Jon I always like it. It baffles me. Either he just does the pop which I REALLY love or it's just a coincidence. Almost every single song of his since 2011 is just amazing. Fester Kun Med Mig Selv, a song that started this love, was #40 of 2011, and Bomber & Bomber is predicted to finish extremely high in this year's YE chart as well. Gotta f***ing love Denmark.

Du kan gå din egen väg in particular lifts the record to another level. The album is genuine, exciting, full of emotion and character.

Having never even CONSIDERED BEING A MILEY FAN I found myself loving this to death this year. Absolutely incredible pop record. Miley, proving to be very versatile (4x4, Hands in the Air, Adore You - all very different and done extremely well), captured everyone's attention just by getting a haircut and having a few naked pics og herself taken. The whole faux-outrage (faux because no doubt all the men who say Miley is disgusting have been wanking themselves off since she revealed her new image) is ridiculous. Team Miley all the way. Fuck the haters.
