Posted January 8, 201411 yr http://s3.goodfon.com/wallpaper/previews-middle/497154.jpg The Buzzjack 2013 Dance Music Awards We'll be starting with Breakthrough of the Year. So who won it? Martin Garrix, Disclosure, Le Youth, Breach, Rudimental or Zedd?
January 8, 201411 yr Author Breakthrough of the Year 1 Le Youth 4 Breach 10 Rudimental 10 Martin Garrix 12 Zedd 26 Disclosure And it's a clear victory for Disclosure, who have been in the public eye since late 2012 when they released 'Latch', but 2013 was the big breakthrough year for them - with the release of their album 'Settle'. In second place is Zedd, who has gained popularity this year because of his big dance-pop crossovers with great melodies such as 'Clarity' and 'Stay the Night', the latter which is due for an official release next month.
January 8, 201411 yr Author Male Vocal Performance of the Year 8 Dan Tyminski on 'Hey Brother' 22 Pharrell Williams on 'Get Lucky' 29 Aloe Blacc on 'Wake Me Up' Our second award of the night celebrates male vocalists that have lent their talents to dance records and improving their greatness. We had 3 big contenders but in the end Dan Tyminski was far behind the rest, and the win goes to another vocalist who sang on an Avicii song. Aloe Blacc's soulful vocals fit in very well with Avicii's production so in my opinion he deserves this win. Hopefully this isn't his last appearance on a dance track as I'd love to hear his voice in the chart again.
January 8, 201411 yr Author Female Vocal Performance of the Year 12 Ella Eyre on 'Waiting All Night' 24 Ellie Goulding on 'I Need Your Love' 27 Lana Del Rey on 'Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix)' The DJ scene may be completely dominated by males, but fortunately there is more variety when it comes to vocalists. So this award is for females who have made a good dance track even better. As you can see it was very close between pop fan favourites Ellie and Lana, but in the end it is Lana who wins. The song was not originally a dance song but the remix is so much better than the original and it's great to hear her on a dance song. Not my choice of winner (I would've preferred Ellie) but still deserved.
January 8, 201411 yr Author Producer of the Year 3 Hardwell 4 Martin Garrix 9 Sub Focus 12 Calvin Harris 13 Zedd 22 Avicii And it seems like Buzzjack generally agree with me that Avicii is the producer of the year  The underrated Zedd gets his second 2nd-place finish of the night too. I've said all I need to about Avicii in the past year in my posting, I just find him amazing and personally I can't wait to go to his live concert in London
January 8, 201411 yr Author Group of the Year 5 Krewella 8 Daft Punk 11 Rudimental 11 Chase & Status 28 Disclosure Disclosure get their second award of the night as most of you thought they were the best dance group that 2013 had to offer. I definitely agree here, the quality of their music this year has been very good and their style is never generic. And on the subject of Disclosure… Album of the Year 3 Daft Punk 'Random Access Memories' 4 Chase & Status 'Brand New Machine' 4 Sub Focus 'Torus' 10 Rudimental 'Home' 14 Avicii 'True' 25 Disclosure 'Settle' …they win their third and last award of the evening for their debut album, 'Settle'. A great album from start to finish imo, it was one of my personal top 3 albums of the year, the other two being Armin's 'Intense' which is sadly not on the list, and Avicii's 'True' which comfortably made 2nd place in these results. Worst and best song of the year coming up next.
January 8, 201411 yr Author Worst Song of the Year 9 Fatboy Slim & Riva Starr feat. Beardyman 'Eat Sleep Rave Repeat' 12 Ylvis 'The Fox' 14 Breach 'Jack' 20 David Guetta feat. Akon & Ne-Yo 'Play Hard' And the penultimate award is here to remind us that not all is good in dance music (although I unashamedly love 3 of these songs :kink:). The deserved winner here is 'Play Hard', which rips off a 90s trance classic that would've been better left alone (bad thermo pun alert). Hopefully David returns in 2014 with a song that isn't too generic for my liking. Song of the Year 7 Martin Garrix 'Animals' 8 Avicii vs. Nicky Romero 'I Could Be the One' 15 Avicii 'Wake Me Up' 15 Lana Del Rey 'Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix)' 18 Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams 'Get Lucky' Now for the final award of this evening which goes out to Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams with their nu-disco tune 'Get Lucky' which just beats the winners of Best Male Vocal and Best Female Vocal. I played it a lot this year and it never got boring for me, the simplicity of the track is quite the selling factor, the whole song is based on one riff, and there's no massive bass drop, but despite that it's very fresh and just an amazing track so well done Daft Punk! Thanks everyone who voted, there were 21 voters in total! :D
January 8, 201411 yr Disclosure sweeping up dem awards <3 Get Lucky 'best song' and Play Hard 'worst song' are both great choices too so yayyy
January 9, 201411 yr Deserved winners all around, though Ylvis' "The Fox" is definitely the bigger crime to music next to "Play Hard".
January 9, 201411 yr Group of The Year and Album of The Year for Disclosure..? Just no! Shame that Chase & Status lost the "Group of the Year" because they were much better than Disclosure. Double shame that Sub Focus and Avicii lost "The Album Of The Year" from Disclosure too. I don't hate Disclosure but they are the definition of beige in dance. Their songs are good but there is something missing. Sub Focus and Avicii had powerful dance tracks with high profile. Disclosure's songs are good only for cafes..Sub Focus and Avicci have material for clubs and open stages.

January 15, 201411 yr I hate to scoff BUT. There's no way you'd ever hear anything close to Avicii in good clubs. Disclosure perhaps. 9xpo2MO6goU I heard this last week and it was in-croy-a-ble.

You obviously haven't seen Disclosure live - they are definitely not beige, they created an amazing atmosphere and had everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) in the tent moving at Latitude.
January 19, 201411 yr I hate to scoff BUT. There's no way you'd ever hear anything close to Avicii in good clubs. Disclosure perhaps. 9xpo2MO6goU I heard this last week and it was in-croy-a-ble. I don't hate Disclosure but i think that their music is suitable for lounge cafes. I have heard a lot of times this kind of music in these places. Their music is good for background while you talk with your friends or relaxing at your home. On the other hand, Avicii and Sub Focus has something dynamic to their music which it provokes you to dance. This is my opinion. It doesn't mean that it's the correct too. p.s I think that "Latch" is their best song so far..The rest is quite average as material.
