Posted February 21, 201411 yr is there anything in bjsc that you had considered sending, and then passed on against your better judgement for whatever reason? i think my greatest downfall in bjsc is passing on songs that would eventually become big hits, which isn't always indicative of it being a BJSC smash but yanno - ben pearce 'what i might do' (was considering this for AAAGES before i finally gave up on it when hits sent it to the shadeux eurovision thing we did in teams) - klingande 'jubel / punga' - chris malinchak 'so good to me' and then a few others that did better than entries i had sent in their respective contests - shlohmo / jeremih 'bo peep' (and i would have a flawless Q rate oopth) - sophie 'bipp' (although i would probably have sent nothing more to say / eeehhh now instead, and i love slava more so i did alright there) - tydi 'something about you' - cyril hahn 'perfect form' (thought it was too cheap eek) how about you?
February 21, 201411 yr Considered 'Tsunami' (though many did!) but decided on Fallulah who DNQd. But the biggest DUH! moment was not sending Postiljonen 'Supreme'. Went for Artymove who came stone dead last. To sum up, I shouldn't choose my entries.

Went for Artymove who came stone dead last. To sum up, I shouldn't choose my entries. oh yes, i was on postiljonen as well but MUCH like 'tsunami' everyone was - i knew most of us weren't going to get it anyways!
February 21, 201411 yr I seem to remember there was a flurry of hype for Helena Papariozou - Baby It's Over in my original contest and it was going to be my entry but I thought someone else would go for it so left it alone. I did get a top 10 with Alex Young though so it was still a good debut  I really should've sent Baby it's Over for either my 2nd or 3rd contest once the hype was dead, but I was set on Jolin Tsai for XXXIII and then I thought BIO was "too old" as I hadn't been in BJSC for long, so sent Love Me Crazy instead which flopped of course. I'm fairly sure BIO would've been a hit.
February 21, 201411 yr 'So Good To Me' is a big one for me as well, I'm not sure it would have done that well in BJSC anyway though. On a similar note I wish I had sent HAIM's 'Forever' even though that bombed when it was actually entered, just so I could claim to have been on that hype before everyone else ~ The only time I can think of where I passed on an entry that went on to be a hit was 'Andvekur', which was only one of the least successful top 10s of 2013 so not a huge loss rly. Was considering it in the month I sent Orphic Oxtra which I think on balance was still the right decision :D
February 21, 201411 yr The biggest regret was probably two summers ago when I was debating on whether to send PSY's Gangnam Style or 2NE1's SCREAM (after I Love You was vetoed). Went for the latter as I thought Gangnam Style would flop so much due to it's novelty but ended up a fair few people on this board liked it enough to sail through to the final. :drama: (obviously sent it the following month but was vetoed as it was blowing up by then)
February 21, 201411 yr Oh and also this which I could probably still send without being vetoed but I'm not gonna because I don't like recycling ~ Tenn4RKcLl4 So much better than the 2 San Zhi songs that have been sent :(
February 21, 201411 yr It wasn't sent, but my biggest regret is definitely not sending Of Monsters & Men - Dirty Paws . I somehow got the impression I'd do better with I Am a Camera (which I didn't even like that much), I'm pretty sure it could genuinely have done well for me and stopped that year from being a total failure :( 5-HT is the main one that I wanted to send until I found something else I liked more, despite that going top 10 and me finishing stone dead last, I do still prefer my own entry (which was Woman E). I also almost sent Indiana - Bound (would've only done partially better than I did that contest (last again)) and Robert Delong's Global Concepts (:() & Autoheart's Agoraphobia (which I did better than with my entry that month, so that's cool). Trifoski clearly quite notorious in doing this. Edited February 21, 201411 yr by Chez Wombat
February 21, 201411 yr Was considering the following at some point: Gabrielle Aplin - Please Don't Say You Love Me Laura Jansen - Queen of Elba Kinda wish I'd sent them but I don't regret what I did end up sending in those respective contests so I'm not too gutted.
February 21, 201411 yr For a start I should've sent Tsunami, but I'm pretty sure it would've been vetoed if I had Also Sharon Doorson's Killer would've brought me to the top 10 for the first time (Though there never seems to be any hype behind me besides my flop entry Wallpaper, so I doubt I would have made the top 10 with it)
February 21, 201411 yr I've passed on two winners in my time in the contest, most notably Cerahtonia back in December 2012 and Northern Lights by Kate Boy in January 2013 (which I was considering for the previous contest). Was also very strongly considering sending We Are Young by fun. in November 2011, but Queen Of Hearts got in the way. I guess that's not so much one I SHOULD have sent, but at least one I would have been happy to have sent.
