Isn't Best Actress basically a lock for Cate?

Personally she's the one I want to win least, I mean obviously she was very good in the role, I just didn't enjoy it/her/the film. I'd love Sandra to get it because she genuinely sold that performance to me perfectly AND it was so far removed from her comfort zone too but that ain't happening. Amy was sensational too and it feels about time she won too, her best role to date (imho). Meryl is Meryl and even though she was just a SHADE overacting in August she would be a fine winner, but it won't happen. Not sure about Judi, but yeah she was great too.

I haven't heard any hype for Cate tbh. I admit the Actress category is a bit more unpredictable but I can see them going for Sandra because [they can't help it that] she's popular.

And Leo must have his Oscar stitched up, because the Academy is so bloody politicaly correct. Think all the Chicago wins when Moulin Rouge failed to get any awards and everybody slagged the Academy for not awarding musicals.

I'd like to think that it's betweem Cate and Amy for Lead Actress since it seems to be those two who are picking up all the awards (both won at the Critics Choice Awards and then obv the Golden Globes) but then, I am biased towards Amy and this is all from someone who doesn't fully understand how these things are decided

LOLWUT. She's steamrollered all the awards so far and has been the front runner since the film was released. She's got it locked up unless Adams' camp can play up the "only non-winner" angle.

Ha! Like I said, I haven't heard any hype. But that's just me!

I don't really follow the movie releases that closely.

i'm kinda starting tho think that cate doesn't have it in the bag at all which would be a shame. rly hope j-law doesn't get another for american hustle as well. sally and lupita should rly have it wrapped up.
Philomena should win one but I know it won't. Lusitania deserves the oscar over Janifer Lawrence who I adore. But her acting was heart wrenching and emotional

BEST PICTURE

12 Years a Slave

American Hustle

Captain Phillips

“Dallas Buyers Club”

Gravity

“Her”

“Nebraska”

“Philomena”

“The Wolf of Wall Street”

I have watched only 4 movies but i'm going to watch "The Wolf of Wall Street" on Monday..Basically, i want to watch all of them for having a better opinion but "12 Years A Slave" was one of the most emotional movies that i'ver watched at cinema..

Here is what i want to win ( but i doubt they will)

BEST PICTURE

“Dallas Buyers Club” - Portion of History that i think a lot of people would not have been aware of. Great actors and a strong, emotional story-line. Hustle will prob win.

BEST DIRECTOR

Alfonso Cuaron, “Gravity” - For the obvious technical reasons.

BEST ACTOR

Matthew McConaughey, “Dallas Buyers Club” - Character showed much more depth than others nominated but it's probably leo's time.

BEST ACTRESS

Cate Blanchett, “Blue Jasmine” - Never been fond of cate but she was amazing in this film. Not a clue who will win - 3 horse race cate/sandra/meryl

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY

“Her” – Written by Spike Jonze - I chose this because it is 'original' in thought - a 'scary' insight in to what our future could be like in a few years time!

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY

“12 Years a Slave” – Screenplay by John Ridley - meh at this category

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

Lupita Nyong’o, “12 Years a Slave” - Poor list of nominees - prob the best performance. I do LOVE julia though. Shame Margot Robbie didn't get a nom.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

Jared Leto, “Dallas Buyers Club” - Surely Jared has to win this?!

BEST ANIMATED FILM

“Frozen” - Disney at its best.

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY

“Gravity” - I haven't seen all these noms so ill go for the obvious and say, gravity.

BEST COSTUME DESIGN

Catherine Martin, “The Great Gatsby” - Perfect!

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

“The Broken Circle Breakdown” Belgium - seems like the biggie. (if you haven't already check out the shortlist movie 'LORE' from 2012 - amazing cinematography)

BEST MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING

“Dallas Buyers Club” Adruitha Lee and Robin Mathews - because i can't imagine the academy voting bad grandpa!

BEST ORIGINAL SONG

“Let It Go” from “Frozen”

Music and Lyric by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez - Has to be.

BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN

“The Great Gatsby”

Production Design: Catherine Martin; Set Decoration: Beverley Dunn

All in All i hope that American Hustle wins nothing as it really is over hyped but it has a cast that the Hollywood elite love so it will probably clean up. I just hope that Dallas Buyer's club gets the recognition it deserves!

So, does anyone else think Cate could actually lose it now after these Woody allegations have resurfaced? So conflicted.

Sigh.

I watched "The Wolf of Wall Street" last week. I believe that it was one of the best movies but it doesn't deserve the Oscar for Best Picture. I stand by my choice. '12 Years a Slave" was "the movie". I'm going to watch "Nebraska" today.

Nah, I don't think the Woody shit is going to tarnish what people saw/see in her performance really.
