May 7, 201411 yr At the moment I would say the top 10 could look like this on Saturday: 1. United Kingdom 2. Hungary 3. Denmark 4. Sweden 5. Armenia 6. Greece 7. Azerbaijan 8. The Netherlands 9. Malta 10. Norway/Ukraine
May 7, 201411 yr Netherlands below Azerbaijan?! I'd genuinely have Armenia low top ten at this point. The big selling point is how contemporary it is (or at least was two years ago). That it's doing nothing at all on iTunes tells me I was right in thinking that the Armenian emperor is wearing no clothes.
May 7, 201411 yr I'm thinking of a top 10 looking something like this 1. UK 2. Hungary 3. Malta 4. Austria 5. Norway 6. Greece 7. The Netherlands 8. Armenia 9. Ukraine 10. Sweden (the rule is 2 Scandis in the top 10 and the more I hear it the more I'm convinced than the juries will kill of Denmark's chances). Edited May 7, 201411 yr by LexC
May 7, 201411 yr LOL at Sweden finishing TENTH. Come on now. It's the second-best performer on iTunes so far from last night - and people don't really tend to go out of their way to download Eurovision ballads normally. I'd say Hungary should definitely be more worried at this point - they're doing third best on iTunes performance, but that's another one that had contemporary chart appeal as its big selling point.
May 7, 201411 yr MONEY WHERE MOUTH IS 1. UK 2. Sweden 3. Netherlands 4. Malta 5. Hungary 6. Greece 7. Armenia 8. Norway 9. Austria 10. Ukraine That top five could really be in any order though. And that bottom five for that matter.
May 7, 201411 yr I coudn't begin to predict the final right now, I'll try after we know the Semi 2 qualifiers. I don't think I dare predict a UK win, I'm not sure that it will connect *quite* as much as we're all hoping it to. I'm obviously very happy to be proven wrong. I hope it's a close contest with something like 10 points or less separating the top two. Unless of course the UK finish 2nd a few points adrift of the win but god knows that's happened enough times in the past.
May 7, 201411 yr That top four would just be TOO perfect somehow Tirren, perfection doesn't happen at Eurovision. (only in Melodifestivalen )
May 7, 201411 yr If Azerbaijan can WIN in an open year with a dull ballad then I see no reason why they can't finish in the top 10.
May 7, 201411 yr I'll say: 01 UK 02 Sweden 03 Hugary 04 Ukraine 05 The Netherlands 06 Greece 07 Denmark 08 Malta 09 Austria 10 Armenia
May 7, 201411 yr If Azerbaijan can WIN in an open year with a dull ballad then I see no reason why they can't finish in the top 10. Oh, I'm not suggesting they can't finish top ten (although Running Scared was way more universal than Start A Fire is, and the reforms should make it difficult for a jury to obviously stack its votes to Azerbaijan), just that I can't see them finishing above the Netherlands at all at this point.
May 7, 201411 yr As lovely as it is, I feel a bit sad that Calm After The Storm is going to outperform the magnificent beauty of Birds. The Netherlands have finally got their mojo back, of all the countries set for consecutive top tens *.* Their staging, song quality and attitude to the contest has been spot on the past couple of years.
May 7, 201411 yr I agree with the UK/Sweden top 2 predictions. It could finish either way. Obviously I hope UK for #1 though!
May 7, 201411 yr Are you really objective with predicting UK to win or is it a home country thing? If I had to choose one mid tempo/ballad, I'd choose Undo. My money's on Denmark, Basim is such a great performer and the song is really catchy and very current sounding (meaning retro a la Bruno Mars and JT) France is my dark horse.

UK and Sweden are my top 2 and miles ahead of the rest so I'd be thrilled with this! Are you really objective with predicting UK to win or is it a home country thing? Even if 'Children Of The Universe' wasn't our entry I'd still say it was 'the one' this year. The fact it is our entry makes it all the more exciting! I don't see Denmark doing the double, it's very love it or hate it.

You can't categorise "Undo" and "Children of the Universe" together. They are very different songs. Ballad does not equal Mid-tempo. UK are in the second half which might push them a bit ahead of Sweden I think.
May 7, 201411 yr Denmark is inane drivell and the only thing it has going for it is that it's 23rd (wich actually is probably too late of a draw because by then the fatigue has generally set in). It'll be very fortunate to come top 10.
May 7, 201411 yr Are you really objective with predicting UK to win or is it a home country thing? If I had to choose one mid tempo/ballad, I'd choose Undo. Absolutely. I really don't see what could stop her at this point - it's memorable, well performed, catchy, contemporary, performing in the second half, and it's coming in the most underwhelming and open year in a long time where none of the other contenders quite fit the winning formula well enough. The stars are all aligning. Everyone else has something holding them back. Undo is amazingly slick, catchy, and memorable, but it's possibly that bit too cookie-cutter and safe to actually go the distance. Hungary is the most modern and chart-friendly thing in the contest, but it's also a song about child abuse - hardly the kind of thing that gets the party crowd speed dialling. And, well, I like to think the ludicrous Armenian hype for a form-free song without a real hook has been put to bed after last night. The Netherlands could well do it, but I don't think it'll stand out quite as much once it's joined by Norway (taking some of the stripped-back votes) and Malta (taking some of the country/folk votes) in the final, and I don't think it'll be as memorable in a field of 26 songs as opposed to a field of 16 where it was right near the end (although it could end up being placed in the last five). Denmark's entry one that borrows so, so obviously from the source material that I think it'll definitely put some of the jurors off, if nothing else. I have the feeling that entries that really egregiously rip off acts from outside of Eurovision go down better than those who egregiously rip off acts from Eurovision (*fails to shed tear for Tanja*), but even so - when was the last time a straight-up rip-off actually won Eurovision? I can see it possibly doing well, but I can't see it challenging and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it flopped. After all, Krista last year went for all the same schtick only to fall flat.
