Singer and actor, Will Young is one of the most lauded and recognizable figures in the British contemporary arts scene and we are delighted to announce he is to become a patron of LGBT mental health charity PACE. PACE has been working for three decades to improve the mental health and emotional well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans* people in London. Increasingly, as we expand our online services, PACE reaches LGBT people nationwide.

In the last few months Will has been getting to know the staff and some of the clients at PACE. Recently he took part in a discussion with young LGBT people to talk about his experiences as a gay man and answer their questions.

‘Every LGBT person should be granted the right to freedom of expression and personal fulfilment without prejudice’ says Will Young, he continued ‘Here at PACE we support LGBT people and allow them to grow by listening, advising and most importantly allowing people to be themselves. It’s an absolute pleasure to become a patron of PACE; being able to listen to and learn from lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans* people about their experiences of developing better mental health is a privilege.’

Will has also agreed to be involved in the forthcoming Bright Night event, a fun, fundraising evening to raise the profile of PACE. ‘Bright Night – a little bit of a do about something that matters’ will be held on Thursday 27th February 2014 at a central London venue. Put the date in your diary and watch the PACE space!

‘It’s fantastic to have Will Young working with PACE. We know that lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans* people experience higher levels of mental ill health and we believe this to be unjust. Will’s involvement will really help us to create more public discussion about the importance of better mental health for all LGBT people.’

Thought I'd start a thread on this as it could be our next public sighting of Will. Wonder what the fun fundraising night involves?

That's quite a few charities Will now supports, Mencap, Catch 22, Women's Aid and Positive Action South West. This runs alongside all the free time he gives up to mentor young people.

I'm sure all the posters on here feel the same finally. Although Will is such a versatile performer, nothing beats his own music.

Will Young to perform for PACE!

Thanks Ros.

Will has also retweeted about the event. Thought he would nearer the date. Probably wanted to give first option to supporters of the charity before publicising more to his fans.
