This is clearly amazing news! It's the best song left on the album.

However, I've ALWAYS said it wasn't going to smash, just like Calum said. Not because it's a bad song, but just because I don't see the song getting much more airplay than Disco Love. I think it's going to sell 165k and keep on selling for a few weeks and might somehow manage to get to 180k one day. Obviously, I would love for it to sell around 185-190k in the top 100 and sell the 10-15k missing for the silver certification outside the top 200. But that's obviously just not as likely as the first situation.

I've been listening to it a lot recently. Still as fresh as the first time. Mollie's verse is magic.

They kind of have everything working in their favor for this release. They've been getting better promo slots, airplay has recovered quite a bit since Gentleman, it's similar in style to What About Us which means of the 400k people who bought that a fair amount will be interested in Not Giving Up, same goes for all the DJ's who played the hell out of What About Us, and it's perfect for a spring/summer release. This is really like their What About Us 2.0 in my eyes. I don't expect that level of success but I think 200k is well within reach.

Promo slots are always quite numerous during the Q4, though. More than in Q1, at least. I know some people here think they have a chance to get a slot on The Voice, but I don't think they do. I'm not saying the promo will be shit, but I don't believe they will finally start getting slots they couldn't get before.

However, as I said, the promo won't be the problem, I'm pretty sure of that. It's going to be down to radios. Low airplay peak, b-list on radio 1, out really quickly so they can play the new and more awaited tracks from 'cooler' artists, etc.

I think it can achieve a really nice peak on the charts if they actually handle things right (quiet release week, good promo, nice performance, lots of radio interviews, etc.), though. Nice peak as in top 5...possibly top 3? We'll see! :)

Am I the only one predicting a flop here? I know the fans love it but it's all about promotion, I'm afraid it will do a Work and fail to go top 10, maybe not even top 20. I do hope I'm proven wrong, though, as it's a little make or break and I'd love for them to consider releasing more post-album singles in the future.
You said 'sense in a sentence' but I wrote more than one :P I was just being jokingly pedantic

okay.... :P

I agree - about mollies verse. She sounds a bit like Nicola Roberts in that verse and it is just gorgeous!! I hope it smashes :D

If the release date of 2nd March is correct this is the competition that's confirmed.

I'd say that this has more appeal than Work tbf. And I doubt it will do a work anyway. Work was released when CL had sold over 200k already  The sats haven't even sold a tenth of that yet :kink:

It's flop status depends almost wholey on airplay. If radio 1 a list it , which I think they might, as they play a saturdays song almost every day so they obviously still support them - and it's a much more Radio 1 friendly song. Capital should play it too.

I think Capital and R1 will support - Disco Love is played daily four months after release and What About Us was played over 200 times in one year!

I'm so excited for the release!

I'm surprised they are releasing 'not giving up'. Its not their best song, disco love is miles better.
No confirmation of the single choice in the mailer :( but it did say they are shooting the video next week.
They obviously didn't know that it would be been accidentally revealed when it was written.
They talk about the look for the new video in this week's Flip.

But Disco Love has already been released...

That flip :o

Vanessa, Rochelle and Una look stunning with no makup!

'Hi I'm Una, and I'm Rochelle and together we are siamese twins'

Oh did you hear Rochelle say "light - Oh I might have gave something away." What If the single is leave a Light on? :o

Then we suck it up and enjoy the ride :D

It looks like they're using lights in the video, I don't think they would have blatantly given that much of a clue right after saying they weren't allowed to reveal.
