Posted January 9, 201411 yr Just starting a thread for this now that we know it returns APRIL 6TH (7TH in the UK) and the first trailer will be out this Sunday too. Very excited obv, S3 wasn't as good as S2, but the general talk seems to be that a lot of shit goes down towards the latter half of S4 so yay *.* I'm still pretty much spoiler free bar about 2/3 things from stupidly reading the blurb of book 5.
January 10, 201411 yr So pumped for this it is unreal. I don't know how they're gonna pick up after the end of Season 3 (Mhysa only did a small part of dealing with the fallout from The Rains Of Castamere) but I very much look forward to seeing it in action. Hopefully if I can get my reading speed up, I can finish A Clash Of Kings by the time this starts, and start reading A Storm Of Swords during and after.
January 11, 201411 yr I'm really interested to see what happens with the storylines this season. Up to the end of season 3 everything pretty much matched the pace of the books but now it seems like the writers are going to have to get a bit creative with the source material, especially with Dany's storyline. I can't see her besieging Mereen for the whole season. I hope they add some of her more intimate scenes like when Jorah tells her about his wife. Despite having some amazing scenes in season 3, she didn't have chance to show much of her character. One scene that I really hope makes it into the TV series is when Cersei and Jaime have sex pretty much on Joffrey's corpse. It's such a sick scene but is so brilliant because it illustrates how messed up these characters are. This is one of the reason's I was kind of disappointed Jaime got back to Kings Landing at the end of season 3...because it's before the purple wedding.
January 13, 201411 yr Author Oh it'll be here in no time, it really doesn't feel like 7 months since we had the S3 finale.
January 13, 201411 yr Everything looks so strange now it's past Season 3. No idea what is happening but it looks very promising. Cannot wait until April.
January 15, 201411 yr Once we look back on the show when it's all over, this is going to be seen as the most important season of its run, not only because they are adapting the last half of book three, which contains all the shit hits the fan moments that made the showrunners want to adapt these beasts of a fantasy saga in the first place (The Red Wedding is only the start, and the majority of Season Three was just preamble, actually arguably most of the whole show up to this point is preamble), but also because it's going to start to reveal the writers' hand on just how they plan to go about adapting the final books. This is going to be the point where the show really starts to diverge & develop its own plotting, and based on just that trailer, it looks like they are going to nail it. Excited. January 15, 201411 yr And it looks like they are going to outdo themselves in cinematography, my God there are some beautiful shots there. The sweeping shadow of the dragon over Kings Landing with the sea crashing in the background is just too much (also, probably just a neat bit of fantasy foreshadowing, but woah), the mobbing in the alleys of Meereen, the glimpse of Bran by the weirwood and Arya in the mountains, Yara in her boat, the charging POV attack, Dany on her bench throne, the lush production designs & costuming in general *.* Edited January 15, 201411 yr by Daniel.
April 7, 201411 yr Ladies and gentlemen, Westeros is back. I love little violent Arya so much right now. Some really good scenes for Jaime and Jon amongst others, and an interesting new character in the form of Oberyn? Yes to all of it.
April 7, 201411 yr Wow.. great opening episode, I did find it slow to begin with it, built up to great episode in the end. Wondering you will get the second sword that was forged at the beginning.
April 7, 201411 yr I thought that was the best season opener since the pilot. Really nicely paced and everything linked together. Sometimes GoT has the tendency to seem like lots of different scenes all over the place with not much tying them together but with a lot of the characters in Kings Landing, this seems to have been avoided. Brilliant opening scene with the forging of the two swords as well... Tywin looking very menacing. Also, anyone else think it's interesting that George Martin released the "Mercy" chapter from Winds of Winter about a week ago? It's like the writers are confirming just how much they know...
April 8, 201411 yr I really enjoyed it - and all the major players were involved who the audience are fond of. I think the Stannis/Bran/Winterfell storyline are less important in the viewing public's eyes, so I think the episode benefited from mainly covering the core characters. It probably helps that a lot of them are currently at Kings Landing.
April 14, 201411 yr Oh wow, what an episode, now that was one of the best, really loving the series so far...
