March 18, 201411 yr Appaz there are country-wide celebrations in Russia. Even in this dump of a town. Eh... One of the people who is in our organisation is from Sevastopol so it's going to be a PAIN for him to change documents (including his contract with our company) and shit now. They are all HAPPY they are now Russia too. I just don't get it. In a few years they will realise literally nothing changed.
March 18, 201411 yr It would have been fine, for me at least, for Crimea to go to Russia if it were done under a fair and carefully paced referendum rather than a rushed sham of one to rival any election under a tinpot dictator. Even if it wouldn't be my preferred option, that would be an independent Crimea with strong ties to both countries, it'd be something. The world doesn't need yet more areas of disputed sovereignty where diplomatic talks on them are frozen indefinitely to cause tension between the two sovereign states involved forevermore.
March 18, 201411 yr Think we should just repeat what Russia have done to Crimea with that little bit of Russia that's at the heart of the baltic states and see how they like it.
March 18, 201411 yr We could do with a 'EU Federal Capital Territory', Kaliningrad seems as good a place as any to host it! Edit - Maybe annex St Petersberg while we're at it and give Finland and Estonia a nice wee land border.
March 18, 201411 yr Putin on today's message to MPs heavily compared Crimea to Kosovo where Western Countries backed separative moods and admitted Kosovo as a separate territory without the agreement of Belgrad. WELL. Whatever anyone in the world says, Crimea is factually Russian. Ukrainian army won't do anything (as there is no Ukrainian army as well as a proper Ukrainian government), and other countries shouldn't and won't take part too. Poor our economy. Up to 0,5% of country's budget is going to be spent SOLELY to Crimea. Pensions and other subsidies are 2-2.5 times lower in Ukraine than in Russia and this will lead to a much bigger sum of money which needs to be spent on the social governmental responsibilities there. And that's in the country which "DOESN'T HAVE" the money for expensive treatment of some rare illnesses, the budget of that case is being cut from year to year. Try to defend Russians in your own country and then go to Weirdly enough, the rouble keeps growing for the second day, and our markets are regaining too. Apparently there were shootings in Crimea today............................

March 18, 201411 yr St. Petersburg! But I'm all for moving to Finland. Ah! Sorry, been a rough day.
March 18, 201411 yr http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-26637296 Allegedly it would now appear that the Russian military, sorry Putin "Pro-Russia Defence Force" (that everyone in the entire world knows is f***ing Russian Military), have shot at Ukrainian Military leading to the death of an officer. Russia are claiming one of their's has been killed. It's uncertain if it's two incidents or the same incident. All a bit sketchy but if it continues I can't see Russia holding a truce.
March 18, 201411 yr I think it's the same incident. There are 4 or 5 out of 23 Crimea bases that denied going to the new (pro-)Russian powers, the shooting was at one of these. I don't get why it's needed at all when Putin for an hour was trying to explain to the whole world that no one had died in Crimea.

If he does something like START A WAR, for example, he'll basically confirm there are Russian soldiers there. Doubt he'll do anything, as hypocritical and abhorrent he is.
March 18, 201411 yr Read something today that amused me to no end. So, many people think that the West is like the worst thing ever (literally). And Ukraine, being so close to Europe and becoming a EU member, would become 'ONE OF THEM' if it indeed went through with it. One pro-Putin nutjob said that Russia needs to take the 'Russian' letters away from the Ukranian alphabet. "This way they will only have i, ï, etc. Let's see how they are able to get them back from us!!1". I laughed so hard. Oh and other nutjobs state that "[slavs] still have the best genes. The french genes are... just not right. That's why they want to adopt all our children". WAS THAT YOU SAYING THIS ALEXRANGE <333
March 18, 201411 yr Think we should just repeat what Russia have done to Crimea with that little bit of Russia that's at the heart of the baltic states and see how they like it. To be fair, Kaliningrad is overwhelmingly ethnically Russian. Although the cartographer in me wishes it weren't.
March 18, 201411 yr To be fair, Kaliningrad is overwhelmingly ethnically Russian. Although the cartographer in me wishes it weren't. Minor inconveniences!
March 19, 201411 yr Apparently the yesterday's shootings were made by the 17 y.o. guy from Lviv! It actually makes sense, as it is very important for Putin not to make any blood. And the bases that are still under Ukraine's governing are being taken by the citizens, without the involvement of Russian army. Everyone believes that. It seems it's very important for Putin not to officially claim any actions by the Russian army on the peninsula.
March 19, 201411 yr So, many people think that the West is like the worst thing ever (literally). Change the word "West" on "United States" and I will agree with this statement. I don't have anything against European Union. It sad, that such strong countries as Germany and United Kingdom don't have thier opinion in the most political things and support United States ("The Empire Of Evil"). Orange Revolution was peaceful, current situation is very far from peace. Russian peoples are not against the independent Ukraine, but we can't support fascists. Edited March 19, 201411 yr by AlexRus
April 7, 201411 yr Oh goodness, this is still not dying down! And there are SO many horror stories pro-Ukraine people tell out there, it's ridiculous! Now they are trying to go for Kharkiv. The level of ruscism (kewl new word I came across. Couldn't have said it better) is still sky-high. A guy (I actually work in the very same building as him! suddenly the whole thing got SO much more real) who wrote a joke letter to Putin mocking the whole invading Ukraine situation, has his business (which is a small non-profit charity fund, where he doesn't even get paid!) audited by some police branch that deals with financial crimes or something.
April 15, 201411 yr I live in Ukraine, and I can tell that a lot of misinformation on the part of Russia.
