Amy was SO MUCH better anyway

Well obviously she was.

BEST PICTURE

12 Years a Slave

American Hustle

Captain Phillips

“Dallas Buyers Club”

Gravity

“Her”

Nebraska

“Philomena”

The Wolf of Wall Street

I watched "Nebraska" yesterday..What a boring movie..I really wanted to sleep at the cinema. And my friends too.. It has some funny scenes but it's certainly a boring film and without sense..Only June Squibb deserves in this film. Alexander Payne is overrated as hell. "The Descendants" was bad too. It's obvious that they want to promote some actors and directors in Hollywood. The fact that "Blue Jasmine" is out instead of "Nebraska" is a totally travesty..If you suffer from insomnia, you just found your medicine..

I watched "Her" today..It had an interesting script although i hadn't read the summary before i went to the cinema. I only knew that Joaquin Phoenix was the leading actor.. The movie was very good and it had very good directory too. But it was a little bit boring in some parts. I haven't watched a similar movie in the past and i found it original as story. "Spike Jonze" tried to make something different than the rest and he managed it!! I found "Adaptation" as one of the most overrated films in 2002. At least, "Her" deserves the attention from viewers and committees. Joaquin Phoenix was very good but he is unlycky for one more time. The competition was very strong to his category and i don't think that he would be the winner if he had a nomination..

Still need to see Captain Phillips, Gravity, Her and Nebraska. I'm one of the few that didn't enjoy American Hustle.

12 Years a Slave and The Wolf of Wall Street were really good, but I personally loved Dallas Buyers Club and Philomena.

I have seen most of the Best Picture nominees, apart from Nebraska and Her. I'm guessing 12 Years will win this, even though I would find Gravity a more deserving winner, as it's quite something else and come close to perfection.

I watched "Dallas Buyers Club" at the cinema yesterday. I was constantly tearful during the movie. Surely, it's one of the most emotional movies that i'ever watched at cinema (Like the ground-breaking "12 Years A Slave"). Matthew McConaughey was exceptional in this movie!!! I think that he managed to improve his acting. He was quite good in "Killer Joe" and "Lincoln Lawyer but he totally captivated me with this performance. Jared Leto was shattering!!! Not only he is a great singer but also he knows what it means "real acting"!! The script was interesting and the movie has an Academic directory. I can't find one bad thing to say about this film. It was exciting almost every minute. I hope Matthew and Jared will be the winners. I will be very happy for this result.

I shall RANK the best pic nominees that I have seen

“Gravity”

“Philomena”

“Captain Phillips”

“12 Years a Slave”

“American Hustle”

“Dallas Buyers Club”

“Her”

“Nebraska”

“The Wolf of Wall Street”

Should definitely get the other 2 done before the actual event and that's everything from the 6 main categories done (plus Animated and Best Song too).

I have seen them all bar 'Philomena', which seems to be the case with a lot of people. 'Dallas Buyers Club' was too hammy for me and 'Gravity' was a mediocre film wrapped up in incredible visuals (a better 'Prometheus' if you will).

'Her'

'Nebraska'

'12 Years a Slave'

'Captain Phillips'

'American Hustle'

'The Wolf of Wall Street'

'Dallas Buyers Club'

'Gravity'

I realy liked the IDEA behind Her and the performances were great, but it was way too long. Would have been much better at 90 minutes and not really lost anything (imo). Still a 7.5/10 though.

false false false

(love you though)

Oh it IS one of my FEW flaws: not being able to sit through long(ish) films unless they hold my attention. Especially in the second hour were so many go wrong. Captain Phillips is brilliantly paced for a 2 hour+ film, but then obviously the subject matter lends itself to that in a way Her can't.

Respectfully disagree with that flaw.

Timing was an issue I had with a few of the films this year but 'Her' got it spot on for me. Probably helped by the fact that i was so engrossed in it that i didn't take notice of how long it was going on for but the way it kept the tone so sombre for as long as it did and still have me wanting more was quite something.

Did you guys see it in the cinema? I often find for films like that that makes a big difference for me. I watched it on my laptop (as with all of them bar Gravity and American Hustle) so it's pretty easy to keep an eye on time and therefore notice it's passing.

(maybe I'm just a FILM HEATHEN underneath it all)

Mine was on my laptop plugged into my big screen so a mini cinema type.

But if I'm being honest I can see where your slight niggling criticism comes from as i've felt the same about a few others this year as I've said. Just comes down to how "lost" you get into the particular film I suppose. And on another day it might be a completely different experience as it often is.

I will rank the movies too :

1st 12 Years A Slave (Masterpiece)

2nd Gravity (Visually Stunning Movie)

3rd Dallas Buyers Club (Ground-breaking performances)

4th The Wolf of Wall Street (3 hours and you don't get bored)

5th Her (Clever scenario, boring/slow in some parts)

6th Captain Phillips (Realistic movie / shaky camera / it causes you nausea..)

7th American Hustle (Overrated director/film)

8th Nebraska (Boring as hell)

I haven't watched Philomena yet because it was released in my city/country yesterday. I'm going to watch it on Monday or Tuesday. So, i will have a comprehensive view.

I really am not looking forward to Nebraska at all, but I'm determined to watch them all before the BIG NIGHT.

If you watch it, you will need to drink a strong coffee..I would suggest you "Black Coffee" or "Frape"..Otherwise, you will catch your pillow before you see the end..