February 22, 201411 yr I remember considering Armin van Buuren's This Is What It Feels Like once, but I sent The Aston Shuffle instead :( Obviously the following month it looked like smashing in the UK so was too cheap. I also decided against sending Animals and Tsunami as I thought they were too cheap. Missed out on a top 10 (Tsunami) and a TBO top 3 (Animals) there :( Plus I thought Michael Woods' Platinum Chains would be a huge flop so I wrote that off quickly. So to see FSR Rontvia get a #4 hit with it was quite sad (but happy at the same time as I love the song and wanted it to do well)
February 22, 201411 yr Plus I thought Michael Woods' Platinum Chains would be a huge flop so I wrote that off quickly. So to see FSR Rontvia get a #4 hit with it was quite sad (but happy at the same time as I love the song and wanted it to do well) It seemed like such an obvious smash to me, I was amazed that you hadn't confirmed it seeing as I discovered it through your personal chart (when it was at #1!) :o This is a list I made a couple of years ago of songs I either very nearly sent or definitely should have done at some point. I've added a few at the bottom from since then: Sarah Dawn Finer – I Remember Love Eisblume - Eisblumen The Cardigans - Don't Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds) Hello Saferide - Anna Olivia Broadfield – Don't Cry Edith Backlund – What I've Become Charlotte Hatherley - bast*rdo Stella - Underground Camilla Blom Polfeldt - Gone Janet Leon – Let Go Multicyde - Not For The Dough Cassandra Steen feat Adel Tawil - Stadt Voe - Don't Talk To Me The Pipettes - So I'll Say Goodbye Cosmo4 - What's Your Name Electric Valentine - A Night With You Name The Pet - American Boys Annie - Me Plus One West End Girls with Magnus Carlson - What Have I Done to Deserve This? Dacia – Muistot The Arrows - Entropy Sara Bareilles - Chasing The Sun Also, Stafford Brothers feat Lil' Wayne and Christina Milian - Hello was my summer anthem last year, but I didn't bother confirming it as I thought it'd get vetoed, so confirmed one of my trio of DNQ's instead
February 22, 201411 yr It seemed like such an obvious smash to me, I was amazed that you hadn't confirmed it seeing as I discovered it through your personal chart (when it was at #1!) :oThat was the contest I sent Aston Shuffle, I thought they would do better as the song actually had vocals and sounded like it would get pop voters onboard. But I don't regret Aston Shuffle too much as it's one of my favourite entries and it did well in Rejects. It's just that in hindsight Armin or Woods would've done better.
February 22, 201411 yr Sara Bareilles - Chasing The Sun I was thinking of sending 'Brave' when it firstly came out and no one bar fans knew about it. But I opted with Woodkid instead....... so I don't regret that. :kink: 'Chasing the Sun' is also very good. Love the song, shame it's not a single. I wanted to send Step Kissers 'Rocker' at the end of last year (instead of the vetoed 'Stay High' and DNQed 'The Way We Touch') but the chance it's gone, as it's been used in UP. Also: Magic Man - Every Day, I have gone with poppy 'What's Going On' instead. I'm surprised no one had entered MM that contest, as everybody was talking about sending it. 'What's Going On?' did quite well coming to #12 but now I like 'Every Day' more and I wish I'd have gone with that.
February 23, 201411 yr should have defo fought for phone sex / julia / operate but it doesn't keep me awake at night like Edited February 23, 201411 yr by 152chris
February 23, 201411 yr Ashes of paradise. I was going to send it the following month. I loved ' Fools' too much :drama:
February 23, 201411 yr Songs I considered sending which did better than I did that contest: - Samsaya - ADHD (Love Me Not) - Elin Lanto - Love Made Me Stupid - Dolly Rockers - Automatic Girl - The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - Heart Attack - Rebecca Stella - Give Me That O - Girls' Generation - Flower Power - Ghost Beach; Noosa - Close Enough - John De Sohn; Kristin Amparo - Dance Our Tears Away - Sharon Doorson - Killer - DVBBS & Borgeous - Tsunami - BROODS - Bridges ...too many recently :(
February 23, 201411 yr Anything I consider but don't send sits on my potentials list for dry months when I can't find anything new out there or it grows on me. Envole Moi is one such example and that turned out quite well in the end!
March 4, 201411 yr There's actually been a weird amount of times recently when I discover an awesome song and think to myself maybe Dalisska should return to the contest with it. Then I discover it was already sent and won the contest like 1-3 months prior. (It's happened about 3 times so far) Edit: I guess that's not songs I should have sent....unless I had a time machine.
