Chart Commentary

It’s all change at the top this week, James Morrison takes the top spot at No.1 with ‘You Give Me Something’, taken from his forthcoming album 'Undiscovered', pushing Rogue Traders down to No.5. The Racounteurs move to No.2 with their infectious new single ‘Hands’ taken from their debut album ‘Broken Boy Soldiers’, their last single ‘Steady As She Goes’ also peaked at No.2. 'Chasing Cars' is Snow Patrol at their emotional best; a hook laden epic ballad that builds from a simple keyboard/ vocal refrain into a widescreen, guitar fuelled, string drenched, indie/ rock track that is irresistible from start to finish, taken from their platinum album ‘Eyes Open, residing at No.3. Christina Aguilera climbs into the top 10 at No.8 with ‘Ain’t No Other Man’, is a modern take on vintage jazz, soul and blues from the 1920s, '30s and '40s, creating a wildly inventive sound that's gritty and raw, and is taken from her brand new album 'Back To Basics'. The Pet Shop Boys return with second single 'Minimal' from their critically acclaimed album 'Fundamental' climbing to No.9. This upbeat electronic song showcases the boys' continued song writing prowess, with a classy, stylised video. The highest new entry of 5 comes from Panic! At The Disco, in at No.1 aptly titled ‘Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off’, yes it’s a mouthful, a perfect representative of their quirky take on power-punk/pop, which is slightly more alternative feel than the likes of Fall Out Boy and All American Rejects. Primal Scream, Boy Kill Boy, Ray Lamontagne and Captain make up the rest of the new entries inside the top 40 this week.

Chart Commentary

The Top 3 remain the same as last week, with James Morrison ‘You Give Me Something’ holds firmly at No.1 followed by The Raconteurs and Snow Patrol at No.2 and No.3. Kasabian climbs a few places to No.5, with their titled track of their new album ‘Empire’. The quartet easily fills the gap between fuzz and indie as they move effortlessly between Britpop verse and glam rock death chorus and the signs are there, hopefully more to follow. Las Vegas quartet Panic! At The Disco a further 12 places to No.10 aptly titled 'Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off', for strange reason, taken from their debut album, 'Fever You Can't Sweat Out'’. You either like this or hate it, but after a few listens, it just simply grows on you. The highest climber of the week comes in the shape of hotly tipped UK five-piece Captain with ‘Glorious’, climbing 20 places to No.20, one of the best songs around at the moment, taken from their forthcoming debut album 'This Is Hazelville’. This is another uplifting, up-beat slice of driving Indie/Pop, with dueting girl/boy vocals, sounding like a cross between Prefab Sprout and Deacon Blue. The highest new entry of 5 comes from the hotly tipped brand new single from Scissor Sisters ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ at No.7 this track will have you dancing, and taken from their long awaited brand new studio album ‘Ta-Dah’, this has got to be the hottest album of the year, or should I speak too early, as the best selling album of the year. Orson, Arctic Monkeys, Mousse T vs. Dandy Warhols, and The Similou make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s top 40.

Chart Commentary

Out of nowhere, we have a new No.1 from the catchiest single of the year from the Feeling, entering at No.1, with their new single ‘Never Be Lonely’ their last 2 singles ‘Sewn’ and ‘Fill My Little World’ both peaked at No.2, ‘Never Be Lonely’ does one better, taken from their debut album ‘Twelve Stops and Home’. It’s a great summery tune, earning them the highest new entry of 7, pushing James Morrison down to No.5. Scissor Sisters climb up 5 places to No.2, with their new release ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ taken from forthcoming studio album ‘Ta-Dah’. Snow Patrol seem to be stuck in a groove at No.3 for a third week running with ‘Chasing Cars’ at their emotional best; a hook laden epic ballad that builds from a simple keyboard/vocal refrain and crashes into a fantastic love song, guitar fuelled, string drenched, indie/rock track. The highest climber of the week goes to Captain again, last week they climbed 20 places and this week climbs another 12 places to No.8, with ‘Glorious’. Primarily, this is amazing to hear from such a new band. Excellent vocals from Rick Flynn and Clare Szembeck plus with a retro feel, as popularised by The Feeling, the chorus of "It's a glo-o-o-orious town" is made supremely memorable thanks to them, it’s a tender slice of summer pop. Keane, David Guetta vs. The Egg, Maria Lawson, The Fratellis, and Tom Novy & Lima, make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40.

