You lot have had a damn good window tbh, Clichy is not far off as good as Cole so Cole not a massive loss for you and you get Gallas who with Toure will provide the best centre pairing in the premiership plus Baptista will get you goals

Serious challengers for runners up I would say

Yep, Lauren and Diaby also come back next month, after yesterday I am happy with how the transfer window has gone but a shame not to see Adebayor go and bring in a striker or an out and out winger. I still think we're not going to challenge for the Prem this year, next season I believe will be different and w'll put in a serious challenge.

I think they've been majorly ripped off with that deal. They rejected around £20m for Cole so this deal means they value Gallas at atleast £15m even though he was in the last year of his contract. An EXCELLENT deal for Chelsea, as Gallas was probably never going to play for them again!

You only bought Adebayor in January and the rules are if a team buys a player they can't sell him within 12 months so earliest you can dump is January, we wanted rid of Danny Murphy but rules prevented it

Worked out ok for both sides, Cole could have left on a Bosman at the end of the season so Arsenal were grateful to get a world class defender and a bit of cash I guess. Yes Gallas was in last year of his contract too but might not have gone to Arsenal if he was a free agent

Think that's all of the ones involving Prem clubs highlighted. Can't believe Villareal actually PAID for Cygan. And Kuqi at £2.5m. Good business for Blackburn there!

Nice to see Chimbonda finally got his wish as well ... even if he IS an ungrateful tw*t.

We got Krompkamp in January but he's left for PSV now though, but that was a swap deal though when he came to Liverpool.

Yeah I think that the rule is if cash is paid, as you got in a swap deal no cash was involved so rule don't apply, I think Arsenal paid about £3m for Adebayor

Yeah on his day Chimbonda could be a very good player for us but I have serious reservations about his attitude

I thought that was why. I'm glad we got rid of him as he was unsettled and didn't look up to the part of playing in the premiership, but it just leaves Liverpool a bit short of cover at right back.

Sunderland have been very busy, i knew he would buy a few players from celtic

Oh yeah :( Hopefully Baptista will push him out the team. ^_^

West Ham are having "exploratory discussions" over a possible takeover.

The move comes hot on the heels of the club luring Argentine pair Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to the club.

"Discussions are at an early stage and there can be no certainty that an offer for West Ham will be forthcoming," said a club statement to the Stock Exchange.

"The board also confirms that there is no contractual link between the signing of the players (Tevez and Mascherano) and the bid discussions."

Media Sports Investment (MSI) owned the rights to the Argentine stars, who signed from Corinthians on transfer deadline day.

MSI have a stake in the Brazilian club and pulled out of a potential takeover of the Hammers in November 2005 after failing to agree a price with the club's directors

Well this should explain the whole Tevez and Mascherano signings for West Ham

Arsenal are reported to have signed Brazilian teenager Denilson, although there has been no confirmation from The Emirates Stadium.

The Premier League have announced that the 18-year-old has signed for The Gunners, subject to receiving international clearance.

If the deal is ratified, Denilson will be joining from Sao Paulo and he is a highly-rated defensive midfielder.

Denilson would link up with compatriots Gilberto Silva and Julio Baptista in North London and could eventually cost Arsenal £4 million.

This is on SSN so it could be true

Chelsea say they sold William Gallas because he threatened to score an own goal if he was selected for their first game of the season.

The Stamford Bridge club have released a statement explaining their reasons for allowing the French defender to join Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

Gallas, 29, allegedly refused to play again for the Blues.

Chelsea claim he said he would score an own goal if he was forced to play against Manchester City on 20 August.

The statement says Cole initially refused to play against Liverpool in last season's FA Cup semi-final and how, if selected to play against City he threatened to score an own goal, get sent off or make deliberate mistakes.

The full club statmement read: "Chelsea believes it is important for our supporters to be made aware of the full facts regarding William Gallas and the lack of respect he showed to the fans, the manager and the club.

"Despite leaving he continues to attack José Mourinho and this cannot be left unchallenged.

"Chelsea made William Gallas a very substantial and attractive new contract offer to stay towards the end of last season. This was rejected.

"The issue was purely one of money, despite his public comments that he wanted a new challenge, to play abroad and so forth. These were just a smokescreen to cover up the fact he was hawking himself to the highest bidder.

"Having failed to secure his demands, his position became increasingly intransigent and unacceptable.

"He initially refused to play against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final last season in an effort to force an increased contract offer.

"As is now well documented he refused to join up with the team in Los Angeles during pre-season, despite agreeing the dates for his return as the other World Cup players did, with the club.

"When Jose Mourinho generously offered him a way back into the 'family' after the American tour, this was thrown back in the Chelsea manager's face.

"The manager told him that, even if he did not agree a new contract but returned to the "family" and abided by the rules, he would still select the best players available and would not punish him playing wise.

"However despite meetings to try and resolve the problems Gallas made it clear to Jose Mourinho he would never play for Chelsea again.

"Before the first game of the season against Manchester City, when only four defenders were available and John Terry was doubtful with an injury, he refused to play.

"He went on to threaten that if he was forced to play, or if he was disciplined and financially punished for his breach of the rules, that he could score an own goal or get himself sent off, or make deliberate mistakes.

"Clearly this was a totally unacceptable situation for the manager, the team and the club. So a collectively agreed solution in Chelsea's interests had to be found, hence his departure.

"Chelsea has a wage structure in place that is valued not only on the contribution of the player to the manager and the team, but also on a player?s respect for the club and contribution to the promotion and image of the club off the field. Every player is expected to play their part in this.

"William Gallas rarely recognised these responsibilities. He also failed to recognise the role Jose Mourinho and Chelsea played in helping him become a double Premiership champion for a player whose only league title prior to that had been in the French Second Division."
