It's funny they didn't bother looking at the songs Britney wrote as an analogy of what was person, for example, "Mannequin" from "Circus" is so personal considering her situation.
There's nothing personal to Blackout whatsoever, it just so happened she was going through a personal crisis at the time and that's about it.

To me this album is almost like how Rated R compares to the rest of Rihanna's albums, it's so much better and you can actually tell she's more involved and engaged. Sadly it's too late for her to be putting effort in now she's spent so many years being a robot and putting out any old rubbish like Femme Fatale.

Blackout is personal on a level where it really reflected her life at the moment (even if it wasn't particularly intentional by Britney herself): going to clubs, taking her new found freedom way too far and being very sexual (Freakshow, Get Naked), being a media target and not being ashamed of exposing herself sometimes (Piece Of Me, Gimme More) and going through a very tough split from Kevin Federline (Why Should I Be Sad?).

"Femme Fatale" is the example of what a pop album SHOULD be, it just lost the classic Britney feel, minus two or three tracks.

Hmmmmm I disagree. And I would be the first to defend an album completely penned by my idol.

"Work, Bitch", "Perfume", "Til It's Gone" and "Hold On Tight" are all better than anything on FF. But, Femme Fatale is one of her most consistent albums. The album had a theme, it's the yang to "Blackout". I obsessed over "Britney Jean" when it first came out, as any stan would... And I still adore it. But not as much as "In The Zone", "Blackout" or "Femme Fatale". That's my Holy Trinity.

ff is shit compared to bj http://exhalecdn.breatheheavy.com/public/style_emoticons/default/smokney2.gif

I'm not saying everyone should agree with me. I just prefer FF.

I can't prefer an album with bunch of generic songs with lots of autotune and her artistry was like zero there..

I like that album especially coz of HIAM, Criminal, SIWAK, but the album is lifeless.. you know what I mean.

BJ would be better than any album she has ever done if WILL.I.STOP. Wasnt involved.
BJ is one of her worst for me, even her earlier albums still had the iconic singles on them, whilst its great Britney is writing on these tracks they still feel very dull and throwaway, FF might have been lifeless and essentially didn't feel like a Britney album but it was much more enjoyable than a half assed attempt at a "personal" album.

Are we getting 'Alien'?? I need a video :(

Completely agree. He makes everything he touches so cold and lifeless which is the exact opposite from what you need in a "personal" album.

Having said that, the album has grown on me somewhat and there are some gems in it. But it doesn't come close to matching her previous efforts unfortunately.

We have the exact same opinions when it comes to Britney

Except with the new album, I didn't hear any improvement to be honest.

In the Zone is still one of me fave pop albums of all time, probably no.1 to be honest even over Fame: Monster. Imagine if she didn't have the breakdown and continued in that theme, she'd have been the new Janet Jackson without doubt.

I like "Blackout", it's very consistent. I just never know why it's so adored, only two of the songs really reflect what she was going through at the time. Half of them are just sexy, club songs. You can see more songs on BJ that are personal to her.

EXACTLY. The only reason "Perfume" sounds the most personal, is because SIA is magical. A dude from SHM produced "Work, Bitch". "Bodyache" is here thanks to "David Guetta".

Etc.

Will.I.Am. Is responsible for a glitch on "Alien", AND "Hold On TITE".

I think "personal" may be the wrong term to describe the material on Britney Jean, but you can really tell how much more passionately she comes across for the first time since like 2003.

Which has to be one of the best ballads from her entire catalogue, tbh.

I have to agree with you, though. Britney Jean just doesn't have enough to be up there with Britney's best albums and I also agree with you that Blackout, In The Zone and Femme Fatale (in that specific order) complete the perfect Britney Spears Trilogy.

'Circus'?? :o

Think i'm majorly biased because of how hard i stanned for her in that era but it's still such a riot of an album. 'Blackout' will always be my favourite though.

Album rate !?!?1