Chart Commentary
The top 3 tracks remain the same as last week, with the Feeling holding firmly at No.1 spot with ‘Never Be Lonely’ for a second week, a great feel good track with a summery vibe to it. Keane’s signature swirling new track, opening piano riff leads into the falsetto, heart laden voice of Tom Chaplin and another Keane anthem ’Crystal Ball’ is born, taken from their acclaimed album ‘Under The Iron Sea’ climbing 16 places to No.4. The club smash of summer 2006, David Guetta vs. The Egg, which started life on the underground scene as a naughty bootleg at the end of ’05, the mash up of David Guetta's 'Love Don't Let Me Go' and Tocadisco's remix of The Egg's 'Walking Away' emerged as a cheeky electro house monster, and can also be heard as a theme tune to the Citroen C4 TV advert, climbs up 21 places to No.5. After 12 weeks in the chart Cascada jumps back inside the top 10 at No.6, with its sharp dance impression ‘Everytime We Touch’, making it one of the best dance anthems of 2006. The highest new entry of 6 comes from Nelly Furtado collaborating with Timberland on her new track ‘Promiscuous’ her follow-up No.1 hit to ‘Maneater’ in at No.20, taken from her brand new studio album ‘Loose’, a great R&B feel beat vibe, with a hookable chorus to die for. Muse, Beyonce feat. Jay Z (this is the Freemasons Radio Mix version), Dashboard Confessional, Sandi Thom and The Crimea make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40 chart.

Chart Commentary
At the beginning of the week Scissor Sisters were comfortably numb sitting at No.1 (pardon the pun), and a turn of events after 9 weeks in the chart, Snow Patrol finally peak at No.1 with their star quality anthem ‘Chasing Cars’ taken from their ground breaking best selling album ‘Eyes Open’ of their career, a hook laden epic ballad that builds into a fine and beautiful track, one of the stand out tracks of the year, earning them the second No.1 this year after ‘You’re All I Have’ which peaked at No.1 for 3 weeks. Scissor Sisters remain at No.2 for the third week with ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ taken from their soon to be release, second studio album ‘Ta-Dah’ it’s an infectious track waiting to burst on your ear drums. Nelly Furtado climbs 14 places to No.6 with her hit ‘Promiscuous’ collaborating with Timbaland, taken from her third studio album ‘Loose’, another stand out track from her album, which set to rock the charts alight and still keeping up the music fashion with her previous hit ‘Maneater’. The highest climber of the week goes to The Fratellis, 21 places to No.8, with a hint of glam and a dash of 60's influenced songwriting, 'Chelsea Dagger' offers a new twist on the current crop of youthful UK Indie bands, taken form their forthcoming debut album, 'Costello Music'. The highest new entry of 7 comes from Pink with her new infectious track ‘U + Ur hand’ in at No.7, taken from her chart-topping album 'I'm Not Dead'. Pink starts and ends the track with some sexy chanting in true Pink style and the thrashing guitars and hard rock drums build up nicely to an unforgettable catchy chorus. 'U + Ur Hand' is a sure-fire radio hit. Lostprophets, Embrace, Robbie Williams, Lemar, Jealousy feat. Mani Hoffman and Basement Jaxx, make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s Top 40 chart.

