352. "The spell" Alphabeat (1 week)

Reached #1: 25 October 2009

UK Chart Peak: #20

After scoring two megahits in my chart in the previous year, it was pretty much a given that Alphabeat's comeback single would hit it big.

Also a #1 in their native Denmark, "The Spell" was the band's third #1 in my chart. They had five more top 40 hits in my chart.

353. "Down" Jay Sean feat. Lil' Wayne (3 weeks)

Reached #1: 1 November 2009

UK Chart Peak: #3

Jay Sean had a few hits in my chart, notably 2008's "Ride It" and "Maybe", both of them peaking at #4 and becoming long-running hits. In 2009, Jay Sean signed to a US label and has since based his career there.

As well as making headlines for hitting #1 in the US with "Down", becoming the best-selling single by a British/European male artist there since Elton John's "Candle In The Win 97", it also was Jay Sean's first and so far only #1 in my chart. By guest starring in the track, Lil' Wayne also got his first #1 in my chart.

354. "Bad romance" Lady Gaga (4 weeks)

Reached #1: 22 November 2009

UK Chart Peak: #1

Lady Gaga became the first act since Shakira in 2002 to have three #1s in my chart within a calendar year. Widely acknowledged as her masterpiece and her most successful single, "Bad Romance" was the leading track from "The Fame Monster", a set of new songs for the revamping of her debut album "The Fame".

The track earned Gaga two Grammys, four VMAs and sold 12 million copies worldwide. In my chart's All-time top 120 in December 2014, it placed at #10, the highest position for 21st century song.

355. "Remeber When It Rained" Josh Groban (3 weeks)

Reached #1: 20 December 2009

"Remember When It Rained" was a track from Josh Groban's 2003 album "Closer", written by Groban and Eric Mouquet of Deep Forest fame. But I only came across it in late 2009, and I liked it so much that I thought it would be a great Christmas #1 for my chart.

Josh Groban has only had another hit in my chart, 2008's "You Are Loved (Don't Give Up)" that peaked at #16.

After topping the US charts, Owl City's "Fireflies" extended its success all over Europe in early 2010, hitting #1 in the UK, Ireland, Denmark and Sweden.

"Fireflies" was one of the two longest-running #1's in my chart in 2010. Later that year Owl City nearly had another #1 when "Umbrella Beach" peaked at #2. He would have to wait two years for his sophomore hit, with the help of a certain Canadian pop starlet.

Pink became the first artist top my chart in the first two decades of the 21st century, when she claimed her fifth #1 with "I Don't Believe You". It was a chart-topper in Portugal, although it was modest hit everywhere else.

Pink claimed that this is her favourite track from the "Funhouse" album. In the music video, she wears the same dress she wore in her wedding to Carey Hart.

359. "Young Money" Vita Chambers (1 week)

Reached #1: 14 February 2010

It was around this time that I began to follow Popjustice and this is where I discovered this track. Born in Canada to Barbadian parents, 16-year old Vita Chambers was signed to Motown Universal and was poised for high flights that year, even opening up for Justin Bieber in some parts of his My World Tour.

Nowadays, Vita Chambers is an independent artist on her own company. Despite some interesting tracks, she has yet to trouble my chart again.

366. "Fazer o que ainda não foi feito" Pedro Abrunhosa & Comité Caviar (2 weeks)

Reached #1: 9 May 2010

"Fazer o que ainda não foi feito" ("Do what is yet to be done") was Abrunhosa's third #1 in my chart, his first with his new backing band Comité Caviar.

Funnily enough, all his three #1s were in three different decades (1996, 2002, 2010), which turned him in the first person to have #1s in my chart in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.
