Just something that i've always been interested in, but how does a director or actor's controversy away from the camera affect your viewing?

I could have posed this question in any forum on the site but i find its impact is felt more in cinema where the work can often visualise the controversy or have resonances much more clearly (but do feel free to talk about an artists' controversy in any field).

So to take an extreme, but wholly relevant example, if a director was later found to be a mass serial killer or sexual predator, would you refuse to watch their works, disregard what you've already seen or actually be more inclined to visit what they've done to see if you map their thought processes in the film? This has been briefly mentioned with a few directors recently in the forum and will no doubt come back in the future because most of the seminal directors have some of sort of controversial past shrouding them.

Apologies if this makes no sense and i'm rambling but discuss~

If this was the case, I'd be scared to watch their movies. For example, a horror movie may make me think of what was going on in his mind and even a comedy by the director could frankly be startling