Commentary

Snow Patrol remain at No.1 for a second week with their haunting first class anthem track ‘Chasing Cars’ and Scissor Sisters seem to be stuck at No.2 for the past 4 weeks, will they ever climb to that elusive No.1 spot, well there is always next week perhaps, with The Fratellis close behind them at No.3, with the highly addictive track ‘Chelsea Dagger’. ‘Starlight’ undoubtedly the standout track from Muse’s successful No.1 album 'Black Holes And Revelations', at their euphoric and emotive best. With a formidable piano hook providing the basis of what can only be described as the closest these space-aged rockers will ever come to writing a love song. 'Starlight' looks set to eclipse the success of 'Supermassive Black Hole’ climbing 2 places to No.9. On the back of ‘Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast)’, hails the return of the mighty Welsh rockers Lostprophets to the top 10 with their brand new release ‘A Town Called Hyprocrisy’ climbing 13 places to No.10, taken from their third studio album ‘Liberation Transmission’. The highest new entry of 6 comes from UK's finest R&B star Jamelia 'Something About You' is her first single taken from her third studio album 'Walk With Me', better known for her addictive infectious hit ‘Superstar’ from 2003. The Killers, Nerina Pallot, Janet Jackson feat Nelly, The Rapture and The Guillemots make up the rest of the new entries inside the top 40.

Chart Commentary
After 4 weeks of prancing and dancing at No.2, Scissor Sisters take the No.1 position from Snow Patrol, with ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ which is the first single to be taken from their new studio album ‘Ta-Dah’ their distinctive blend of pop, disco and 70s rock sound still echoes throughout the track. Actually ‘Ta-Dah’ is a clever title for an album, just imagine asking for it over the counter ‘Ta-Dah’ please. With Jake Shears hitting the notes in the right places, with a song like this you can’t go wrong it’s an anthem for all camp weddings. Scottish lads, The Fratellis continue to climb up to a new peak of No.2 with ‘Chelsea Dagger’, look out for their brand new album ‘Costello Music’ due to hit the shops near you, a must have album for any collection from this new up-coming new band. And Pink remains at No.4 for the second week running with her hit ‘U + Ur Hand’. While Muse continues it’s upward climb to No.6 with ‘Starlight’ taken from their best album to date, ‘Black Holes & Revelations’. Chart topping synth-rockers The Killers make their welcome return journey with ‘When You Were Young’. It’s the first single to be taken from The Killers' sophomore album, 'Sam's Town', named after a casino in their hometown of Las Vegas, climbing 15 places to No.8. This has got No.1 hit written all over it. The highest new entry of 5 comes from… hang on, let’s cast our mind back to the summer of 2003, one track that took the world by storm from out of nowhere American band Evanescence hit our British shores with their debut single ‘Bring Me Back To Life’ which peaked at No.1 in the official chart for 4 weeks and created a huge fanbase on the back of their debut single. Following the multi-platinum, worldwide success of their major-label debut album, 'Fallen', Evanescence is poised to build upon their respected position in the rock community with their sophomore effort, 'The Open Door', with their brand new single ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’ in at No.10. The track itself is a haunting ballad, and draws you in from the very start, with its profound lyrics and the stunning voice of Amy Lee to produce one of the finest tracks of 2006. Kelis feat. Too $hort, The Zutons, Jet and Outkast make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40.

Chart Commentary
It seems there is no staying power at No.1 this week as Scissor Sisters takes a tumble to No.2, The Killers climb 7 places to No.1 with their brand new track ‘When We Were Young’ taken from their brand new studio album ‘Sam’s Town’ after their debut groundbreaking best selling album ‘Hot Fuss’ of their career to date. Evanescence takes a foothold at No.3 this week with their brand new track ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’ lifted from their new sophomore studio album ‘The Open Door’, The new album is an ideal showcase for the band's inevitable personal and professional growth, with songs of introspection, longing, doubt, self-respect and ultimately, empowerment and anticipation. Glaswegians, The Fratellis comprising of singer Jon, drummer Mince and Barry on bass drop to No.4 with ‘Chelsea Dagger’. The Fratellis mix up a brilliant concoction of 70s glam, 60s songwriting and a pinch of punk, and their album ‘Costello Music’ is a fine art in itself with great tracks like ’Whistle For The Choir’, a great album to add to any record collection. 'Something About You' is the first single from UK's finest petite R&B star Jamelia's third album 'Walk With Me', climbing 2 places to No.9. The highest new entry of 5, following the chart storming success of the massive monster hit anthem 'Monster', The Automatic release 'Recover' in at No.17, taken from their gold selling debut album 'Not Accepted Anywhere'. Chris Lake feat Laura V, OK Go, Route 3 feat. Alex James and September make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40.

