Good to see that the album is holding up well - however, their sales are seeing a devastating decline from 2011, even accounting for the down turn in the single and album charts. I genuinely think they've alienated a large section of the buying public with their sound of late. Their strategy has been naïve and their marketing and promotion dire.

Single releases are important to the overall marketing strategy. A well produced and well crafted single would have resulted in far greater album sales for the re-released lll. If Hey Boy is the best they can come up with then it doesn't bode well for the new tracks on the album. Does anyone think that Sam Smith or Ed Sheeran would have achieved such high album sales if their singles hadn't grabbed the buying public into taking a chance on their albums?

Can anyone confirm if this will be their first single since their comeback not to reach no 1 or 2 in the charts. By this I mean a new single pending an album release ? Patience, Greatest Day , The Flood and These Days reached 1 or 2 in the singles chart as far as I can recall.

Love Love reached #15 on the official charts.

Yeah, and then it dropped to #39 the week after.

Hey Boy is #18 in the midweek data coming through. Thought it would of been a little higher to be honest. I hope it can stay top 40

Thanks Iamstrong. I suppose the difference is Love Love came off the back of an almost 2 million selling album at the time, whereas Hey Boy has come off the back of much smaller album sales. It appears this single is causing a lot of discussion on forums, with people very divided about it.

Falling down iTunes very quickly now. It'll be out of the top 40 tomorrow. I don't know if it'll be able to hang on inside the top 40 until Friday officially

I've just heard the first snippet of Adele's new single. I'm not a fan of hers, but I have to admit that's the sound I would have wanted from the boys this time.

I wish they'd have chosen Carry Me Home to promote the new edition of III.

Milly, I've also just heard a brief section of Adele's single and she obviously knows her fan base well. She hasn't moved away from her original sound. The rest of her album may be more experimental but this is classical Adele.

Take That have tried to be clever and strayed too far from their traditional sound. They thought they could continually experiment but it doesn't work. Most people like a familiarity to their music- something they can identify with and certainly not an homage to the electronic sound of the 80's/90's.

Do you happen to know where I can find Carry Me Home? I can see it's one of the four new tracks but I can't find out where I can hear a segment. I think they will be disappointed and surprised with the chart position for this single, I really do.

I don't think there is anywhere a snippet of Carry Me Home. I said I'd have liked it to be a single because, when it was leaked at the beginning of the tour, I liked it a lot. Unfortunately, the guy who posted the snippet then deleted it after a few days. But I think you'll like it, because, at least in that snippet, Gary's voice was sooo clear and it didn't seem to have been distorted by electronical sounds.

Down to#28, so it is still top 40 on sales, I hope streaming can pick up!

Carry me Home did sound good. To be honest I don't think on air on sale works for TT. The bulk of their fan base just isn't buying music like that.

Do we know how they are doing on streams?

I hope they get a top 40 official with it even if its number 40 itself, my worry is its falling fast and i dont know but im assuming its not doing great on streaming.

It's looking close. If they can stay in the top 40 today and tomorrow then it should be fine. But judging by the rate of drop, they could be out today.
I will be very disappointed should this happen. It is not the start we wanted for part 2 of the Three campaign.

So so disappointed. Not even making the top 40. What an embarrassment. It'll drop out of the top 40 on iTunes early tomorrow. It was 20 in the midweek charts yesterday.
It's number 40 today,so sales must have all but stoped. It's a really worrying start to the rerelease unless something major turns things around and fast.

Streaming has really hurt it too
The problem is it's not a great song and don't think its getting much airplay. Is the video out yet too? Not seen it anywhere. I suspect the reissue might struggle and maybe miss the top10 even.

I think the reissue could be ok. The DVD packaged with it will hopefully drive its sales
Hopefully the DVD will save the reissue. I think they need to listen to their fans for the next material as in general I think fans want a strong ballad. While I love these days for example id love another rule the world or patience style release.
