Ironically, Greg Kurstin produced both "Hey Boy" and "Hello" :D

Well, he made a far better job with Hello than he did with Hey Boy!! The two are like night and day in terms of quality.
I don't see the whole hype around Hello, its an average song in my humble opinion, Hey Boy is the same and based on these two tracks Greg Kurstin wouldn't be my number 1 selection as producer.

Incredible sales though. I, like many, find that song very overrated.
There is no stopping Adele and this new chapter of her career looks to be another monster. I miss the days of Take That as monster sellers :(

So do I. Think back to The Flood and Progress, the hype and anticipation was immense. Hard to believe that things could change so drastically in only 4 years -guess that's the music business for you! That said, I do think they've contributed to their dip in popularity.

I wonder if Jay would still be here if they'd approached things differently?

I'm of the opinion he was reluctant to have Rob back - but overruled. He didn't want the documentary to air = again overruled. The tax - poor advice and a short sighted approach which ultimately cost them their reputation - in the eyes of some at least. Poor strategic marketing and promotion, and lastly a musical direction too far removed from their initial sound.

I'm hopeful they'll all reunite for the anniversary album. I think we'd see hype similar to the Progress era if it happens

I dont think they will ever have similar hype to progress again. The Beautiful World, The Circus and Progress era's were all the peaks of their career. I think in terms of sales a new Greatest Hits will sell well and will be a long term seller and should eventually become a million seller but outside that they will have moderate success in sales terms. As fans we cant complain, i was lucky enough to be a fan first time round and i never thought we would ever get this second era which ended up been better than the first.

I remember when i first heard of the Ultimate Collection getting released i was like ya top 20 entry and fly out of the charts, how wrong was i and when i heard they were reforming i kind of thought hmm it wont be successful and look what happened. They have almost 10 brill years under their phase 2 era and for them to be achieving what they are achieving at this stage of their career they are doing great. Three is not their best album but also not their worst but overall they are releasing music i enjoy so i cant complain. I hope they make a move back to their more familiar sound when they record new material as songs like hey boy dont really cut the mustard for me.

I'm sure the decline in sales this era won't have gone unnoticed by the record label, who will no doubt be raising the issue of returning to the sound of their most successful records.

However, with a no.1 album and single under their belts from this era, they are still doing well.

Think it's important to factor in the changing music scene too. The streaming for albums and singles now has and will continue to hit them.

Very valid points. The slightly worrying fact is the changing music scene and down turn in sales is a problem all round for artists, but, that said Adele comes along and blows it all out the water. The right material and re-connecting with music buyers is a big factor, another rule the world would help Take That hugely.

I hope Adele doesn't beat the first week sales of BW, Circus or Progress. Album streaming could do very well for her and inflate the sales
It is highly likely Adele will match their sales, like you i hope it does not happen but i am of the belief she will achieve huge first week sales if the sales of her single are anything to follow by.

Hopefully it'll be under 400k. Still think Progress is untouchable in terms of first week and first day sales
Adele has the potential to go very big with opening sales, that said, it may sell reasonably well from here straight through to Christmas rather than massive first week sales. Hard to call but i am of the belief she will have huge opening sales.
Adele is set to have a record-breaking opening week in America (I'm talking 2 million in the first week). I'm pretty sure she will accomplish that as well in the UK.

Hey boy is number 94 this week. I am really surprised they managed to stay in the top 100, it is still a dreadful result but not as dreadful as i had thought.

Adele is still no1 on pre-orders alone on ITunes so it's likely to be massive. I like "hello" but don't quite get all the hype. 21 was a very average album, only a few good tracks and the rest were fillers.

Its number 94 on the sales only chart, on he official chart it isnt top 100

I really would not be surprised if Adele hits 2 million album sales in America.