Chart Commentary
The Killers remain at No.1 for a second week with ‘When You Were Young’, while at No.2 Evanescence move up a place to No.2 with ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’ taken from their brand new studio album ‘The Open Door’ and The Fratellis are back up a place to No.3 with their infectious track ‘Chelsea Dagger’, The Feeling move back inside the top 10 at No.7 with ‘Never Be Lonely’ taken from their infectious studio album or should I say the best album of the year ‘Twelve Stops and Home’. The Zutons climb 10 places to No.10 with their new single 'Oh Stacey (Look What You’ve Done)' is a harmony filled tune about an old friend, beautifully complimented by a trademarked saxophone hook and toe-tapping tempo, taken from their platinum selling album 'Tired Of Hanging Around'. The highest new entry of 6 comes from Canada's finest trio that form Bedouin Soundclash with ‘When The Night Feels My Song’ in at No.22. This track outstanding vocal harmony are reminiscent of early Jamaican Reggae, with an added twist of a modern folk acoustic vibe, and can be heard as a theme tune to the T Mobile TV Commercial. Infernal, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Dirty Pretty Things, Beatfreakz and Paolo Nutini make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40.

Chart Commentary
Here I go again, The Killers remain at No.1 for a third week with their best single to date ‘When You Were Young’, Evanescence ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’ remain at No.2 for a second week and Scissor Sisters ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ are on the climb again up 1 place to No.3, followed by the Zutons at No.4. The massive club classic 'Changes' by Chris Lake climbs eight places to No.6 is a massive dance track, with a huge piano riff and vocal hook from Laura V. Pink is back inside the top 10 this week with her catchiest track to date ‘U + Ur Hand’, taken from her studio album ‘I’m Not Dead’. The highest new entry of 5 comes from My Chemical Romance with their brand new single ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ in at No.20, takes the blueprint that made previous hits 'Helena' and 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' so successful and propels it to a new level of creativity taken from their brand new studio album ‘The Black Parade’. Cascada has a mini revival by climbing back up the chart for the third time in 18 weeks, already peaked at No.6 earlier this year, positioning itself at No.22. Rogue Traders, Razorlight, Placebo and yes David Hasselhoff, you neither like it or hate it, but it’s catchy and sounds very camp, make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40.

Chart Commentary
This week sees Evanescence finally perched at No.1, with the lovely Amy Lee singing the beautifully laden power ballad, pushing all the boundaries on ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’ taken from the new released studio album ‘The Open Door’ and what an album, Lithium is a top class single in the making, with Amy Lee’s sultry power vocals. How do you follow a great album like ‘Fallen’ quite easily actually ‘The Open Door’ is a masterpiece in the making. 'Welcome To The Black Parade' sees My Chemical Romance back to their music roots with a new sound and concept from their forthcoming third album 'The Black Parade'. This single is another gem that follows the likes of 'Helena' and 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)', but on a different level, up 16 places to No.4. One track that has been sticking in my mind all week has to be ‘America’ by Razorlight, which climbs up 22 places to No.5, after their success of ‘In The Morning’. This second single, 'America', is an anthem in the making, a poignant account of the band's well documented trials and tribulations during their American tour last year, taken from their self titled album ‘Razorlight’. A uplifting and joyous track ‘When The Night Feels My Song’ at No.9, from Canada's finest trio, Bedouin Soundclash. The track can also be heard as a theme tune to the TV T Mobile commercial. Rumour has it, this band are vergly heading for a split, Nadine, Cheryl, Nicola, Sarah and the lovely Kimberley make up Girls Aloud with their new infectious track ‘Something Kinda Oooh’ taken from their soon to be released compilation album ‘The Sound of Girls Aloud’’, which heralds a slightly different direction for the group, with its harder edged dance beats and unrelenting groove with their sexy moves, making it the highest new entry of 6 in at No.17. Oh, I hear a new studio album is on the cards for 2007, so that blows that rumour out of the window. The Kooks, Bob Sinclar feat. Cutee B, Big Ali & Dollarman, Pet Shop Boys, James Morrison and Hot Chip make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s top 40.

