So that time of the year again. How are well indulging or escaping from Valentine's with our movies?

Not my favourite of genres and i tend to go for love's lost in the ones i enjoy.

Soppy or sultry?? What are your favourites?

Also feel free to update any comedy or horrors you're checking out too.

Yeah, this isn't really my thing at all and probably the genre I have the most to catch up on (Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Pretty Woman etc.). My favourite one is definitely Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (despite the slight sci-fiey element), excellent film.

I'm not opposed to romances and like when they that bend the rules a bit (gotta give Titanic props in not being totally predictable in its love story, even though I didn't like most of the film), but formulaic Mills & Boon esque romances - no thanks.

Gotta mention the most famous love story of all, 'Romeo & Juliet'. The Baz Lhurman version. Absolutely brilliant! Such a well executed, modernised tale of the classic story.

Overall though, I don't "hate" the genre, I just don't like the over cheesy love films. I do like things like 'She's Out Of My League', 'Friends With Benefits' or 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' the most though. However, I do like me some Rachel McAdams it seems! 'The Notebook', 'Time Travellers Wife' and 'About Time' are all... <3

I don't hate Romantic movies, but I won't go out of my way to see one either.

Cheesy love movies are the worst movies, I'd rather watch a horror movie (seriously I despise horror) or a Disney Movie ( )

they have a channel... sky movie valentines. it's actually enough for me to keep away from any of the movie channels until it goes away

but hmm let's see

i love the daniele stiel movies. they are usually pretty romantic

a lot of people will probably disagree when i say the terminal- but i think the love between victor and amelia is lovely

bridget jones (which i've seen a lot of times)

I only really like romance if it is in the Rom Com genre. Pure romance and drama are dull to me.
whilst I don't usually like a film with too much of a happy ending (need a bit of heartbreak or STRUGGLE), Jeux d'enfants gets me every time (tho this is hardly grim-free tbf)

The Terminal!! I don't disagree with that at all, seems like a forgotten gem in Tom Hanks' career :)

Generally though I avoid romantic films so I can't offer other examples unless Silver Linings Playbook counts

BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOUR (minus the bad sex scenes - don't let them break the immersion!). When I finished it, not only did I forget that the protagonist's a fictional character, but I felt like I knew her as well as I know my closest friends. Weird being a voyeur of somewhere's most crucial life moments over the course of 5-8 years, which in real life you'd only really experience when it comes to yourself rather than anyone else.

(I may be rambling at this point & I realise it took like two weeks to reply to this)

This - 100% - I wouldn't even watch a pure romantic film if I had nothing else to do and was paid to do so (unless it was a substantial sum).

Favourite rom-com - Teacher's Pet (Clark Gable and Doris Day) - Regina if you've not seen this - you HAVE to!

I love romance movies such as Titanic where there is more to just the relationship
If the sole, or even main purpose, of a film is a romance or relationship count me out. Got no time for that. If there just so happens to be a romance going on in the story (as there almost always IS) then I can deal with it.
I quite like The Hunger Games and disney films since the main plots aren't always the romance
