(for the record, I'm no fan, but this isn't my kinda thing anyway so it was unlikely I was going to be a fan) (I prefer Demons) But anyway, it most definitely deserves its spot in the top 3 here, having been in the chart for all bar 5 weeks of last year, incredible stuff. ~ Albums http://a2.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/b0/3c/c8/b03cc88f-75be-7119-1855-2252bfa78b56/12UMGIM44631.170x170-75.jpg 3 ~ Ellie Goulding - Halcyon (...-18-31-25-13-10-11-13-16-16-15-20-18-25-27-24-25-21-18-22-34-38-9-13-24-25-22-29-26-29-35-30-26-19-26-3-5-11-16-21-23-24-13-18-22-30-21-18-25-18-15-6-6-...) 4204pts ~ 52wks Tracks in singles list: 23 I Need Your Love (Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding's second album was one highly anticipated by me, after I adored [bright] Lights, her debut album, and this didn't disappoint. Although I must say that I'm in the minority and prefer the Halcyon Days re-release tracks. Oops. Ellie achieved her second EVER UK #1 album http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-xpa1/t5.0-1/41787_138659892838767_2273_q.jpg with this in 2014, to the surprise of many, getting the accolade well over a year after it entered at #2. Crazy chart run but definitely well deserved, never thought Ellie would end up outselling her debut especially in this climate but she has! :o
December 7, 201410 yr Author It's finally happened... after 343 days, 4 hours and 18 minutes since the start of this thread (if I added up correctly) it's time to finally reveal who is #1 on the points charts of 2013. It's come down to Bastille vs. Passenger on the singles chart and Bruno Mars vs. Emeli Sandé on the albums. You may think it's obvious, but could there be a shock? :o Singles http://a1.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music4/v4/e7/36/57/e7365756-aa49-525e-1d94-d0819b96464a/05099972311257.170x170-75.jpg 2 ~ (2-3-5-5-5-5-4-9-12-15-13-13-19-22-27-30-24-25-26-34-38-39-44-47-53-55-55-62-57-72-78-93-51-50-73-73-83-48-50-54-58-60-66-38-...) 2749pts ~ 44wks Not really a shock on the singles chart as #2 goes to Bastille. Back before this was released though, who'd have thought it would get to #2 on the weekly chart, let alone the end of year points chart? Easily the biggest 'alternative' hit of the last few years, 'Pompeii' proved to have very wide appeal, in fact becoming the most streamed song of ALL TIME in the UK, a statistic that would go on to help it with the inclusion of streaming into the chart over a year after its release. Despite this song being released near the start of 2013 and this countdown having gone on for over 11 months after the end of the year, this post comes less than two hours after the sad announcement that 'Pompeii' has left the UK top 100 for the first time. End of an era - and fitting that it coincides with the end of the era of the 2013 points chart. Long live 'Pompeii'. ~ Albums http://i.imgur.com/GHfk9hI.png 2 ~ Emeli Sandé - Our Version Of Events (...-2-1-2-2-4-4-3-1-1-2-3-3-4-7-4-3-5-4-9-8-15-10-12-22-13-15-17-19-15-27-26-27-29-24-28-21-27-34-33-22-14-24-21-20-23-36-41-47-44-45-43-31-...) 4355pts ~ 52wks Tracks in singles list: 39 Clown 98 Read All About It (Pt. III) 318 Next To Me 846 Heaven Lo and behold though we actually DO have a slight surprise in the album chart! I'm sure you all (all 0 of you that predicted) thought Emeli would have the #1 under wraps here but 'Our Version Of Events' ultimately plays second fiddle. The first few months of 2013 were undeniably incredible for Emeli as she remained in the top 10 for another age despite already having 46 top 10 weeks from 2012 (IIRC this album actually only *just* fell short of matching the top 10 run of '21'). It picked up three additional weeks at the top spot to add to the 7 it already had and remained top 40 for nearly the entire year. All the while failing to produce a second interesting single after 'Heaven'. WD Emeli. For all its Adele-esque longevity, this album still only has around half of the sales of '21' to my knowledge.

I really liked the track from when I first heard it, he has quite a unique sounding voice which adds to the song for me, which already has great lyrics and melody. It was no shock that this did as well as it did, many saw it coming with it blowing up around Europe beforehand and it was always gonna be the kinda thing Heart ate up (funnily enough, they did actually eat it up lol). I still love this track despite the overplay and it's a very worthy winner IMO! ~ Albums http://a5.mzstatic.com/us/r30/Music/v4/ae/3f/a9/ae3fa998-a80d-913f-e852-38476dba2a75/075679957283.170x170-75.jpg 1 ~ Bruno Mars - Unorthodox Jukebox (...-5-7-10-7-14-12-7-8-6-4-5-6-5-6-6-7-7-7-14-17-16-7-11-17-12-9-10-8-9-11-17-12-13-18-22-27-23-24-30-31-19-33-28-28-27-25-27-30-28-27-29-24-...) 4440pts ~ 52wks Tracks in singles list: 13 When I Was Your Man 28 Locked Out Of Heaven 35 Treasure 444 Gorilla Despite not spending a single week at #1 in the whole of 2013, or even in the top 3, Bruno Mars takes the #1 spot here by a margin of less than 100 points. Unorthodox Jukebox seems like a bit of a shock winner here for me but I guess with his huge single success, it should be expected! It never left the top 40 for the entire year, spending 21 weeks in the top 10 (plus any from 2012!), which is highly impressive, so WD Bruno. A nice twist on Emeli predictably winning :kink:
December 7, 201410 yr I'd like to thank my parents, family and friends for supporting me through this long journey, my co-presenter Bray for carrying on despite being less good at this than me, and my fans for being ever so supportive.