Chart Commentary
Evanescence stay on top for a second week running, with the powerful vocal ballad ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’, My Chemical Romance shoots up to No.2 with ‘Welcome To The Black Parade, and Razorlight at No.3 with ‘America’. Girls Aloud, march into the top 10 at No.6 with their infectious new track ‘Something Kinda Oooh’, taken from their brand new compilation album ‘The Sound of Girls Aloud’. Rogue Traders are back in the Top 10 following on the trail of ‘Voodoo Child’ with ‘Watching You’ this time sampling The Knack's 'My Sharona' as a frame of reference, 'Watching You' is very clever as although it follows the same rock/dance formula as 'Voodoo Child' it retains its own unique style and is destined to be a big hit, in at No.8. Infernal follow up ‘From Paris To Berlin’ with another infectious dance track ‘Self Control’ originally recorded by Laura Branigan, Infernal give the track a dance makeover without losing its original take on it. Climbing fast up the chart, up 20 places to No.21 are Hot Chip with ‘Over and Over’. Challenging LCD Soundsystem to a lo-fi pop showdown on the streets of New York, but retaining all the band's quirky British eccentricity, this new single perfectly illustrates how to strike the perfect balance between nerd funk and indie disco brilliance. The highest new entry of 6 comes from Las Vegas quartet Panic! At The Disco with their best track on the album ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ by far in at No.17. The Racounteurs, Magic Numbers, Fedde De Grand, Moby feat. Debbie Harry and The Long Blondes make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40.

Chart Commentary
Evanescence remain at No.1 for the third week running with ‘Call Me When You’re Sober’, their album ‘The Open Door’ is well written and a masterpiece in the making. My Chemical Romance stuck at No.2 with ‘Welcome To The Black Parade, taken from their soon to be release studio album ‘The Black Parade. At No. 3 is the highest new entry of 7 from All Saints, yes all Saints are back, Shaznay Lewis, Michelle Blatt and the Appleton Sisters Nicole and Natalie, one of the most celebrated and critically acclaimed girl groups to grace the charts, the girls reformed earlier this year and 'Rock Steady' is the first taster of their long awaited third album 'Studio 1'. 'Rocksteady' find the girls sounding as fresh and relevant as ever, full of their original sass and individuality. After a phenomenal year already, The Kooks release their next single 'Ooh La', taken from The Kooks debut album 'Inside In/ Inside Out' which has now sold over one million copies in the UK alone, is a toe-tapping slice of indie pop, accentuated with shimmering guitar chords and a swaggering vocal performance by frontman Luke, residing at No.6. The second highest new entry also staggers in the top 10 from Madonna at No.7 with her brand new release ‘Jump’ taken from her multi-selling album ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’. Jamiroquai, Keane, The Ordinary Boys, Amy Winehouse and Beyonce make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40.

Chart Commentary
All change at the top this week, Shazney, Melanie, Natalie and Nicole aka All Saints take the No.1 spot with their new R&B / funky track‘ Rock Steady’, the first taster of their long awaited third album 'Studio 1'. Madonna jumps literally to No.2, with her infectious new single ‘Jump’, my favourite track from her best selling album ‘Confessions On A Dance Floor’. Three and half minutes of Romeo, Michele, Angela and Sean otherwise known as Magic Numbers at their most frenetic, 'Take A Chance' is a gloriously melodic collision of harmonies, rattling drums and breakneck guitars residing at No.7. It's a tale of temptation and desire that skids into a stomping chorus that keeps on peaking. Las Vegas quartet Panic! At The Disco with their brand new single ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ from their debut album 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out', climbing inside the top 10 at No.8. Is a belting guitar rock song which starts along at a furious pace while still remembering to include a melody, it is a bit 'emo'-ish, but you don't have to wear black masacra to appreciate it. The highest new entry of 6, enters the chart at No.18 for 3 sassy girls, Keisha, Amelle & Heidi better known as The Sugababes with 'Easy' is the sound of Sugababes at their salacious best; sexual innuendos writhe around slick electro beats, with the girls delivering their most sensual vocal performance to date, taken from their "best of" album 'Overloaded'. U2 with Green Day, Lucie Silvas, The Klaxons, Simon Webbe and Depeche Mode, make up the rest of the new entries in this weeks Top 40.

