294. "Relax take it easy" Mika (2 weeks)

Reached #1: 13 May 2007

UK Chart Peak: #18

"Relax take it easy" was originally Mika's first single but went largely unnoticed until he it big with "Grace Kelly" in early 2007. On Continental Europe the song was released as the third single and eventually topped my chart. It was also #1 in France and both Flemish and Wallon Belgium.

The closest to date that Mika got of getting another #1 in my chart was in 2010, when "Kick Ass" hit #2.

Rihanna became the first act to have two songs as my chart's #1 of the year, as she had the biggest and longest-running #1 of 2007 with "Umbrella". Not only that, it was also the #1 song on my 2000's decade-end chart. The track was the second #1 in my chart for both Rihanna and Jay-Z.

Reached #1: 8 July 2007

UK chart peak: #108

She had plenty of hits with her siblings in my chart (the biggest being "Runaway", #5 in 1999) but the only time she entered as a solo Andrea Corr made it all the way to Number 1.

Corr got the idea for this anti-war song after reading the novel "Birdsong" by Sebastian Faulks.

300. "Hey there Delilah" Plain White T's (4 weeks)

Reached #1: 9 September 2007

UK Chart Peak: #2

One of the biggest one-hit wonders in my chart, Chicago band Plain White T's topped my chart for four weeks with "Hey There Delilah", which was #3 in the year-end chart, but they never troubled my top 40 again. However I still love this song. The song's Delilah (Di Crescenzo) is an American cross country and steeplechase runner who frontman Tom Higgenson met through a mutual friend. Their first encounter inspired him to write this song but they were never in a relationship.

The song topped the charts in the US, Canada and Germany. VH1 ranked this #78 in their 100 Greatest Songs of the 2000's list.

303. "The light in our soul" Helena Paparizou (1 week)

Reached #1: 21 October 2007

"The light in our soul" was one of the songs performed by Helena Paparizou on the quest to represent Greece in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, that she ended up winning with "You're my number one". The song was disqualified when demo version leaked on the internet. However I only came across it in 2007, in an online song contest forum similar to BJSC and liked it enough to send to the top of my chart.

Paparizou has two more top 40 hits in my chart: her Eurovision entry "You're my number one" (#12 in 2005) and "Baby it's over" (#23 in 2012).

Reached #1: 25 November 2007

UK Chart Peak: #11

If I could turn back around, this would have never topped my chart and Leona would have an unbroken 7 week run at #1. But at the time I was caught up in the all hoopla about the Spice Girls reunion that the fact alone was enough to grant their tenth #1 in my chart.

306. "All I want for Christmas is you" Mariah Carey (2 weeks)

Reached #1: 23 December 2007

UK Chart Peak: #2

"All I want for Christmas is you" was at #2 in my first ever personal chart in December 1994 and thirteen years later, it finally reached #1. The song has been a Christmas classic since its release in 1994 and has been entering the charts all over the world every Christmas in the digital era. The song has been convered by numerous acts like Shania Twain, Demi Lovato, Michael Bublé, Idina Menzel and John Mayer. Carey re-recorded it in 2011 with Justin Bieber.

Mariah scored thus her fourth #1 in my chart, her first in almost nine years. The song also holds the record for the biggest drop ever from #1 in my chart as it plummeted to #28 after the holidays were over.

308. "Sometimes a little some time" Squeeze Theeze Pleeze (1 week)

Reached #1: 20 January 2008

Portuguese rock band Squeeze Theeze Pleeze only had a minor hit in my chart before notching a surprise #1 with the ballad "Sometimes a little some time".

One of the reasons for the popularity of the track was

of the lead singer falling off the stage while lipsynching in a TV performance.

311. "That's how people grow up" Morrissey (2 weeks)

Reached #1: 17 February 2008

UK Chart Peak: #14

2008 was a year of quite some surprising (even to me) Number Ones in my chart. I never would have thought Morrissey would get a #1 in my chart, until I fell in love with this track, an unreleased song promoting his 2008 Greatest Hits album.

Morrissey had only three minor top 40 hits in my chart (the biggest being "You Have Killed Me" that hit #18), and only has troubled my chart again with follow-up single "All you need is me".
