Posted March 5, 201411 yr Gary was at Sarm Studios today with a host of music and football stars to make a video and cover single of Greatest Day as the Official World Cup song. The video will get it's first play on Sport Relief on Fri. March 21st. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertai...eo-9170843.html
March 6, 201411 yr Great that they selected Greatest Day as the track and Gary getting another solo credit.
March 6, 201411 yr Great that they selected Greatest Day as the track and Gary getting another solo credit. So would it rechart? Or would it's sales go to Greatest Day? Interesting to see if he could have a number 1 for greatest day with TT and solo as well! Don't think anyone has before, I.e releasing a song with a group and then releasing it again solo
March 7, 201411 yr I would think the same, it would most likely boost sales of the Take That version also.
March 8, 201411 yr Def Take That version will gain sales, greatest day seems to be a song that continues to sell even in small numbers.
March 13, 201411 yr Surely this is destined for number one? Gary Barlow seems to have modeled his recent career on the Pied Piper--a musician that encourages others to follow along and join in.
March 14, 201411 yr It is a fantastic song for a huge event with some big names on it. Loads of 'event songs' with big names on them have not done well. Edited March 14, 201411 yr by G R I F F
March 27, 201411 yr Here's a link to the song if you haven't heard it: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/new...rld-cup-3271024 Gary Lineker - don't give up the day job. Mel C steals the show.
March 27, 201411 yr Mel C has a very distinctive voice, while i am a Mel C i have an understanding of why some people do not like her voice, some friends of mine for example describe her voive as screechy.
June 12, 201411 yr Gary Barlow Football song axed. Direct result of tax dodging. As much a fan as I am, he deserved it. Gary Barlow has had plenty of time to publicly address the tax issue, but has decided not to. The price will be paid in damage to Take That and his solo career.
June 12, 201411 yr Was it only due to the tax dodging? Before that story broke, there was rumours it would not go a head and its release date was pushed all over the place.

It was a Sports Relief song, they say Greatest Day wasn't the official song at all so it can't of been axed. His solo album and single are still selling well so I don't think the effect has been as dramatic as some people first thought.

There will be absolutely NO damage to Take That or Barlow's career. It'll do nothing to endear him/them to new fans but it won't put off the die-hards. It does look like Gary's in the doghouse with Cameron though! :D Although I've no doubt that when the only pop-star they've invited turns them down - he'll call Gary at the last minute to help out tinkling the ivories for the guests! http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/sh...bash-invitation And on that note - seeing that picture of Tony Blair - don't you just want to punch him? Why would anyone push the date around, unless it sucked? I don't believe they would release it until the World Cup started, unless, for example, it had some traction in airplay or became a Youtube hit. Edited June 12, 201411 yr by Bond Bug

The damage to Gary Barlow's career is already happening, right now. He could have got another number one with the Greatest Day football version. If that happened, you'd expect a boost in Take That and Gary Barlow sales too. We saw how he nearly got to number one after the documentary a month ago. That shows that publicity sells. But there will be no more special media treatment for Gary Barlow - no more Gary Barlow days on BBC, no more charity records, no more Children in Need Barlow events, no more generous airplay. And even on the interviews Take That do get, they will be asked about their taxes. He hasn't learned anything from the days the media ate him up. He has gone from a national treasure to a national disgrace, and he only has himself to blame. In other words, it is open season again for the media to attack him - and they will. I think it's too early to assume anything. Open season is a bit of an exaggeration.