Chart Commentary
All Saints seem to be holding firmly at No.1 for a third week running with ‘Rock Steady’ keeping their opposition Madonna at No.2 for a second week with ‘Jump’. Christina climbs 11 places to No.9 with her brand new track ‘Hurt’, taken from her recent album, Back To Basics, ‘Hurt’ is a moving number which sees Christina hitting all the high notes. The highest new entry of 8 is from Snow Patrol with 'Set The Fire To The Third Bar' in at No.3. It’s the third single taken from the million selling album 'Eyes Open'. The song features guest vocalist Martha Wainwright who Gary Lightbody wrote the song for, and easily one of the best tracks on the album. The second highest new entry comes the man from Stoke-On-Trent that cheeky chappie always out to entertain you by the name of Robbie Williams, in at No.12, with 'Lovelight'. A spectacular cover of Lewis Taylor's criminally unknown soul-anthem, featuring a full-on falsetto vocal performance from Robbie, 'Lovelight' ranks amongst one of his most dynamic and definitive singles to date, which transforms it into a building euphoric disco anthem. And a further 6 new entries from Kasabian, The Feeling, Take That, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lo-Rider featuring Cumberbatch, help out to clear a lot of the dead wood at the bottom of the chart.

Chart Commentary
After 3 weeks at No.1 All Saints take a dip to No.3 to make way for Snow Patrol, its their third No.1 from them after ‘You All I Have’ and ‘Chasing Cars’ this year, collaborating with Martha Wainwright on ‘Set The Fire To The Third Bar’. Robbie Williams climbs inside the Top 10 at No.2 with ‘Lovelight’ taken from his studio album ‘Rudebox’. Lovelight is a spectacular cover of Lewis Taylor's criminally unknown soul-anthem and transform it into a building euphoric disco anthem; it ranks amongst one of his most dynamic and definitive singles to date. Kasabian's sleazy glam-rock stomping and addictive new single 'Shoot The Runner', taken from their second album 'Empire', which has already passed Platinum status since its release this summer, climbs 18 places to No.7. The big success story from the recent Nineties revival, now Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason (Take That) unveil their first single for over ten years. 'Patience', is their stunning first single from their comeback album 'Beautiful World', beautifully written by Gary Barlow, climbs 24 places to No.9, making it the highest climbing single of the week. The highest new entry of 5 surfaces at No.11 for Muse, another heart pounding track with ‘Knights of Cydonia’ taken from their acclaimed No.1 album, ‘Supermassive Black Hole’ one of the best tracks on the album. The Killers new single ‘Bones’ makes an entry into the chart at No.17, The Fratellis, Pink and Sandi Thom make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s Top 40 chart.

