Posted January 12, 201411 yr Not entirely sure how popular he is here but I heard Jake Bugg's new single last night, and whilst I wasn't massive on him before, this has completely won me over. Want it to do big things but can't see it happening unless it gets a week or two top 40 due to a decent promo slot. Also listened to both albums last night, Shangri La is pretty damn good but I wasn't quite as won over by the debut despite it having some fab moments still. January 12, 201411 yr I like Shangri La a lot, reviewed it for our student newspaper when it came out. Have to say I'm not sure of the singles choices so far. "Slumville Sunrise" is my favourite thing he's done but neither this or "What Doesn't Kill You" are near to being the strongest on the album to me. Would have liked "Messed Up Kids" and "Simple Pleasures" to get a bigger push.
January 12, 201411 yr Author I really like all three singles so far, they're my favourite songs from him overall actually. Simple Pleasures is a fantastic song though and I'd love that to be the next single. Me and You is another highlight for me. Enjoying this album so much more than I expected.
January 13, 201411 yr The new album is beginning to hit me now, some great tracks. SOngs about Lovers is single 3 performed on friday night on Graham Norton!
January 17, 201411 yr Author Fantastic :cheer: Would love it to go top 40 but unlikely seeing as Graham Norton didn't boost it much and the last two singles failed to make much of an impact. Should shift a few more albums for him though!
January 18, 201411 yr Yea def will boost the album esp with low sales. Radio 1 play listing comes at the same time as the videos just been premiered but that's the prob with artists like this only radio1 & maybe XFM/Absolute will playlist it & even on mtv only the rocks channel will regularly support it. I do hope radio 2 maybe add it to the playlist it is something their listeners would enjoy!
February 8, 201411 yr Liked What Doesn't Kill You but, A Song About Love won me over. Good song to listen to when I'm feeling sorry for myself, and it was released on my birthday ;)
