It is all very lazy, if they dont promote and make music lovers aware the single exists i dont see the point of releasing singles. The handling of singles is a big issue for a long time now and worse it appears to be getting.

It was easier for me to accept the other singles flopping, but I really can't stand seeing Higher Than Higher do so badly. I looove that song.

I think I've spammed hundreds of fans going to see TT this week, telling them to spread the word about the single :) I'm fighting with the wind mills, lol :)

TT could have sneaked in a couple of tv appearances if they wanted. They're in London this week, so there would have been no inconvenience.

I just don't understand the way they only seem to promote the first single. It doesn't make sense. They haven't made a video as far as I can see and fans have been asking on Twitter where the video is.

It's not just Take That's record company who don't seem to have a clue though. I've noticed people on here saying the same about other bands/singers. I really like another Manchester based band called Hurts, but the UK arm of their record company just don't seem to have a clue how to promote them so they do well on the continent, but hardly anyone has even heard of them here.

Milly, I think you should raise the white flag and accept defeat!! :)

Why they release singles is beyond me; they're obviously completely disinterested in charting outside of the initial release. It really is a very short term strategy as good single chart positions often have a positive impact on album sales. By the way I heard HTH on Radio 2 this morning but it won't make any different. No promo = no sales.

Oh for the halcyon days of 2006 when they had Patience ,Shine and I'd Wait for Life and 2009 when they had GD, Said It All and UAN.

The handling of singles is crazy, i agree singles help sell albums, but people have to know the singles are out, they really dont seem to care outside the lead single. The single releases are also usually messy especially the progress singles. With them in London they should have lined up promotion.

Three sold about 2,500 last week, i am hoping the tour can help it climb again this week.

What I'm also is missing is proper b-sides with their singles nowadays. The lack of promotion and the lack of b-sides, it all feels so lazy and I don't understand either why bother with releasing singles when it's done this way.

I'd forgotten about the B Sides Cat. Some of them were really, really good and better than the A Sides. It's such a shame because B Sides give fans a chance to hear songs which don't make it onto the albums for one reason or another.

I acknowledge that they're touring at present but they are in London for some considerable time. Even if they couldn't make live shows they could certainly record something at the arena. If they'd chosen HTH over Portrait they could simply have used concert footage for the video, at least there would be a video of sorts to promote the single.

If they aren't going to promote, at least do a said it all type release that offers something worth buying, rather than just repackaging the song we have on the album on a separate disc.

The physicals will at least ensure a top 200 placement. Better than nothing

Agree on all the points and i love the idea of doing a said it all package, i liked that idea. I do find it confusing they dont perform higher than higher on the tour but are releasing it as a single, it doesnt make any sense at all. I too miss the b sides, i miss the days when they really out in the effort with singles.

There's a deal on iTunes for the TT albums, which helps keep III in top 40.

I'm glad to see it climb.

It's £4.99, so at least they timed that well!

Gary is on the One show on Froday talking about Finding Neverland and TT

He's on The One Show today and Chris Eavans on Friday.

I'm wondering if they let HTH flop because they're more interested in putting new music out there.

They should not knowingly let a single flop, they should cancel a single rather than let it flop.
Three drops one place from yesterdays midweek position, currently number 36. I had thought it would be higher today than yesterday :(

As long as it stays in top 40, it's fine with me. There's only a few sales difference between the places after all.

Looks like we will be seeing new music soon!

@GaryBarlow: Just finished in the studio ! New TT music on the go !!! Exciting x

He doesn't mention whether it's a re-release of III or a new record altogether

I am unsure whether i want a full brand new album or a re-package of Three in the style of Progressed. New music is exciting to hear and i am truly looking forward to it.

Another week in the top 40, half the year now which is good. It should reach 500,000. If only higher than higher was properly managed...it is number 1 in the physical chart this week and could have helped boost album sales