Chart Commentary
Another week at No.1 for Snow Patrol with ‘Set The Fire To The Third Bar’ collaborating with Martha Wainwright, taken from million selling studio album ‘Eyes Open’. Take That move up 7 places to No.2 with ‘Patience’. 2006 has been a phenomenal year for Muse; their album 'Black Holes And Revelations' debuted at No.1 in the album charts, 'Knights Of Cydonia', the third single from the album, is an absolutely stunning piece of Queen inflicted super rock, up to No.3. Second single to be lifted from their new album 'Sam's Town', 'Bones' still manages to retain the bands trademarked retro/ 80s vibe whilst adding an unrelenting pop finesse to the proceedings, up to No.4. The Feeling have gone from strength to strength this year, clocking up 2 top ten singles and a No 1 with ‘Never Be Lonely’ and the album ‘Twelve Stops And Home’ has already gone platinum. The band now gear up to release their next hit single, 'Love It When You Call', a joyous pop moment that will brighten up these increasingly dark nights, up at No.15. The highest new entry of 7 comes from Nelly Furtado - she's back with another massive new single from the platinum selling album 'Loose'. 'All Good Things' was co-written between Nelly and Coldplay's Chris Martin and it's a beautiful, hooky, emotive ballad that follows the club hits 'Maneater' and 'Promiscuous', in at No.13, unlucky for some. Shakira feat Santana, Damian Rice & Lisa Hannigan, Jamelia, Lemar, Lostprophets and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s Top 40 Chart.

Chart Commentary
And we have a new No.1 from Muse with ‘Knights of Cydonia’ is an absolutely stunning piece of Queen inflicted super rock, taken from their album 'Black Holes And Revelations'. Take That stall at No.2 for a second week with ‘Patience’, is their stunning first single from their comeback album 'Beautiful World', The Fratellis return to the fray with their toe-tapping new single 'Whistle For The Choir'. Following their critically acclaimed and commercially successful debut long player 'Costello Music'. The Fratellis go on from strength to strength, with this track, climbing to No.5. There's no stopping Miss Nelly Furtado – she's back with another massive new single from the platinum selling album 'Loose'. 'All Good Things' climbs to No.7, co-written between Nelly and Coldplay's Chris Martin and it's a beautiful, hooky, emotive ballad that follows the club hits 'Maneater' and 'Promiscuous'. The highest new entry of 7 enters the chart at No.8 Scissor Sisters return with their epic new ballad 'Land of A Thousand Words', the follow up to the No.1 smash 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin' which topped the charts for 4 weeks in September. 'Land Of A Thousand Words' – once again written by Jake Shears and Babydaddy – is the bands homage to film opening songs, which really sounds like a James Bond theme. Both singles are taken from Scissor Sisters' second album 'Ta-Dah' which debuted at No.1. My Chemical Romance moves back inside the top 10 at No.10 been influenced by their highly addictive album ‘The Black Parade. Booty Luv, Gwen Stefani, Chris Cornell, Cascada, The Zutons and Embrace make up the rest of the new entries inside this week’s top 40.

Chart Commentary
The Top 2 tracks remain where they are as last week, with Muse ‘Knights of Cydonia’ firmly rooted at No.1 and Take That ‘Patience’ hang on to No.2 for a third week, followed close by Scissor Sisters with ‘Land Of A Thousand Words’ at No.3 and The Fratellis move up a place to No.4 with ‘Whistle For The Choir’. Gwen Stefani moves 17 places up the chart at No.7 with ‘Wind It Up’ featuring the rather unconventional sampling of 'The Sound Of Music', from her dazzling new solo album 'The Sweet Escape'. At first, I didn’t think anything special about this track, but after a few listens, its gets stuck in your head, at now I even like more. Booty Luv makes an appearance in the top 10 at No.8, with ‘Boogie 2Nite’ originally recorded by Tweet in 2002. The soulful vocals on 'Boogie 2Nite' are provided by none other than Nadia and Cherise from chart-topping hip-pop act Big Brovaz. Following the worldwide smash hit single ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ Shakira is back, this time collaborating with Carlos Santana on her new single ‘Illegal’. Shakira slows the pace down as she reflects on deceit and love lost with the Latin American passion she is famous for, up to No.10. The highest new entry of 7 comes from Girls Aloud at No.21 with an 80s classic ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ originally recorded by Tiffany and peaked at No.1, this single can also be found on their Greatest Hits album ‘The Sound of Girls Aloud’ and released as the lead single from the forthcoming film 'It's A Boy Girl Thing'. James Morrison, Razorlight, Lazytown, Scott Matthews, Paolo Nutini and Lily Allen make up the rest of the new entries in this week’s Top 40.
